How come Prince Charles gets a Covid test but front line NHS workers can't?

Prince charles has corona and, unsurprisingly him and Camilla have managed to have tests.....

He’s the heir to the throne, of course they’re going to test him.

Marieo · 25/03/2020 10:39

The mind absolutely boggles that a member of the royal family with a lot of money can get their hands on a test, a similar level of surprise at 'celebs' being in a position to buy them.

Rosehip10 · 25/03/2020 10:39

I'd rather ICU doctors and nurses were tested than the Royal family.

They used NHS resources in Aberdeen to have the tests - not private.

Is this a serious question?

You don't understand why Prince Charles was tested. Ok.

AcheyBreakyArms · 25/03/2020 10:41

Oh behave op.
He's 71. Have a little empathy. And I'm no royalist, by any stretch.

SerendipityJane · 25/03/2020 10:41

You need your strength and health to be royal, donchaknow ?

A community whose freehold land is owned by the Prince of Wales has complained about huge rent increases and an inability to buy their own land.

The Duchy of Cornwall, which last year made £21m profit, owns and leases land on the Isles of Scilly.

In recent years, some leaseholders have seen annual rent put up from less than £100 to over £7,000 by what one former MP called a "money-making machine".

Mockerswithnoknockers · 25/03/2020 10:41

Presumably being deputy head of state is a key worker?

Rosehip10 · 25/03/2020 10:42

So Charlie has symptoms and the NHS rush to test? A ICU nurse with symptoms is told to go home for 14 days.

I know which one I'd rather have back at work.

I'd rather ICU doctors and nurses were tested than the Royal family.

Irrelevant. He’s the heir to the throne, he’s going to be tested.

PicsInRed · 25/03/2020 10:42

Reading between the lines, he's symptomatic.
He has been absent from view for a while and the media were already speculating. Someone's hand has been forced re: releasing the information.

When they say "mild", they mean in the medical sense, as in that he is not in hospital.

I would guess he has COVID19 pneumonia, which is why we are now being told.

juneybean · 25/03/2020 10:43

"The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing." -shrugs-

Donkeytail · 25/03/2020 10:43

Mad how he is being treated like royalty isn't it?

TeaMilkNoSugarThanks · 25/03/2020 10:45

How many people does Prince Charles come into contact with in the course of a day? Or over a working week? Of course he should be tested, if only to warn those people.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 25/03/2020 10:45

Possibly because a member of Buckingham Palace staff tested positive resulting in the Queen going to Windsor early. It wasn't disclosed who he came into contact with but investitures were being carried out at BP. I would imagine any of the 500 BP staff who have developed symptoms would have been tested.

Prince Charles may have developed symptoms.

FeatherCastle · 25/03/2020 10:46

Pics* is right, miles means pneumonia doesn't it

FeatherCastle · 25/03/2020 10:46

*mild
Stupid auto correct

DietChic · 25/03/2020 10:47

Who does he think he is, eh? Next head of state?

TokyoSushi · 25/03/2020 10:47

Oh give over OP

Maybe83 · 25/03/2020 10:48

Because he was in close contact with Prince Albert of Monaco who also tested positive.

He was displaying symptoms and is also in the high risk category. Of course he was tested.

Nmagain · 25/03/2020 10:48

He’s heir to the throne. Of course he should be tested ffs

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 25/03/2020 10:48

Of course he would be tested- it shouldn’t be an either or anyway. The icu nurse should be tested.

Squigean · 25/03/2020 10:49

I don't know. I can't think of a single reason.

sonjadog · 25/03/2020 10:49

I really wouldn't begrudge him a test. One single test. He is over 70 years old. All the best to him.

Mockerswithnoknockers · 25/03/2020 10:50

He's in Scotland, and so technically it is the Duke of Rothsey who has tested positive
