Full lockdown - notice?
amy85 · 22/03/2020 21:27
If we go into full lockdown how much notice would we get?
wowfudge · 22/03/2020 21:29
I imagine next to none given what has been going on in the shops, but it will depend on the terms.
iwanttoshakesomeppl · 22/03/2020 21:30
I'm guessing a day. It needs to happen unfortunately as so many people act like nothing is happening!
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/03/2020 21:31
They'll give next to none. A massive portion of Brits spent the final night the pubs were open, practically on top of one another crammed into their locals.
I reckon 5pm press conference will announce a midnight lockdown.
Grasspigeons · 22/03/2020 21:31
I though Boris gave notice today? Each time he says ' we might have to start thinking about' it then happens pretty quickly after
Tumbledryer1 · 22/03/2020 21:32
Probably not a lot at all, but it really needs to happen as so many people are not listening and putting others at risk by their selfish behaviour
spacepoppers · 22/03/2020 21:32
Hopefully none. So the idiots won't have time to pack up their cars and head for their coastal homes. If they haven't already.
22Giraffes · 22/03/2020 21:34
Daily Mail said we'd get 12 hours notice the other, but they're hardly a reputable source so make of it what you will!
JanewaysBun · 22/03/2020 21:35
The sensible answer would be an hour or so but seeing as Boris is not handling Thai well he will probably give 24-48 hrs
DullPortraits · 22/03/2020 21:35
I anticipate he will announce in tomorrow's press conference in affect of midnight following. He said he is making serious consideration in the next 24hrs to step up tougher measures.
Blizy · 22/03/2020 21:35
If we go into full lockdown will we be able to receive deliveries of non essential items? I'm due a baby in June and need to order baby equipment.
niffynoonoo · 22/03/2020 21:37
I`d imagine 12 hours, so those working away can just get home.
amy85 · 22/03/2020 21:37
@NewIdeasToday sorry probably should have worded as would we get some notice?
rainbowunicorn · 22/03/2020 21:38
ideally they will anounce it at 3am with 1 hours notice so that it is in effect by the time people get up. That will help stop the arseholes leaving the cities and descending on small rural commuinties in their droves.
CeibaTree · 22/03/2020 21:38
In France they got until 12pm the following day to get to wherever they wanted to spend lockdown.
CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 22/03/2020 21:38
Problem is any notice would just turn into twats having a 'final hurrah' just look at what happened in the pubs on Friday. So probalbly none.
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/03/2020 21:39
I think one of the rules is that your lockdown location is your primary address (the one on your drivers license if you have a card license/the one you have your payslips sent to etc).
FecktheBoss · 22/03/2020 21:42
Can they lockdown before the coronavirus bill goes through on thursday? I suspect it will come then
Itsjustmee · 22/03/2020 21:42
Really stupid question but I’m due to attend court on Fri an I have to travel 4hrs to get there and stay overnight
I’m assuming if we go into a full lockdown then
Hotels will be shut
Will the courts be shut as well
My solicitor doesn’t seem to know much 😂
But I really don’t want to do a 4hr drive and then get told court is not open
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 22/03/2020 21:43
I wondered if he wanted to get the emergency legislation through Parliament first.
FecktheBoss · 22/03/2020 21:48
I've just checked and yes, the MPs have to debate, amend and pass the coronavirus bill before lockdown, given that they will need time to return home, most likely Friday.
PicsInRed · 22/03/2020 22:06
Iirc, Wuhan received 7 hours notice, but it was 3am for a 10am Sunday lockdown. Wouldn't want to sleep late that day.
One foreign-based couple had to absolutely boot it from the family/in-laws home after hearing of the pending lockdown around 9am when they woke up. Crikey to that.
PicsInRed · 22/03/2020 22:07
given that they will need time to return home
Never a more pointed word spoken.
LienD · 22/03/2020 22:09
In Belgium the news of the lockdown was announced at 20h, and starting next day noon.
