Thank you @EmeraldShamrock :)

Listening to radio and a woman whose last chance IVF has been cancelled due to this. Sobbing. She sounds so defeated. This has such long reaching effects for people in ways I hadn't even thought of-away from immediate health, economy etc...

Sky News Breaking - 'The Spanish Health Ministry has announced 2,696 people have died after testing positive for covid-19 in the country which is an increase of 514 deaths since yesterday and 39,673 people have tested positive for the virus which is an increase of 6,584 cases.'

From the Guardian live feed

“Britain’s youngest MP, Nadia Whittome, has returned to her previous job at a care agency in Nottingham to help with the coronavirus crisis.

The Nottingham East MP said she would donate the salary receives from her part-time role at ExtraCare to a local Covid-19 support fund.

The 23-year-old said:

I am returning part-time to my previous job as a care worker because social care is already in crisis and the care system is in serious danger of falling apart at the seams during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Care workers work tirelessly to support communities, yet rarely receive recognition and pay that reflects their contribution.”

Those Spanish numbers... why are there's and Italy's so high compared to the rest of Europe?

bananacakeZ · 24/03/2020 11:04

Bit of an AIBU but my estate agent says they are still working and is pushing me to progress a sale that is in early stages. Am I wrong or will it be virtually impossible to do anything, and definitely not possible to move. They are threatening to put the house back on the market. I don't see how anyone else is going to say any different to me?

Everyone on my street seems to have gone to work today, and road were busy as usual, not sure Boris was clear enough, at all.

danni0509 · 24/03/2020 11:05

Thanks for thread

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:06

Bussiness themselves need to be told to close- staff wont just stay at home by themselves and risk getting sacked and not getting even the 80%.

Matt Honeycombe-Foster - 'New YouGov poll finds Boris Johnson's net favourability now +20 - up from -2 last week.'

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:10

Kevin Schofield - 'Boris Johnson net favourability rating now +20, according to YouGov, up from -2 last week.
But he's been overshadowed by Rishi Sunak, whose rating has gone from -6 at the end of February to +49 now.
Watch that go even higher if he announces help for the self-employed later.'

Horehound · 24/03/2020 11:13

They are both very touchy feely countries right?maybe that has played a part? Although France is too..I'll go look at those numbers.

MarshaBradyo · 24/03/2020 11:13

Thanks for thread. Just got my first text from UK gov with link to rules.

mrshoho · 24/03/2020 11:13

signed for your brother @Horehound

Better news thankfully @MurrayTheMonk

@RosieSunset Good on Nadia. I don't even know what party she represents but very admirable and an example to other MPs

@bananacakeZ I dont know. Even if you could get all the paperwork done remotely, they would need signing and then the actual move involves contact if you have removal firms etc. I can't imagine it being possible for the time being.

Nice bit of PR for Nadia. Talk about making the most of the opportunity. It's great that she's doing it, but the crowing about it and making sure everyone knows is a bit galling

Matthew Goodwin - 'Boris Johnson's approval ratings hit their highest point on record in both Ipsos-MORI and now YouGov

NET SATISFACTION
July 2019 -21
December 2019 -11
Early March 2020 -3
Today +20

"his highest rating by some distance since becoming leader" '

mrshoho · 24/03/2020 11:16

@bananacakeZ Also they can threaten all they like to put it back on the market but noone can view house for the foreseeable future.

Horehound · 24/03/2020 11:19

Thanks you @mrshoho

It does seem as if every company is working as per...
No one wants to risk staying home in case of being sacked. Bloody ridiculous.comoanies have been told but what they've heard is to stay open Confused

Immediately after the speech the site director of my husband's work place emailed everyone to sat to still come in and they will be handed a letter to keep on them at all times in case of being stopped.
They did an exercise last week to identify who was essential but they've not thought far enough and just gone "right, you. Yep you're needed" when ok, they might be needed some of the time but they could work from home the majority...
It's very annoying!

Horehound · 24/03/2020 11:21

Yeh I'm also not sure why they'd put it on the market Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2020 11:25

@bananacakeZ, do you mean a purchase, or are you selling?

If you're buying, I think you should at least show willing to progress as far as you reasonably can in the circs (not very!). Ultimately they're pushing because they rely on getting their fees in which won't happen if things can't complete, but I do also think you need to continue to look committed to the transaction.

picklemewalnuts · 24/03/2020 11:26

My mum needs to sell her house. It's nigh on impossible to see how to proceed.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:27

Hospital just rung and told me they like to see me on friday. Now to decide if to get the bus or a cab there.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 11:34

Ava-Santina - 'Sadiq Khan has told @mrjamesob on @LBC he argued at COBRA that construction workers should not be going to work, but was over-ruled by Boris Johnson.'

AutumnRose1 · 24/03/2020 11:35

pickle is it to avoid bankruptcy? Might be special exemptions?
