Will we be further locked down before Easter - Yes Or No

No point in putting this in AIBU as it will be moved so unable to use the vote functionality there.

There’s loads of threads about the rights and wrongs of banning exercise or other further restrictions but th3 fact is the government could do it

I think this weekend has shown too many people are unable to do what is asked of them as they all feel their circumstances somehow exempt them and, with a 4 day weekend coming up, it’s going to be too big a risk not to apply further restrictions

So will we be further locked down before Easter - Just Yes or No

Yes I expect all outdoor exercise to be banned this week. The weather is meant to get up to 21 degrees on Wednesday and people have shown this weekend that they arent following the rules so I imagine they will crackdown before the easter weekend.

TowerRingInferno · 06/04/2020 07:47

I see that the weather forecast for the Easter weekend has changed considerably, where we are at least, from warm and sunny to wet and cold. I hope this means that the government might hold off with further restrictions on exercise for a bit longer. People less likely to be out and about having picnics, BBQs etc,

StrangerDays · 06/04/2020 07:50

Yes, it's likely. I hope not, I will sorely miss my runs/walks.

Dickhead people being stupid and selfish. :(

aut0replenish · 06/04/2020 07:51

No they said the majority were following rules and we were thanked for our efforts. Most places empty and a few in a few spaces shooed away.Hmm

Snog · 06/04/2020 11:46

My expectation is that The current Lockdown will be extended for a further 3 weeks before review but further restrictions will not be imposed.

Wannabangbang · 06/04/2020 11:50

Anti vaxxers oh here we goHmm

We would all be dead from smallpox if it hadn't have been for the vaccine.

LouisaJenny · 06/04/2020 12:03

@Wannabangbang eh?

AmelieTaylor · 06/04/2020 14:18

I’m not sure

Thy still seem too keen to play nicely nice (& let it spread) to take such action, but if they don’t take action it’ll all be for nothing really. However, if they do lock down further they’re going to have to do more about enforcing it than they are now and do a better job of removing grey areas. However, that might mean they need to be more honest about the science and they might not be prepared to do that.

Still I think their modelling allows for idiots, but do we really want the outcome of their previous modelling. Personally I don’t, I’d rather less lives were sacrificed. Thanks very much.

It’ll be interesting to see what effect Boris going into hospital has on the action they take now

Having now received the letter and leaflet from the PM I really don't think the guidance is unclear. There are certainly people, some quite vocal on Mumsnet, who are using the letter of the law to find loopholes, but the spirit of what is required. I think the leaflet is clear, well written and informative.

AmelieTaylor · 06/04/2020 14:22

@mindproject

🙄 seriously, why not start your own threads with your conspiracy theories.

Most of the rest of us disagree the government just wants to use the vaccine to chip us & think it’s ridiculous.

You & your like minded friends can all batter on about how much more clever you are than the rest of us & rebel against a vaccine.

Smellbellina · 06/04/2020 14:23

No.

AmelieTaylor · 06/04/2020 14:25

@coachman. It still hasn’t arrived here.

I’m not really sure why they’ve done it when things should evolve as ‘science’ progresses. Seems a bit daft when they have the daily briefings which I imagine would reach virtually everyone. Plus obviously all the social media. 🤷🏻‍♀️

AlecTrevelyan006 · 06/04/2020 14:25

No

Lynda07 · 06/04/2020 14:26

Being as Easter is less than a week away, I don't imagine we'll be any less locked down; either the same or more.

sunglasses123 · 06/04/2020 14:27

How is the testing going? Its going on and on and I am fed up with people saying they have had CV, about to have it, am safe because I KNOW I had it a few months ago!

The Worried Well are out in force certainly in the circles that I sit in!

coachman · 06/04/2020 14:29

Amelie I don't really need the letter either, but I'm guessing it must be of use to some people. I certainly know some older people who will like having the piece of paper which sets out the requirements for us all, vulnerable groups etc.

What I think is clear though is that they wouldn't send a letter out after 2 weeks for a lockdown of 3 weeks. It will be much longer than that.

Whenwillthisbeover · 06/04/2020 14:31

Definitely

Janaih · 06/04/2020 14:34

Yes, I think this was the plan all along, they've just done it gradually to assess compliance as that is the most workable plan.

The majority of people are sticking to the rules. Put a few photos of rule breaking out in the tory owned media, people start blaming each other for the inevitable full lockdown rather than the government who were unprepared for this crisis.

MinkowskisButterfly · 06/04/2020 14:36

No but we should be.

frillyfarmer · 06/04/2020 14:56

@Janaih that might be your experience and I think perhaps in the more built up areas it may be correct, but not here.

It's a sunny day and we live remotely on a farm, three miles from the village. The footpaths and bridleways are busy with people walking and cycling and observing no social distancing. The grass verges have plenty of cars parked on them so it's safe to assume lots of people have driven here to have the pleasure of taking exercise in our usually quiet corner of the world. We're on the Viking way - lots and lots of walkers with backpacks who are quite obviously not following the rules on exercise and I can only assume are doing large parts of a cross country route - why? This lot need saving from their own stupidity, and in the meantime as farmers were having to touch all the dirty gates they've rubbed their germy hand on. Miles from any hand washing facilities in the middle of a field and without hand sanitiser thanks to panic buying - but as long as they've got their dose of fresh air, fuck the people who live and work out here, hey?

Janaih · 06/04/2020 15:27

@frillyfarmer sorry to hear that. Yes I am in a coastal city. There still seems to be wrongly held belief among some that it's ok to drive for your exercise.

ChipotleBlessing · 06/04/2020 15:32

I think it’s impossible to do it with BJ in hospital. He will need to front an announcement that big.

ChipotleBlessing · 06/04/2020 15:33

@Janaih the government clarified that it is fine to drive to exercise.

Janaih · 06/04/2020 16:06

@ChipotleBlessing do you have a source for that please?

MigginsMrs · 06/04/2020 16:11

@janaih Matt Hancock on QT the other day said people could drive 5 mins to a spot to exercise from. I totally cringed when he said it, but he most certainly did
