Will we be further locked down before Easter - Yes Or No

No point in putting this in AIBU as it will be moved so unable to use the vote functionality there.

There’s loads of threads about the rights and wrongs of banning exercise or other further restrictions but th3 fact is the government could do it

I think this weekend has shown too many people are unable to do what is asked of them as they all feel their circumstances somehow exempt them and, with a 4 day weekend coming up, it’s going to be too big a risk not to apply further restrictions

So will we be further locked down before Easter - Just Yes or No

I know we need further restrictions but I don't think we will be put under further restriction, No.

Likefootball · 05/04/2020 16:04

Yes- because there are people who still don't get it.

Bearbehind · 05/04/2020 16:04

fartyface the big difference will be the lose of everyone being able to go out once a day to exercise

Eeyoresstickhouse · 05/04/2020 16:05

Yes we will. And I will be majorly pissed off with not having exercise time (we have no garden). And yet our rough chav neighbours will still carry on with parties and having people round and dealing drugs from her flat and nothing will happen to her. And yet if I stepped outside with my 3 year old you can guarantee I would get caught and fined.

NewYearNewTwatName · 05/04/2020 16:05

I think we should move to the french way of doing it.

if every time you leave the house you have to fill in a card saying why, it would male people think more.

The french still get to exercise and walk dogs.

Bearbehind · 05/04/2020 16:05

It won't make much difference if you have a reasonable sized garden, DH has already marked his running route around ours and measured it.

🤔

Depends on what happens today. Lots if idiots go out in public and don't social distance, flock to beaches and beauty spots etc, likely they will tighten the lockdown.

Geometricprince · 05/04/2020 16:06

I think probably yes but not sure why they can't just enforce the current rules. If they introduce harsher ones and then don't enforce them they'll still be ignored so just clamp down on the ideas flouting the rules!

RingtheBells · 05/04/2020 16:07

Yes we will be locked down

JellyBelly78 · 05/04/2020 16:08

I’m sure I heard Nicola Sturgeon say powers were coming in this week to allow police to lockdown.

viques · 05/04/2020 16:10

Yes. I reckon they only said three weeks initially to lull us into a false sense of security and optimism, but were planning on at least six or eight. I think we will be on far stricter lockdown procedures as well, having to carry permits to show where we are going and limiting distance you can travel.

There is a post from someone in Spain on here today and the restrictions are tight and the penalties severe.

Loooobyloo · 05/04/2020 16:10

I'm dreading it if it happens! I run everyday and don't have a treadmill or big garden. Where can I buy a treadmill?!

There are a lot of people out and about though still!

GreekOddess · 05/04/2020 16:11

No. I think we will be out of lockdown from 14th April but will continue to practice social distancing. Cafes/restaurants/bars will start to open from 1st May. Workplaces will start to get back to normal from 1st June. Travel restrictions will be lifted from 1st July and schools will reopen on 1st September.

hopeishere · 05/04/2020 16:12

It all depends on the numbers. If cases and deaths are still rising then there will be further lockdown.

Ylvamoon · 05/04/2020 16:13

I hope not - we have been enjoying our daily bike ride with our DC - one is a teen and it's the only time we manage to get her out of the bedroom!
And around our neighborood everyone seems to take the guidelines seriously.

loutypips · 05/04/2020 16:15

Yes, and I don't think it will be long until it happens.
We might find ourselves in the same situation as Spain, no exercise and having to go to the nearest shop for food. They've closed all but essential jobs too.

Thighmageddon · 05/04/2020 16:15

Looooobyloo I'm lucky because we already have a treadmill but my dm was trying to find one online last week and they are sold out in most places. And because most will require a two man lift, a lot of companies won't deliver now.

And yes I think we will and I'm glad.

MayTheGodsBeEverInYourFavour · 05/04/2020 16:17

Yes. Personally I would support any measures the government could introduce to quickly identify & appropriately punish - as well as curtailing the activities of - all offenders. Why should some random stranger's right to have a chat/bbq/whatever with their neighbours/family that live half a mile away, override anyone else's right to life? Because that is what it boils down to. And we would probably never know who had broken the rules & been responsible for however many deaths.

TowerRingInferno · 05/04/2020 16:17

Yes

I admire your ability to predict these things with such accuracy but there’s not even any logic to those timings 😂

cologne4711 · 05/04/2020 16:18

No, the next review is due on Easter Monday so any changes to the rules will happen then.

cologne4711 · 05/04/2020 16:18

My mother told me today that her local tip is closed until September! What do they know that nobody else does?

BlessYourCottonSocks · 05/04/2020 16:18

Yes, but not sure how they will enforce it. I'm in a large rural county with very few police officers.

NoSquirrels · 05/04/2020 16:18

Yes. Sadly, I think this is coming.

The Easter 4-day weekend will be too great a temptation to people. I think they will impose greater restrictions this week in order to prevent that opportunity.

In many non-urban places, it is not a problem: OK, it will definitely suck to lose the 'daily exercise' rule but if you have a garden of any size, even a teeny tiny one, you can enjoy fresh air and the sun on your face.
But in urban centres, being locked in with NO access to the outdoors, that will be absolutely awful.

Lunawuna · 05/04/2020 16:19

I think they should try actually enforcing the rules that are currently in place (and I mean the rules that are actually in place, not one person deciding that buying wine as part of a shop is beyond the remit of “essential”) before adding new restrictions. If people aren’t following these ones why would they follow new, stricter, ones that could be equally up enforced.
