We have an allotment a mile away from our home, where my husband and son keep chickens and racing pigeons, would my DH still be allowed to tend to them? its seems really extreme to think he would be expect just to leave them, but im so anxious i just cant think straight...

Asmoto · 23/03/2020 16:30

dottiedodah Financial services employees who provide essential banking services are classed as 'key workers'.

user1497207191 · 23/03/2020 16:31

My question would be are we able to shop at the nearest large supermarket about 2.5 miles away

No one knows until it's announced.

hoodathunkit · 23/03/2020 16:32

A lockdown is urgently needed IMO

I live in sheltered accommodation with many extremely vulnerble people

i am disturbed by the sound of my upstairs neighbour coughing convulsively. It only stops when she makes one of her frequent trips about town. She is elderly, has a learning disability, is fairly stubborn and feisty and will not be told anything.

People outside are generally not paying attention to social distancing. Asking people to keep their distance, even very politely, results in a range of responses, so far I experienced the following:

"If I get it I get it. If you're so vulnerable you should be staying indoors"

"Don't be so rude I watch the television too we dont need to be that far apart"

"I'm visiting my mum it's mother's day and you can't tell me what do do"

I have also, when out at a quiet time on the streets been almost knocked over by a teen on a bicycle cycling on the pavement and had to step into a car park to avoid young men jogging on the pavement, unconcerened about keeping a distance

I suffer continual pain, made worse if I do not get strenuous exercise. I have been unable to go outside to the private garden in the sheltered accomodation due to my upstairs neighbour's frequent use of the only lift

I coul use the stairs but a different unwell neighbour has been staggering slowly up the stairs clinging on to the rails as he does so. "I just can't stay in my flat all day" explained yesterday "don't worry it's just a smoker's cough"

I am beside myself with distress and in a lot of pain. I am really really angry. Sort it out Boris, some people are not able to control their desire to go out, some have the mental age of a child, some have alcohol problems, some are uncaring psychopaths / disgustingly selfish, whatever the reason they are placing the lives of the rest of us at risk

You need to act NOW

PS

Some of use NEED to exercise outside to stay healthy. People like me with lung and other health conditions have had no choice but to socialy isolate for years to avoid crowds of smokers.

When we end up on lockdown people like me should be given bicycles, some of your Boris Bikes would do, and we can get our exercise and also deliver stuff. We can wear gloves and a mask and whatever and try our best to stay safe

sort it out please

My DP works away during the week and has some things registered to his address there and some here. He's working away somewhere else today/tomorrow so I'm hoping we get more than 4 hours as there is no way he could get from where's he working today back to his 'week day house' (where all his clothes etc are) and then back to me/home within 4 hours tonight. Hopefully if he left tomorrow/after lockdown began he could get back here as his driving licence and passport etc are registered here.

Just switched BBC on and noticed usual Prime ministers briefing isn’t going ahead today?

But on the positive side at least the MP’s in the House of Commons appear to be sitting far apart from each other not sure whether it’s the full 2M but better and looks less close than last week.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/03/2020 16:51

It's due to a COBRA meeting, he's due to speak later this evening apparently but not sure when..

crapette · 23/03/2020 16:51

By yourself! It includes your home address so it can easily be verified if you have strayed too far.

You have to print a new form for each trip and tick the box that applies to your trip, then sign and date it. Also you have to carry ID - second nature to the French, but not so much for Brits.

There was initially an option to have t he form digitally on your phone, but that got withdrawn very quickly (not sure why though).

A handwritten form is acceptable if you don't have a printer.

The Gendarmes need to be able to read the form from a safe distance.

No idea how/if this would work in the UK. The French loooooooooove paper Grin

Aridane · 23/03/2020 16:52

Thank you, @TheMemoryLingers - I was concerned I might not be able to get home!

HugeAckmansWife · 23/03/2020 16:56

I'm in a similar position to the pp with regard to contact. I live a considerable distance from ex. He usually sees them eow but we've planned a fortnightly rota as school is off (childcare / work not an issue). They'll cope if they don't see him for months but not if they don't see me, so I'm worried about letting them go. For those saying, 'no notice needed' you must have very straightforward simple lives, or else know more than we do about exactly what will be allowed. Both mine and exs households are low risk, no underlying conditions etc so with absolutely minimal stops for wees on route, travel to and from, while not ideal, would not involve more contact with the outside world than shopping but if we get to the point of needing travel permits, I doubt this would qualify.

kittykat7210 · 23/03/2020 17:00

We don’t have a printer but my husband is a key worker and needs to be able to get to work. I also need to be able to go to my pregnancy scan on Wednesday, my husband needs to drive me and therefore our daughter needs to come with us!

notimagain · 23/03/2020 17:14

There was initially an option to have the form digitally on your phone, but that got withdrawn very quickly (not sure why though).

I believe it was discovered that there was potentially a conflict with French, ( and/or possibly EU) data protection legislation.

Basically it was believed there was a chance the providers of the software could quietly be gleaning personal data about individuals from the info that they were filling in on the attestations...

Shame...would have saved on printer ink and paper, though I guess having to go through the whole filling in by hand performance makes one think whether that outing is really worth the effort..

AutumnRose1 · 23/03/2020 17:14

crapette thank you.

No access to a printer but could wave a phone at them or do a handwritten one of course.

Aridane · 23/03/2020 17:30

What do you need notice for? You'll still be able to go out for essentials, ie to pick up shopping or medicines

To get home

Devlesko · 23/03/2020 17:37

We don't need notice, when you are told, you go home.
I wish they would hurry up, and bring the Army in to sort the weirdo's who are licking things, spitting at NHS workers, attacking old people, slashing ambulance tyres, etc.
Maybe, the morally bereft could be made to work, give them something to do. Perhaps National service would be good for them.

Kapps123 · 23/03/2020 18:05

I am really stressing about this. Both myself and my ex are keyworkers. We work opposite shifts (me on nights). My DD either stays there or at mine if he is on an early shift. Can we switch her around? Can he stay here (as sometimes happens). I feel worried sick with no knowing.

ilovecakeandwine · 23/03/2020 18:06

To get home
Well of course you'll be allowed to get home . You can't really go anywhere at the minute anyway except work & the supermarkets so It shouldn't take you too long . My dh works a hour away but they are not going to make him sleep there for weeks . Hmm

mrssunshinexxx · 23/03/2020 18:08

Speaking at8.30pm
Here comes lockdown

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 23/03/2020 18:09

Yes - I think lock down may be coming our way.

SingforAbsolution · 23/03/2020 18:25

@mrssunshinexxx I said the same. Done later so that not as many people can rush out and panic.

LostInTheColonies · 23/03/2020 18:29

NZ. We were told yesterday afternoon that lockdown starts tomorrow. Time for people to make last preparations if necessary.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/03/2020 18:49

Not sure if I'm in the minority but I'm glad and I hope that is what's announced the sooner we are in lockdown the sooner all the thousands of people who have it and are carrying on their business can self isolate and get over it at home and the ones that need help will be able to get it then this awful awful time start to be moved forward from

Wannabangbang · 23/03/2020 18:51

I'm hoping it's tonight as people still aren't listening. Lockdown will help our NHS and save many many lives

Aridane · 23/03/2020 18:52

Actually, it will take me quite a while to get home. Currently supporting a parent on DNR in hospital in a different part of the country to which I live - thanks
