Prince charles has corona and, unsurprisingly him and Camilla have managed to have tests.....

viques

If he dies would Andrew become heir apparent, or Anne as women can now be considered in the line of succession. Or would Wills still be in the running.
If Charles died then William is next in line to the throne so he would be heir apparent (followed by George, Charlotte then Louis).

Anne is currently 14th in line to the throne so, unless a lot of people die, it is incredibly unlikely she will accede to the throne.

FlockofGulls · 25/03/2020 11:40

They used NHS resources in Aberdeen to have the tests - not private

If ever we needed to get rid of the cultural deference to the Windsor family (benefit scroungers par excellence), now is the time.

SansaSnark · 25/03/2020 11:43

I imagine he paid for it.

You can too, if you can afford £375. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52007155

If I was in my 70s, I'd think that was worth it.

Forza14 · 25/03/2020 11:44

Harry would be King before Andrew.

It goes -
William
George
Charlotte
Louis
Harry
Archie
Andrew
Beatrice
Eugenie
Edward
Louise
Frederick
Anne
Peter
Zara

Forza14 · 25/03/2020 11:45

Anne wasn’t bumped up the list because of the rule change with Charlotte. It didn’t “backdate”.

Tartyflette · 25/03/2020 11:45

I feel much sorrier for all his household staff at Balmoral, who will probably still have to squeeze his toothpaste into his toothbrush, run his daily bath, cook his six breakfast eggs (so he can have the perfect boiled egg) and deal with his laundry.
And probably lots more besides.

Sizeablecontours · 25/03/2020 11:46

I'm on the fence about royalty but I imagine it would be good to have him tested in as much as he is one person that people would really remember meeting, so it would help from a tracking point of view? Maybe?

DitheringDoris · 25/03/2020 11:47

The hatred for the royals on here always turns my stomach, it comes across as resentful bitterness. I don’t understand it and I’m not a royalist either. I’m indifferent.
He’s a 71 year old displaying symptoms, in Scotland he is entitled to a test, he had one. I hope he recovers quickly as I wish all that have the virus recover but unfortunately many won’t.

iVampire · 25/03/2020 11:48

I imagine he paid for it

Deffo imagination - they announced he had in on NHS Scotland because he met the Scottish criteria

And I doubt they’d lie on the record - the default setting is to be silent, not lie, and it would be so easily and quickly bubbled if this were not true, no-one’s that stupid

HebeMumsnet · 25/03/2020 11:50

Morning, everyone. Just a reminder to stick to our guidelines. We know we're all about ready to bite someone's head off right now but we will still have to delete any personal attacks.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to HRH, too.

AJTracey · 25/03/2020 11:51

Money!

Gingernaut · 25/03/2020 11:53

He's in the high risk group, he's probably been in contact with a member of the Royal household who's got it, his mother is in her 90s and the Queen.

It's kind of a big deal.

FlockofGulls · 25/03/2020 11:55

Given that someone puts his toothpaste on his toothbrush for him, I imagine he won't be isolating from the many people who cook and clean and carry out various other duties

Given the way he talked about one of his secretaries some years back (he was sexist and racist about her) I doubt Charles Windsor even thinks of the people who work for him as fully human.

SenecaFallsRedux · 25/03/2020 11:56

Edward
Louise
Frederick

Edward's son is James, not Frederick, and he comes before Louise.

listsandbudgets · 25/03/2020 11:56

Question is how closely has he been in contact with his mother?

AvocadoOwl · 25/03/2020 11:56

I really can't bring myself to get worked up about this.

Duckingell · 25/03/2020 12:01

You weren't actually asking a question OP were you?

Of course he's going to be tested. He's the heir to the throne.

All NHS frontline staff should be tested too, I agree, but no one is going to let a member of the royal family just drop dead.

Thefaceofboe · 25/03/2020 12:05

He’s the next king of England. Of course he’s going to get tested.

SenecaFallsRedux · 25/03/2020 12:09

Anne
Peter
Zara

After Peter his daughters: Savannah and Isla, then Zara, followed by her daughters. Then David, Lord Snowden, and his children. And then the Chattos, and so on and so on.

lowlandLucky · 25/03/2020 12:11

He comes in to close contact with many people every week, those people need to made aware that he has COVID-19. That is why he has been tested.

LackBladder · 25/03/2020 12:14

He’s over 70, showed symptoms. Being royalty has fuck all to do with it.

I’m high risk, showed symptoms, got tested, along with my family. It’s how it works.

Canshopwillshop · 25/03/2020 12:15

Oh FFS if you can’t understand why OP there’s no hope!

20wedding19 · 25/03/2020 12:15

As others have said. He is in the high risk group and next in line to the throne who as part of his role has had a lot of recent contact with many people.
Don't be so utterly ridiculous OP

Katinski · 25/03/2020 12:15

listsandbudgets secondary question - how closely has he been in touch with his wife?Wink

TheMemoryLingers · 25/03/2020 12:16

I am a republican and I think there is more the Royals could be doing to support the nation's efforts - particularly, offering their large residences as hospital/recuperation/isolation space.

However, Charles has contact with multiple people so it was right to test him. I hope he recovers quickly, as I hope all confirmed sufferers do.
