Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

@fairygodmotherplease Yeah I'm similar will have better hours and then feel like I'm In a hole again, the air hungry thing is so strange I've had that a lot, sometimes with a lot of breathlessness and sometimes without. Not pleasant though x

mumlurker · 01/04/2020 22:33

@Fairygodmotherplease

That's exactly how I feel right now. I felt so breathless earlier i could hardly speak! But it passed quickly, now just feel a little breathless but I feel like I would love a great big puff on an inhaler.

Saying that, my lungs are nowhere near as sore as they have been. When i spoke to 111 they seemed to think unless you felt sharp pain or intense constriction, you were ok at home.

It's so hard to know how much breathlessness you're supposed to be able to handle at home when you've never experienced it before!

KinderWild · 01/04/2020 22:37

Hi - I'm sorry I have been feeling rotten and haven't kept up with much of 'my lungs 4' but was more active on 'my lungs 3'. Tbh this thing has left me feeling pretty depressed. I just can't seem to recover.
I believe I got covid during surgery back in Feb. The 24th. I spoke to my surgeon today and he want terribly surprised.
So I am on day 36. But I felt better around day 20, stopped resting and pushed myself.
I've just finished a dose of antibiotics. But I still have left sided chest pains and I am worried it's actually my heart. That might sound mad. I'm going to try and speak to my gp tomorrow. But wondered if anyone else had similar pains or worries. Xx

alittleprivacy · 01/04/2020 22:38

Anyone been able to breathe well enough but still feel oxygen hungry?

Yup. On day 15, I can mostly breathe ok apart from the weird tingly sensation. But I definitely have what would be described as that. I'm just desperate for big breathes all the time. Even though I can fill my lungs I still don't feel like I have enough.

Spacecadetagain · 01/04/2020 22:41

@SchrodingersKitty I’m so
Pleased to hear you are feeling better .
I’m feeling awful today .. the chest pain and grating sensation is horrific plus I’ve got the elephant on chest sensation . I hate this virus .. I’ve no oximeter but I’m doing the count to thirty and count back from twenty thing.

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/04/2020 22:41

Yes, that is exactly how I feel during my worst hours. O2 sats are fine but feel like I cant breath properly. That's been far the worst symptom for me.

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/04/2020 22:42

@Spacecadetagain what's the counting thing please.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 22:43

@SchrodingersKitty so pleased you are feeling well! It must be nice to have a bit of normality.
I hope your DH is ok and it's just stress Flowers

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 22:43

@stayathomegardener: thank you for your good wishes for DH. I am relieved that they are still doing investigations in the midst of chaos, and I'm managing to be fairly upbeat about all the other things it could be. I think he's been worrying a lot and he seems much better having relaxed a bit this evening. No headache at the moment.

I think we all know from our virus experiences how much worse anxiety and uncertainty makes things.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 22:45

The air hunger is my main symptom now on day 9. It comes and goes.
I was hardly able to talk earlier without gulping. My oxygen levels are 98%
It's so weird

mumlurker · 01/04/2020 22:47

Another thing that has caused me anxiety is the sheer length of time this has gone on for. I haven't seen any articles or anything like that suggesting it's 'normal' for this to last more than two weeks or so, or for symptoms to ebb and flow. I had temperature and nausea at the beginning for a few days, then nearly 10 days without these symptoms (replaced with horrible respiratory ones instead!) but now they're back. Hard to feel like this will ever end!

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/04/2020 22:49

@SchrodingersKitty so please that you are well again. Smile

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 22:49

@tangledyarn @Spacecadetagain @ofwarren: thank you all! I'm sorry that its still bad for you. It WILL get better. You know the mantra - rest, fluids, heat.

@KinderWild: you poor thing - you've had such a long haul of it. It does sound like you should check in with your GP about possible secondary infections. From my limited knowledge, I wouldn't have thought it was your heart - surely those pains are felt much higher than lung pains? (But I am definitely not a medical doctor).

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 22:51

@Lovelesslily: I'm really glad that your antibiotics are hitting the kidney infection - I was concerned for you last night.

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 22:51

Thanks @Porcupineinwaiting!

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 22:52

By the way, is someone making a new thread? Page 40 now.

Spacecadetagain · 01/04/2020 22:55

@Porcupineinwaiting one poster had been asked to count back from twenty and another to count quickly up to thirty on a previous thread . Ideally you can do it without drawing breath but being unable to do it without needing to keep getting your breath isn’t so good apparently.

Spacecadetagain · 01/04/2020 22:57

New thread here !
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3868595-My-lungs-Part-5

SchrodingersKitty · 01/04/2020 23:00

@Porcupineinwaiting: on the breath thing - I think the poster was told by GP that needing one breath in the middle of the rapid count to 30 was ok, but more than that might be an indication of breathlessness to seek advice about. My GP told me that the breathlessness is ok to handle at home if you are able to finish a sentence without a break to breathe.

fogginghell · 01/04/2020 23:00

Thanks @ofwarren good to know it can get better... I can't believe 6 days have gone by. I feel like it's been one long blurry day

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/04/2020 23:12

Thank you! See you on the new thread.

onlinelinda · 02/04/2020 00:17

@Sambucus I haven't had a fever so much as actually quite violent chills which have gone on and on. Even today after I posted I had them this evening, and went to bed. I'm seeing that as an improvement, as at least I'm up in the day, mostly, and can cook and do a few tasks. Ive been able to do that 4 days now.

The odd thing is that during the first week my temperature was loo low, but now is 36.6, so the continued chills are difficult to explain, though very real, and with cold skin. And my thermometer is reliable too.

Ah well, day 19 tomorrow. Onwards and upwards.
