Lots out cyclists out, but can anyone honestly say every one of them look like they're exercising! Perhaps more evidence for for full lockdown?

And even BJ admitted to shaking hands with everyone. Hes a virus spreader ...

But let's all blame the person who sunbathe 2m away from anyone else..Hmm

MissEliza · 05/04/2020 11:24

@TheCountessatHotelCortez I think that's the smart thing to do. In my local area, people are definitely abiding my the guidance. Why should we be deprived of our daily walk with the dog because a bunch of twenty somethings think they're different to everyone else?

Binterested · 05/04/2020 11:27

3000 people in Bushy Park is fine over the course of the day. For those who don’t know it it’s a former hunting ground. Very large. The BBC have a shock horror picture of the road through it with some cyclists on it. But people are clearly keeping their distance. I worry about the overzealous policing of this tbh.

Cary2012 · 05/04/2020 11:45

@Kastanian.
The Scottish minister has just apologised on national news for flouting the rules.
Hancock has just hinted that exercise will be banned.
I repeat, stay indoors.
Sit in your garden if you are lucky enough to have one.
Go for a walk, don't sit with anyone in the park.
You can repeat my posts as much as you like. It won't change the fact that people are bending rules. So the rules will be stricter.
The young guy jogging for twenty minutes on a quiet street who maintains social distance will have that stopped because yesterday people sunbathed for hours in a park.
The minority spoiling it for the majority.

cologne4711 · 05/04/2020 11:45

Here's another example of fake news. BBC photo versus somebody else's photo, using a different lens: twitter.com/PeterStuart3/status/1246749563349762049

See the difference?

I really do hope Matt Hancock and his advisers have some common sense, and don't take these stupid videos and photos at face value.

Kastanien · 05/04/2020 12:04

The Scottish minister has just apologised on national news for flouting the rules
Well that is OK then, I am sure that all those sunbathers will apologise too now they have been shamed on social media. So if you apologise, that means you are not contributing to the greater lockdown that is supposedly coming?

And thank you for repeating the lockdown rules to me. I understand them thanks. I will continue to take exercise in my local area though, as is permitted.

CarlottaValdez · 05/04/2020 12:05

The funny thing about that picture comparison is that even the busy picture shows no “rule flouting”. Honestly I’m so irritated with how completely people are swallowing the government line on this. You’re being trained to be furious at some bogie man London sunbather rather than at the government.

SimonJT · 05/04/2020 12:06

We’re back at home, we were out for about two hours and saw at most thirty people during that time.

daisypond · 05/04/2020 12:10

3000 people in Bushy Park is fine over the course of the day.
It’s Brockwell Park, not Bushey, which is not very large and is in Lambeth, one of the most virus-hit spots in London.

Binterested · 05/04/2020 12:13

No Bushy Park is referenced on the thread and on the BBC with threats to close it.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2020 12:14

This amazing weather we were promised today. It hasn't reached me yet so I am still in bed. Where's the lovely warm glorious sunshine that was going to get everyone flouting the rules?

Blibbyblobby · 05/04/2020 12:20

Can someone please explain this to me:

Police, local government and social media/MN well meaning didacts are saying “Stay away from the parks or we will have to close the parks”

What’s the practical difference between a park that’s closed, and a park that’s “open” but no one should use?

Shouldn’t the message either be “use the parks safely or we will close them?” Or “The parks are closed”?

suk44 · 05/04/2020 12:32

@Kastanien
What- not go out for a walk- which is legal?

The point I was making was to someone suggesting people should not have been filmed - I was saying that it's legal to film/photo someone in public.

I'm not sure how telling me it's legal to go out for a walk is supposed to negate that? Confused

MsTSwift · 05/04/2020 12:37

If they serious cyclists they probably have turbos should just use those. Dh and I both cycled for hours this morning he’s done a virtual race we knackered without leaving the house. If they can afford that kit they can afford a turbo

CeibaTree · 05/04/2020 12:40

No Bushy Park is referenced on the thread and on the BBC with threats to close it
A previous poster mixed up Brockwell and Bushy Park. It's Brockwell that had the 3000 people in and is being closed (although Bushy Park probably had over that amount of people in, but is 1,099 acres compared to Brockwell's 125.53 acres).

Kastanien · 05/04/2020 12:55

Suk What you actually said was If they really didn't want to be at risk of being filmed in a public place (which is legal) then it's probably best to...i'm sure you get the gist

So I filled in the 'probably best to...' bit with a suggestion.

What- not go out for a walk- which is legal?

Because an awful lot of those people on the film are just going out for a walk, as permitted. Why should they have been splashed all over the internet as if they are doing something wrong?

Binterested · 05/04/2020 12:55

They said Bushy Park on the news yesterday as well and the BBC photo is of Bushy. I think the story relates to both parks. Unless the BBC has effed up.

Binterested · 05/04/2020 12:57

But agree that 3000 people in Brockwell Park would feel quite different to 3000 people in Bushy.

suk44 · 05/04/2020 13:00

Why should they have been splashed all over the internet as if they are doing something wrong?

I assume you say the same thing every time any online/non-online publication publishes a story which includes any photo/video that has been taken of someone in a public place and makes them identifiable? Completely legal for the video to be published, which was the point I made.

OP posts:
suk44 · 05/04/2020 13:01

Oh and if you go sunbathing in a public place during a pandemic, yes you have done something wrong!

No one is getting a prize for staying in the most, or staying the furthest away from any other human being.

Not catching coronavirus?

Danglingmod · 05/04/2020 13:18

There is rule flouting - people are sitting down on the grass. Sitting down is not exercise! You are supposed to keep moving. And people who are walking and cycling are at times closer than 2m apart.

Blatant rule flouting - I'm not sure how anyone can say otherwise?!

Again you have chopped down the post, what I actually said was Because an awful lot of those people on the film are just going out for a walk, as permitted. Why should they have been splashed all over the internet as if they are doing something wrong?

Because while there are people on that film doing wrong, lots of people are not, and they are being shamed along with the others. But nice editing to suit your argument!

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 05/04/2020 14:31

Definitely Richmond (I live in Richmond) and masks do suggest timing is accurate.

At one point the SW Hospital Trust that includes Richmond was showing the highest number of deaths in the country. These idiots are behaving disgracefully.

I actually cannot believe what I just watched Sad
