Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

tangledyarn that is really helpful to know about getting a sick note; stayathomegardener thank you also for your reply to my post. I miss being able to do my garden. Massively struggling with fatigue and chest pain today so sorry not to write more to others just now.

IpeartreeI · 01/04/2020 13:42

I thought I was better and walked to the coop for some food. Felt exhausted and bronchial passages hurting. Also, somewhat out of breath. Felt like I was walking through treacle. Feel very tired. Ds2 says his passages are hurting as well, but he's okay in himself.

UncomfortableBadger · 01/04/2020 13:52

Really interesting Twitter thread from Dr Pam Spurr about her family coming down with (confirmed) CV and listing symptoms and how they varied between family members:

@woofwoof50 thanks for sharing your timeline as ok day 15 i have gone back to bed again feeling feverish and with burning eyes. I am worried the virus is making a resurgence. What did your GP say to return of aches and chills for you? Is it normal to dip in an out of symptoms?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 01/04/2020 15:10

It seems normal to dip in and out, yes.

Day 9, feel awful. Shakes shivers and painful to breath, struggling to get a breath.

Maybe worst is not wanting to tell anyone - everyone else has enough to worry about. Grateful for this thread, tho can't keep up with it!

stayathomegardener · 01/04/2020 15:20

@ScrimpshawTheSecond have you got an oximeter? If not order one today from eBay.

Naturallyunradiant · 01/04/2020 15:21

Felt better yesterday here but have hit the wall again today and have barely moved from sofa, single parent to 2 DC who have been brilliantly behaved and very patient with me.
Think pre teen DC may have the start of it though, slightly elevated temp in one ear and mentioned hand kept shaking involuntarily this morning, looks very washed out and pale Sad

mymoonmyman2020 · 01/04/2020 15:29

That’s so interesting @UncomfortableBadger. Thanks for sharing.

I’m day 10 here and still in bed mainly lying down - if I do anything else I feel unwell again. Just tried to do some work from bed on laptop and got really dizzy so had to lie down again :(

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 01/04/2020 15:30

Thanks, stayathomegardener, I'll have a look. Is it yourself looking after Muriel? How is she?

Naturallyunradiant, yes wall hitting here a bit, too. Actually a bit unnerved at how good the kids are being. Hope you and yours feel better soon.

Chimpd0g · 01/04/2020 15:43

Can anyone recommend an oximeter that’s ok for kids and adults. Can’t afford much but have seen some on amazon ranging from £20 to £60. Would rather get nearer the £20 mark

Lovelesslily · 01/04/2020 16:03

Checking in again here... I think Day 11.
Managed to sleep a little this afternoon and have actually woken up hungry! Not felt hungry in over a week so taking as a good sign.
Have a banging headache but this is apparently a common thing with the antibiotics I'm on (and probably lack of food as well). Earlier I had convinced myself I was struggling for breath but think it was just panic. I am ok now, just sore/tight band again.

Have recieved news that my cousin is in hospital with confirmed corona though... he is only 25 and diabetic. So very worried :(

stayathomegardener · 01/04/2020 16:06

@ScrimpshawTheSecond, Muriel is good, arms a little weak and headaches today but improving still, currently listening to radio 4 and eating chocolate buttons.

I'm really going to be loathe to let her go home eventually.

I'm looking after her as we both have the same thing DD and DH will help from next Tuesday as 14 days will be up.

I've found this from eBay to be accurate as far as I can tell. Fine for adults or children.

user34254356 · 01/04/2020 16:14

@casino218 are you continuing to take brufen or just a one off? How are you today? I recall you had fever on and off. Did it come with body aches? I had these symptoms on day 1 and now the same symptoms are back on day 15. I almost feel like i am restarting my journey!

Chimpd0g · 01/04/2020 16:15

@stayathomegardener would you mind posting link for oximeter? Thanks

@lovelesslily that’s worrying about your cousin but he is in the best place and hopefully they admitted him to be extra cautious

user34254356 · 01/04/2020 16:16

@lovelesslily oh no about your cousin. How long was he unwell for before he went to the hospital? Age is on his side so hopefully he will not get worse.

Getting hungry is great news! I still don't have an appetite and it's day 15.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 01/04/2020 16:17

Glad she's on the mend. Please send her my best. And hope you improve soon, too!

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 16:22

In case this is comforting (it was for me!) - one of the few times Ive seen it reported in the media that it takes 3 weeks on average for patients to recover. We’re not so crazy afterall!

Casino218 · 01/04/2020 16:25

@user34254356 been taking Brufen for chest pain. It's worked a treat. Feel symptom free now but it is day 23! Glad to be rid.

OP posts:
stayathomegardener · 01/04/2020 16:28

That's fantastic @Casino218 !

For the first time in three weeks my lungs are not burning today.

Feel like I've been put through a mangel but definitely getting there.

UncomfortableBadger · 01/04/2020 16:36

@Chimpd0g I managed to get a St John’s Ambulance oximeter from Argos, delivered same day for £23ish. Not sure if that helps?

GidgetGirl · 01/04/2020 16:37

Glad to hear so many people on this thread are starting to improve. I’m about 13 days from first low-grade fever/6 days from first getting a cough, and I’m not toooo bad today.. Worst symptom today is heartburn. If that’s what it even is? I know a lot of people have mentioned heartburn, and a lot of people have mentioned a general burning chest. Are they two separate symptoms or are people interpreting the same sensations differently? Whatever it is, it’s not very nice..

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 16:49

@gidgetgirl I think it’s the same symptom but unclear whether it’s actually heartburn or lung related. Given it seems to be relieved somewhat with Gaviscon it might be acid reflux / heartburn related.

tangledyarn · 01/04/2020 16:50

@user I still dont have an apetite at all..its so strange for me!

fogginghell · 01/04/2020 16:52

Hi everyone ,

Day 6 here ... very early says for me and I've just read that days 5-9 can take a turn for the worse so I'm panicking about that Sad I've developed back pain last night , no temp and cough seems to have disappeared ... total loss of taste and smell and rbis persistent back pain. Sad feeling abit teary and down today, and to think I'm only on day 6 ...

Porcupineinwaiting · 01/04/2020 16:56

Hey @fogginghell the fear of the unknown is one of the worst things about this illness. Yes you can get worse days 5-9 but you can also get better, or just chug along feeling grotty. Rib pain seems to be a thing for many on here.
