Has anyone actually seen the PAYE scheme working yet? Are there some monumental catches as you'd expect? I'm hoping for a similar announcement for the SE today but wondering if money is actually going to be accessible.

So many cars still driving past my house

Some boys out enjoying their motorbikes in the sun

If any of them had an accident I hope they realise the consequences of needing A&E or intensive care right now

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:51

It feels like it suits people to blame the workers not the bosses or government.

NemophilistRebel · 24/03/2020 11:51

The company I work for (I’m not there right now as on start of maternity leave) Has instructed everyone to be in.
They are in construction.

I’m so disappointed in them.

Makes me reconsider whether I’d want to work for them when I am due to return from maternity leave

bananacakeZ · 24/03/2020 11:54

Thanks mrshoho

noword but why? Noone else can buy. I would fork out £££ and in worst case scenario on a house I couldn't possibly move into for 2 years. Best case probably a year.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:54

The government told building sites to continue against the wishes of many in COBRA.

SistemaAddict · 24/03/2020 12:00

So many people out and about this morning. Maybe mr pointy brown shoes has an essential role but lots of neighbours who don't have gone out.

kirinm · 24/03/2020 12:03

Just read that there isn't likely to be any provisions for the self employed for a few weeks. That means tubes will be rammed every day.

Very grim news coming out of Spain of a care home discovered with many residents deceased that was found abandoned when services arrived there. No words...

TheElementsOfMedical · 24/03/2020 12:23

I am absolutely boggled by the number of posters who apparently "just caaaaaaaaaan't doooooooo it" with modifying any aspect of their behaviour whatsoever, yet "caaaaaaaan doooooooo" vast and energetic amounts of mental gymnastics to justify aforementioned "essential" special behaviour Confused How the fuck do they think other people in other countries have managed for weeks?

Quartz2208 · 24/03/2020 12:23

Donald trump's approach is going to be scary I tihnk

SansaSnark · 24/03/2020 12:31

@MurrayTheMonk Just wanted to say I'm really pleased things are looking up for you re: staffing. It sounded like a potentially really scary situation!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2020 12:32

@bananacakeZ, then pull out. I'm not sure why you've decided you can't move house for a year, perhaps 2. There's nothing to indicate that. If you're serious and want the house, proceed as far as possible. If you're not going to bother, pull out, just don't leave the sellers in limbo.

Those tube photos are hideous. I would not be getting a tube right now. Grim.

Devastating. Spanish carers have just walked out and abandoned the elderly to die in nursing homes.

Horehound · 24/03/2020 12:37

That is absolutely horrific
