Hancock has said "We have been very clear" twice. If he says it again, I'm going to shout "House!"

Also looking out for 'Guided by the science' and 'The PM is working hard...'

Any more?

Thank you. His future is just disappearing in front of me and with all the delayed treatments etc I can't believe they've prioritised people who aren't here yet. It makes no sense. Like write my son off and start with shiny new babies.

Thank you. I'm so sorry (I was happily playing Bingo earlier on the thread). It was just like someone punched me really hard when they said it. His specialise stuff is delayed indefinitely by the virus.

He was such a happy 'normal' kid til this hit him out the blue. I know that's not the right phrasing.

sunglasses123 · 01/05/2020 17:24

What on earth is that fertility statement about!! I would be crowing about the 100k tests though. Blimey, that was close, no one really thought they could do it!

No wonder they gave it to MH to announce. Bet he wishes he had never put a number on it.... Media gave him such a hard time on it!

namechange8765455 · 01/05/2020 17:24

Noeuf - it sounds awful to feel that way. Sounds like you could use some support too my love (as well as your don I mean).

Thanks mockers. I'll stick to my stream and imagine the graphs, haha. X

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 01/05/2020 17:25

Loads of SEN kids are going to be collateral damage of all this.

Think Bank Holiday is actually next Friday!! I thought it was Monday until someone corrected me!

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 01/05/2020 17:28

"Well he was hardly going to show his face on a bank holiday weekend if he hadn't made his own made-up target."
It isn't a Bank holiday weekend. Grin

The Bank holiday was changed from Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May for 2020 to coincide with VE day.

SouthWestmom · 01/05/2020 17:28

Yes - I just feel it's time death when people are having everything delayed to start with a 'we're creating lovely new life' statement. I'd like them to fix the existing ones.

Sorry for hijacking. It's been an horrendous mess of inpatient stuff, mistakes and stress. So I just got upset.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 01/05/2020 17:30

Starting to think the end of Covid lockdown won't be like VE-Day. More like the liberation of Paris with the non-clappers dragged out to have their heads shaved for tarring and feathering.

Noeuf - these things hit us out of nowhere don't they? Without warning. This isn't my thread but it's totally OK by me that you talked about it here. Sending you a hug. Hope you have one RL support. Flowers

SouthWestmom · 01/05/2020 17:31

Thanks. I just needed to be really angry and upset for a bit.

The80sweregreat · 01/05/2020 17:32

The big bank holiday Friday on the 8 th may was meant to celebrate all things British ( 75 years since V E day)!and I'm sure spoons would have ' ramped up' the Union Jack bunting and bulldog spirit in the beer gardens. As it is it'll be another day with maybe the news showing a few kids drawings in windows and the Queen is going to speak to the nation again. It will probably rain too!
Contact tracing app is being heavily promoted here. I'm not convinced.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 01/05/2020 17:34

...Oooooooooh! So we haven't done 100k tests. We've just posted them out?

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 01/05/2020 17:34

Noeuf, I'm sorry to hear about your son.
Let's hope other clinics re open soon and MH is top of the list ASAP.
You must be so worried.

The80sweregreat · 01/05/2020 17:35

Mockers, piers Morgan on Twitter is steaming that it's people not actual tests?
I'm confused myself but I suppose it's all smoke n mirrors. I did want Matt Hancock to succeed here.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 01/05/2020 17:36

The Prof confirms it's test kitss delivered, not actually tested.

Oh dear. Tigger might still get a pasting then. Who'd be a health secretary?

SouthWestmom · 01/05/2020 17:38

Thank you. It's horrible to feel you are running out of time. The specialists have been delayed (already huge (months) waiting list extended) and exams loom.

I'll get back to playing Bingo Smile

nauticant · 01/05/2020 17:42

"Hancock's Half Hour" just referred to on PM. It's probably an old joke now but I laughed.

The80sweregreat · 01/05/2020 17:43

Noeuf, I'm sure there may be a teenage thread : there is a mental health one.
They might have a bit more information.
13 is such a horrible age and with all this going on it's no wonder that young adults and teens are struggling si much. Not having a school routine must be hard too.
My son was at uni when he started to struggle with MH problems and panic attacks : took him a while to get back to feeling better. One day at a time I used to say to him. It's all you can do.
The tracker thing is being very heavily promoted today.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 01/05/2020 17:48

"I'm so gutted they've reopened fertility treatment and said nothing about mental health. I'd really like them to take care of kids already here."
They did say the other day that the NHS are now in a position and should restart both cancer services and MH services again.

I am very surprised that they have now said fertility services should restart. I think they should ensure that diseases that are life-threatening or could deteriorate to be life-threatening should be restarted first and then see if those affect death and infection rates before gradually restarting other services.

I would expect bariatric surgery, reconstruction surgery, fertility treatment and gender reassignment treatment to be last on the list of priorities.

SouthWestmom · 01/05/2020 17:49

Thanks 80s . I'll have a look. I think one was started but he has a very specific diagnosis and it doesn't fit with depression/ usual teen worries. He was 13 and two years later it's just a sense of panic now really. I think that's why I was so upset - we are just waiting and waiting for this help.

Anyway. I don't want to hijack the thread; we will all have our own traumas as a result of this period.

SouthWestmom · 01/05/2020 17:50

(Cross post black and white) thank you for confirming that was mentioned Smile
