Continued support for those who need a few kind words to help them through the dips.

Please do not come here to ask 'but how do you know if you haven't had a test'

Hi there I was hoping for some info, I started having a terrible cough which I thought was a chest infection on March 17th. I have asthma so was prescribed antibiotics and also needed a course of steroids for my breathing. I also had diarrhoea for a couple of days around this time. I felt a bit better after a few days when I got the mother of all headaches was vomiting couldnt keep anything down, had to attend hospital for anti sickness injection. Felt ok for a few more days. Past 3 days I have been having bad night sweats, then yesterday evening started having sweating episodes which feel like high temp and more diarrhoea. Has anyone else had a similar experience, I'm not sure if it's all connected!! Sorry for long post!!

Spacecadetagain · 01/04/2020 19:33

@BeverlyGoldberg I barely go more than a couple of days without thinking I’m going to die .. that is the truth.. this is a very frightening and debilitating virus .. but if you read through the thread you’ll see lots of us have felt this way and then it passes. Please don’t hesitate to call 111 if you are worried because even a call back from a GP can be so reassuring. I was sent an ambulance the other night which terrified me but it was also very reassuring at the time .

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 19:34

End of day 16 here: positive and new achievements today were being able to make myself breakfast, watch kids bath time for a few minutes, laugh a few times with my DH and have a bath before bed. Hearing people being able to do more than that is impressive and inspiring that I’ll soon get there as will others!

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 19:36

@Joey88 it could definitely be connected and you have many symptoms of what others have. The virus can change up and down over time and give new symptoms weirdly too!

mymoonmyman2020 · 01/04/2020 19:40

@EMichel102 that’s great to hear :)

I sat downstairs for dinner and felt pretty normal for most of it - it made me realise how ill I was feeling before!

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 01/04/2020 19:43

Flowers and a handhold to everyone feeling ill or anxious or both.

It seems to come and go - a variety of symptoms. I find it worse in the night and Id sat at least part of that is anxiety- harder to distract myself at night. Also seem to get the shivers and shakes at night. Am reminding myself that's my body fighting it.

Drink lots of water.
Rest as much as you can.
Remember that 99% of people will get through this.
Remember that anxiety makes things worse.
Call 111 if you are having trouble breathing.
Try lying on your front or side.
Vitamin C and D are good for immunity.
Headspace has guided meditations.
Crap TV seems to have helped me today.
Don't read the news more than once a day.
Keep popping in here if you need reassurance, there's usually somebody about!

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 19:46

@mymoonmyman2020 yes the virus takes you to a really tough physical state (I thought the worst at points). It must have been nice to be present and social at dinner for once!

EMichel102 · 01/04/2020 19:48

@ScrimpshawTheSecond yes lying on my front saved by 4 am wake up and heart palpitations allowing me to make it back to sleep somehow through them! Good tip

Zzzexhaustedzzz · 01/04/2020 19:50

@Joey88 Lots of us on here have had symptoms like that.
I too am on steroid tablets. Never had to take them before. I’m on day 21 since symptoms began. Just starting to perk up - I say that cautiously because it’s been so up and down.

Casino218 · 01/04/2020 19:50

I'm 23 days now and feel back to normal ( well except tired). Hang in there and keep supporting each other. Please take over this thread someone when it gets near to 1k so you can continue to support each other through the difficult days. Take care x

Those of you whose kids have had it, how long were they coughing for?
My 4 year old who isolated with me for 8 days is still coughing a lot. Makes me nervous as we are out of isolation. He's totally well in every other way though. Running around like usual, whereas he was lethargic and breathing heavily a few days back.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 19:57

@Casino218
So pleased you are almost back to normal and thanks so much for this thread.

Lightsabre · 01/04/2020 20:01

Hopefully he had a mild case ofwarren and is recovering.

A Doctor from 111 has just rung me and did a breathing test over the phone (take a deep breath then start counting quickly - he timed how many seconds I could do without stopping for breath - if it's 5 seconds or under then they need to do a further assessment at hospital). Mine was 10 seconds so reassured that wasn't really bad. Still feel very weak - need to force some food down.

jakesmommy · 01/04/2020 20:04

How long do the symptoms last for, I am on day 21, although I feel somewhat better there are still signs of the virus, the worst being a pain in the right of my chest that comes and goes, my sore throat had mostly gone but the chest pain is the thing I worry about the most, sometimes find it hard to talk without coughing too. Thought it would be over by now, worried it could progress further

Elllicam · 01/04/2020 20:06

I’m having a bad night tonight. A lot of central chest pain, dizziness and shortness of breath. Phoned 111 and they told me to eat something. Wtf. I got my husband to listen in to my chest and apparently I have crackles in my right base so there is definitely something wrong.

fogginghell · 01/04/2020 20:07

Hope everyone is coping this evening f ThanksBrew

I'm almost at the end of day 6, dh day 7, he seems to be a lot better today thankfully -

I still have the lethargy with backaches earlier today which seem to have eased.

Do most people feel worse as the days go on from here onwards or is it possible to get better and stay better after a week?

I know lots of you are on days 10+ and my heart is sinking as I'm seeing how long it's going on for ..

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 20:08

@Ellicam
Do you have an antacids?
Sounds daft but they do seem to work for some of us.
I'm sorry you are feeling so bad.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 20:10

@Fogginghell
I'm on day 9 and my worst days were 3 and 4.
My symptoms are still there but more mild and I'm not getting any worse. I even managed to spend some time out of bed today.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 20:11

@Fogginghell
My symptoms are burning chest and back and very weak

hollytom · 01/04/2020 20:11

@LarkDescending I have that pain too but no to the urine. What did your GP say?

WanderingLost167 · 01/04/2020 20:12

Day 14 here and tight chest and dizziness. Slight chills and just feel achy and tired.

Almost feel like I'm being choked. I've been luckier than most in that it's not been too severe, no real breathlessness or fever. I'm just getting down as to whether I will ever feel well again.

Elllicam · 01/04/2020 20:12

Thanks @ofwarren. I will try an antacid and my husband is making me up a nebuliser. Luckily I have an 02 probe so I’m comforted that my oxygen levels are ok at the moment. I’m due back at work on Friday though and I don’t think I can do it.

BeverlyGoldberg · 01/04/2020 20:12

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming. I've been feeling so alone as I haven't told many people, just parents and a couple of very close friends and I don't want to worry them.

I have ordered an oximetre.

I have AFIB on my Apple Watch turned on. It's saying "0" so I guess that's ok.

The vision disturbance has passed now and heart rate has come down.

I tried to measure my peak flow earlier but just collapsed into coughs on the forceful out breath so I couldn't get a decent reading but it looked to be down.

ofwarren · 01/04/2020 20:13

@LarkDescending
Could you possibly have a kidney infection? Have you had any antibiotics?

Elllicam · 01/04/2020 20:16

@BeverlyGoldberg I hope you are ok too. This is all so scary.
