If we go into full lockdown how much notice would we get?

Oak “I think it will be announced in the 5 pm briefing so example 5 pm tonight for everything to close midnight the next day, ie tomorrow.”

Sorry, are you thinking 7 hours notice or 31 hours notice?

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 08:11

I would think 7 hours notice would be sufficient rather than 31, so that people don't bugger off to their coastal hideaways.. if they haven't already Angry

I agree with PP about being at your primary address.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 08:12

Matt Hancock on bbc this morning confirming that they are discussing this afternoon and putting a bill through to allow them further powers in regards to shutting stuff down curfews lockdown etc

Sounds like it's coming soon then hopefully.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/03/2020 08:15

bookish
Yes. I also had very little newborn stuff and needed more. Only bought a 3:pack of sleep suits and vests.

Aww lovely times. Enjoy 😍

Oaksquarebox · 23/03/2020 08:15

If he announced 5 pm tonight the country closes at midnight tomorrow so 31. Just my thoughts.

mocktail · 23/03/2020 08:18

New Zealand have just given 48 hours notice.

AutumnRose1 · 23/03/2020 08:27

I’m not at my primary address

I left for mum’s last week in anticipation of lockdown

I don’t want her to be left alone, especially if she gets ill

I hope that doesn’t get me into trouble.

I can get to my home in 7 hours but then what, she’s alone for 3 months?

TheLette · 23/03/2020 08:28

The point around solicitors not knowing what's going on - the government doesn't publish information which can only be seen by solicitors. We get it at the same time as everyone else. We just have the skills to interpret / advise on legislation.

LemonGingerCakes · 23/03/2020 08:33

I hop they’re very, very clear about what full lockdown means and about what is and isn’t allowed.

Part of the problems are that so much is unclear and open to interpretation.

KoalasandRabbit · 23/03/2020 08:35

Think its about half a day though hopefully won't be announced at 2am like in Wuhan. Though things tend to shut down over a day.

I wouldn't go anywhere you can't get back in a couple of hours atm and watch news closely.

TheGinSoakedBoy · 23/03/2020 08:35

Is it a stupid question to ask if buses would still run? I'm assuming so for key workers?
Im guessing we would still he allowed one person per day to the shops.
I think it will be announced tonight at 5. Coming into effect in the morning.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 08:38

Yes totally agree with this, we had pubs serving pints through windows here at the weekend!! We need clear guidelines that leave nothing to be interpreted

Duchessofblandings · 23/03/2020 08:42

None, I hope.
If the idiots who will have caused it by wilfully ignoring advice are given notice, they’ll all be out on the streets again for one last hurrah.

Duchessofblandings · 23/03/2020 08:46

First I very much doubt it, they were forced to close down by Saturday morning. Second, how do you know? You were out, presumably?

NormaLouiseBates · 23/03/2020 08:48

@Rebellenny yes, you'd be allowed to go to work if you can't work from home and your work is still open/operating.

@ValleyoftheHorses thank you for that, that's a relief. I know getting to a bank isn't the most vital thing at the moment.

goldpartyhat · 23/03/2020 09:03

10 days

goldpartyhat · 23/03/2020 09:05

Pressed too soon, in 10 days we will get 24 hrs notice

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 09:23

Pubs are finding loopholes! They are serving take aways. I didn't leave my house over the weekend but there was complete uproar on the local Facebook about it because they advertised it and then the locals that live down there posted pictures of all the people congregating!

They then agreed that is was a wrong decision and then decided to close fully.

This won't be the only one doing this!

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 09:23

Sorry massive bold fail!

Blizy · 23/03/2020 11:15

Thank you all for advice. I have made a few online orders 🤞I can get them delivered.

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 11:24

If a lockdown happens will they still keep the schools open for those few that have been agreed like key workers?
It's just all the sorting out on Thursday /Friday for school to close completely say tomorrow.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/03/2020 11:48

Yes - but id imagine they'd tighten up to two key workers (or one in a single parent family).

CeibaTree · 23/03/2020 12:16

I don't think they can wait for 10 days if people are continuing to flout the government social distancing advice. In 10 days time there would be no point trying to contain the virus/flatten the curve if things carry on the way they currently are.

Wannabangbang · 23/03/2020 12:21

I'm hoping no warning, that day it's announcement it should be or people will go nuts like the pub crawls before official closing!!

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 12:28

I'll put fiver on. This Friday. At 2pm. With 8 hours notice.
