Hancock has said "We have been very clear" twice. If he says it again, I'm going to shout "House!"

Also looking out for 'Guided by the science' and 'The PM is working hard...'

Any more?

Really pleased they’re re starting fertility. Patients aren’t ill so of limited risk, there isn’t a lot of face to face and to be crude the bit of action there is is away from the face. You also inject drugs yourself.

Mental health services are running, My dc has had emails, text and Facetine counselling.

The80sweregreat · 01/05/2020 18:02

Try to have a good night. Today's briefing was a bit bland. I'm pleased that Matt H looks better , but I guess the press will have a go at him still about the testing fiasco.
Sometimes I get swamped with the facts and figures! I was never very good at maths.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 02/05/2020 16:02

It's Jenrick today, and I would like him to announce that since we can sweep the homeless off the streets when we set our minds to it, we shall not be kicking them back out there again ever.

(It's rather like the announcement that they were going to start cleaning the tube stations: What were you doing before?)

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 02/05/2020 17:09

I've missed a bit of this.
I hope they won't kick the homeless out as well ! Was it mentioned? It should be.
I like Jenny Harris.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 02/05/2020 17:31

Thy've thrown it at Louise Casey and told her to make a suggestion. I'm guessing she might say spend some money on the problem. This is supposed to be a civilised society.

Loads more tests, and it looks like we're doube counting them when we send them out in the post and then counting them again when we get them back.

Not a lot of news. Denying all the stories in the paper about end of lockdown.

Thank
You mockers.
I think the briefings might fizzle out once the big plan is revealed ! Give it a few more weeks.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 03/05/2020 16:38

Govey on Sunday. And credit to him (yes, even him) for rightly noting this is the first day of the week.

Not so good: "Behind the data, every death blah blah blah..."

No. You do not feel the pain of all those deaths. If you did, you would not be able to stand up, never mind say it.

It's becoming increasingly clear that the main and perhaps the only purpose of these briefings is to make the govt. look good.

This thread is accordingly paying less attention.

I'm a bit behind on the tv, but I agree that it's losing its impact a bit now.
People are waiting for Thursday to get the big information! I heard someone in the queue at Tesco confirm that Thursday was D day ! Decision day!
They obviously had their finger on
The pulse.

SouthWestmom · 03/05/2020 17:58

LBC had a huge promotion to get the government to do daily briefings. Think it was Jo'B really arguing for it on the grounds that we needed to know what was going on. Turns out, not much on a daily basis.

RunningNinja79 · 03/05/2020 18:01

People are waiting for Thursday to get the big information!

The news on BBC has just said Sunday. Why next Sunday? I thought it was Thursday as that's the 3 weeks.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 03/05/2020 18:32

I think they will announce something on Friday to coincide with VE Day

The80sweregreat · 03/05/2020 18:58

They will announce on Friday that ' we've beaten the virus' ! Or probably not.
I thought Thursday too for 'big plan ' but now others say Sunday!?
Maybe Dom needs more time?
These briefings are a bit repetitive now I think. The ones doing them look fed up too.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 04/05/2020 17:12

"Where the Isle of Wight goes, Britian follows."

Not sure that's strictly true in tectonic terms, but can't say I'm thrilled.

Cut-off from the world and dependent on sixty year old tube trains?

A vision of our future?

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 04/05/2020 17:29

They are putting a lot of faith in the IOW !
My cousin lives there and admits it's not the most prosperous place and many won't have smart phones etc. They can't even get upgrades on the mobiles as the shops are shut! I'm not putting them down at all and it's got to be rolled out somewhere , but the results will be interesting.

The app is exciting apparently!! Telling you to tell you stay home again isn't exciting to my mind!

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 04/05/2020 17:32

The Western Isles said no to the pilot.

Probably worried about it working on a Sunday.

OP posts:
TJH130 · 04/05/2020 17:33

Amusing that the question about the Isle of White and Catch 22 got Matt Hancock stuck in a similar loop repeating the slogan 🤣😂

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 04/05/2020 17:35

And Hancock misunderstood the 80% of people who listen to a pop music radio station as 80% of the population.

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 04/05/2020 17:36

I can't believe that the IOW which sells sand contained pencils and is hardly ever in the news is now the place Tigger is pinning his hopes on! Are they happy over there?
Are they ready?

The80sweregreat · 04/05/2020 17:37

Dh just said that the new tracker will go ping ' you are on the IOW!'.. yes, lived here years.

TJH130 · 04/05/2020 17:51

Full house to anyone tracking the use of

“very good question”

Raccoon2020vision · 04/05/2020 17:55

To those saying the Isle of Wight isn't all that prosperous, to be fair, it does depend on which bit of it you're talking about. Ryde is pretty poor (for the south of England, that is), but Cowes isn't, at certain times of year. And I'm presuming the politicos who dreamed this up will only know the Cowes side of the Island.

It's not exactly a microcosm of the rest of England though. I mean, once you're on it, you can't exactly get off easily. And there's not that much to do, especially if all the tourist stuff is closed. Besides which, wasn't it one of the only bits of Britain where the trains consistently ran on time as the track was so short and you essentially get to the end and just turn round again? Or was that just when we visited?

My bingo card today had "rainbows", "testing", "NHS", "clap", "PPE" and "masks" on it.

SouthWestmom · 04/05/2020 17:58

'That's a very important question and I thank you for it' - too long?

The80sweregreat · 04/05/2020 18:49

I hope the islanders test this app out and are able to ' do their bit! ' I'm sure they will.

The80sweregreat · 05/05/2020 17:10

This woman talking now reminds me of Dolores Umbridge ( it's the voice)

Hiddentext · 05/05/2020 17:13

We are working "at pace". We are doing such and such "at pace".
