Thank you.
For a haven of sane in a sea of stupidity. Never more so than this morning.

Namethecat · 24/03/2020 09:13

Thank you for the thread and linking . It was taking until page 6 the last time !

LeeMiller · 24/03/2020 09:13

Agreed. And special thanks to everyone updating with data etc, it has been invaluable but please take a break if it gets too much.

TwentyViginti · 24/03/2020 09:25

Indeed, thank you all for these threads and all the updates and info, and basically just being here Flowers

Horehound · 24/03/2020 09:29

I had a terrible night. trying to look for ways to get my brother home. He went to Cambodian embassy which is an absolute joke. He knew more than they did!

Horehound · 24/03/2020 09:36

Do people realise this social distancing is really only to help the NHS pressures? It's only going to delay us getting it really in the long run.

RosieSunset · 24/03/2020 09:42

@Horehound Sorry to hear you had a hard night last night quine.

morning all. I do Horehound and so do schools and health service etc. All people in roles involving planning are aware of the road ahead. Unfortunately when I spell it out to some friends and family I'm told to shut up and stop being so negative. I'm not being negative only trying to get the reality of the situation across. I've got family members happily booking up holidays for July saying it will be done and dusted by then.

mrshoho · 24/03/2020 09:48

@Horehound really hope your brother finds a way to get back.

justchecking1 · 24/03/2020 09:55

Yes, I think people are misunderstanding the point of social distancing. It's not to avoid catching it ever (unless you're high risk), it's to avoid catching it all at the same time so the NHS can look after those that need it (in a proper bed rather than a corridor) in a less pressured manner. We're all likely to get it sooner or later

middleager · 24/03/2020 09:59

I predict a spike. 2 weeks for all this weekend's pisstakers and mother's day visits to show symptoms then an additional 2 weeks for related deaths.

All of the people who have been enjoying the sun this weekend will overload the NHS.

Sadly, action needed to be taken sooner.

Saucery · 24/03/2020 10:04

I’m working on a basis of aiming ‘not to catch it this week’. I think that’s all we can do for now.

Shit, I was hoping that staying in would mean we would be less likely to get it Sad we are staying in anyway, but I feel stupid now.

RosieSunset · 24/03/2020 10:10

@Saucery Very Arya Stark

What do we say to the God of Death?

Not today!

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm stunned by all the "can I still...?" threads I've seen so far. I never realised that people were so stupid.

Horehound · 24/03/2020 10:14

Could I ask you to please sign this petition which is asking the government to charter a flight to get tourists and workers back from Cambodia to the UK. It would mean a lot to me

My neighbours appear to have gone on holiday. I just can't fathom it....

woodencoffeetable · 24/03/2020 10:20

it's also about not passing it on which many people can't seem to understand.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 24/03/2020 10:26

Between my neighbour from hell and trying to work my hours around my toddler I am at the complete exhaustion stage.

I have to do 7.5 hours work a day. I am getting up at 5am and doing a couple of hours then. Then working from 7PM until 11pm. But still missing 1.5 hours doing this. I am already exhausted and its only day 3! Trying to keep a toddler entertained in a small flat with no outdoor space is tricky at best! I am going to collapse of exhaustion by the time this is all over.

I am of course relieved that we are all safe ish at home. But it is things like this that are going to leave long term problems after this has gone away.

LeeMiller · 24/03/2020 10:29

What is really making me despair at all the threads asking if you can do x, y, z is the total failure to grasp the rationale behind them. Yes, you might technically be able to do x or get away with y because the loophole hasn't been closed yet, but you shouldn't. It's not supposed to be a challenge to see how creative you can be in circumventing the rules! Once again nothing is being learnt from Italy etc.

Saucery · 24/03/2020 10:38

Oh RosieSunset that made me cry. In a good way! Grin

EmeraldShamrock · 24/03/2020 10:47

Do people realise this social distancing is really only to help the NHS pressures? It's only going to delay us getting it really in the long run The numbers who are sick versus the population of the country, would it mean we can avoid catching it at all.
Ps I'll sign for your brother ❤

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 10:48

Care home update... more positive today! two staff back from their 7 days isolation. Three original 24/7 campers gone home this morning, two staff moved in to replace. Staff seem a bit calmer... still very short staffed and back to if one more person goes off we're screwed ( but not to lowest point where we had two staff for ten people).
Still low on PPE- government delivery mentioned last week hasn't come.

Not out of the woods but can see light through the trees. Fingers crossed!
