Lots out cyclists out, but can anyone honestly say every one of them look like they're exercising! Perhaps more evidence for for full lockdown?

Even if this is happening in London, it isn't happening where I live. There is still nobody out at all. And it's not sunny either. It has been cold and drizzly.

London is not representative of huge swathes of the UK.

PigletJohn · 04/04/2020 19:13

I notice the cameraman has used a long-focus lens to make people look closer together.

Daily Wail trick.

Applejaxx · 04/04/2020 19:13

Where did the get their coffees from when everywhere is closed?

Lizzy26j · 04/04/2020 19:14

Signed up just to write this. Long time lurker and found this thread while scrolling through. The camera person is my friend and he confirms it’s from today. He said don’t go to Richmond it’s crazy

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 19:16

@cantata agreed!

Very quiet here and I live in the south west! Beaches, parks etc are quiet.

Locals obviously are still out doing their exercise & grocery shopping.

I work in a hospital & my commute via the main road is very quiet too. Nobody is anywhere.

Some positivity from down West Grin

emmcan · 04/04/2020 19:16

London needs to be locked down. If the govt diverts enough police from the rest of the country it might be possible to do.

TheoriginalLEM · 04/04/2020 19:16

This morning I saw an article that suggested lockdown would be loosened in May.

What the actual fuck is wrong with people.

I only left the house today because i had to visit my mother as her carer said she was running a temperature. She wasn't, it was normal - poor thing was horrified when I turned up with gloves, mask and thermometer. I was pretty stressed

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 04/04/2020 19:17

I swear to fuck, people in NI used to have the water canon put on them for less. I really do think they should get the canons out, give the people 15 mins to disperse and turn the canon on the fuckers that don’t! Maybe add dye so they have a visual indicator that they absolutely and utterly flouted the advice!

wanderings · 04/04/2020 19:17

Boris’s spin doctors must be working overtime right now.

suk44 · 04/04/2020 19:17

Where are people getting the ice creams

I saw on twitter someone saying they spotted an ice cream van near the riverside.

champagneandfromage50 · 04/04/2020 19:17

that is odd as i live in london and in my local park everyone was social distancing and the police were driving round. In another park police were stopping people from going in - there must be a lot of arseholes in richmond

Lordfrontpaw · 04/04/2020 19:18

We live opposite a big park and walk around the lake as our exercise. My god the park was mobbed today - loads of groups sitting having picnics and sunbathing. Groups of people wandering around - they can’t all be households for goodness sake! Much busier than usual and people wandering around without bothering about the 2m rule - including the man sitting on a bench coughing away like a good ‘un and not covering his mouth. The police were around but not stopping anyone today.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/04/2020 19:18

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily - they sold off the water canons!

MinkowskisButterfly · 04/04/2020 19:19

Bloody hell! Thst is a disgrace!

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 19:20

@suk44 well if it’s from today then I apologise Sad it’s just SO quiet here throughout our county!

Unbelievable that people would be so stupid.

Can London have it’s own lockdown?

I’m a nurse and knowing that photo is legit has enraged me!

Melfish · 04/04/2020 19:20

I wouldn't be surprised if it is like this today. I live near Richmond and the local parks and towpaths have been reportedly busier than usual. There's certainly been more people out and about round here over the 2nd week as opposed to the 1st week of lockdown.

Doyoumind · 04/04/2020 19:20

If it is from today they are stupid. NHS Nightingale is completely the other side of London so it wouldn't be great for anyone from there if they had to be transported all the way over to the east for treatment.

Wakeupsunshine · 04/04/2020 19:20

Fake like the Bournemouth picture.

LittleLittleLittle · 04/04/2020 19:20

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily they sold them off because they aren't allowed to be used on the UK mainland.

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 19:22

@champagneandfromage50 your post makes me feel a bit better. That the police are least patrolling some parks

LittleLittleLittle · 04/04/2020 19:23

@Trajectoryoflife a talk radio DJ reported cycling through a different part of London today for his slot, and said it was much busier than last week.

suk44 · 04/04/2020 19:23

Fake like the Bournemouth picture.

You better tell people on twitter mentioning how busy it was in the area that they must be making it up too!

Oh my days Sad I need wine WineWine

Pleasedontdothat · 04/04/2020 19:23

There’s not big groups of people, there’s no BBQs etc - yes there are a lot of people but there are millions of people in London so that’s not really surprising. The vast majority of the people in that clip are keeping at a distance from others around them. For those of you saying that Richmond is an affluent area, yes it is but there are still lots of people living in small flats and beds it’s with no or little access to outside space. And those of you screaming for a total lockdown (whatever you think that might mean), be careful what you wish for Hmm

BrooHaHa · 04/04/2020 19:24

I was already fooled by the Brighton beach thread. I shall reserve judgement and outrage until I see this verified.
