My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

I'm very confused about why 7 days and not more- although I do understand the logic of 14 for others.

I also also confused why it's being counted differently and variously.

i felt a lot worse today even though day started of well. i felt so weak like i could collapse and chest and back pain as well. my cough seems better but worse than yesterday. i also has diorhea again! which i have had for the last 16 days on and off. my appetite is back so yest and today i ate fine. strangely i feel better this evening but i get breathless easily so have been in bed for most of the time.

i dont even know what day this would be? monday i noticed my cough was a lot worse and on tuesday it was horrendous ..so maybe day 6-7? however i have had upset stomach since 5th march on and off? its manageable at home and nowhere near as bad as the flu i had 10 years ago.

tempestterra · 21/03/2020 19:27

angell84 that's really great news things are getting better for you. If you have the time and the energy, would you be able to make a second thread? It's such a positive and helpful thread. According to quite a bit of stuff I've been reading I'm about to enter the most unpleasant/ dangerous zone which is approx day 5-8. Not too comfortable at the moment, the sickness has come back and I feel like I have an iron belt strapped to my back. Hoping it will shift again soon.

onlinelinda · 21/03/2020 19:28

We just need a doctor to poo on the thread and answer all our questions 😄

I have just been told by DH that someone in my village has confirmed CV. He has posted about it on an online forum (not publicly accessible or I would post the link). One of the features he describes is the sensation of burning lungs... He is recovering well.

GuyFawkesDay · 21/03/2020 19:31

I'm driving myself a bit mad. For over a week I've had a heavy feeling in my chest. I've had bronchitis before, it feels like the start of that.

But no fever. No cough. No symptoms as such.

Today it's started feeling more noticeable....I think I'm driving myself a bit crazy "symptom spotting"?!!

GuyFawkesDay · 21/03/2020 19:32

It feels like I've been out running on a cold day. That sort of feeling?!

DandyPenguin · 21/03/2020 19:32

Lol at poo on the thread 😂

That’s the last thing we need, IT can be passed on by fecael particles you know Wink

I’m being one of those people I hate Asking about symptoms but my GP dismissed me because I’m complex and told me to call my specialist who was away for weekend by then. Specialist recorded message all week told me to call gp and never answered my voicemails looking for clarification. On Thursday 111 had told me to call my GP on Friday and I did but was dismissed.

Last Thursday I was a bit weak and tired feeling, with a headache and warmer than usual but not a high fever. Friday I had this weird tremor throughout my body that hasn’t really gone away (like a flu tingle when you first get it or like my limbs are dizzy?) a sore throat and headache and bad dizziness. I’ve now had the sore throat, headache and dizziness for the entire week. On Thursday I started feeling pain when I breathed low down (not where I’d feel wheezy with asthma or my usual chest infection) by Friday It felt really prickly and sore, particularly after a deep breath. Mild exertion gets me breathless but again not like being asthmatic. Can’t bend over or can’t breathe. I’ve a slight cough but not what you’d call persistent, more mildly irritating. I don’t have asthma symptoms at the moment and taking inhalers only relieves it a wee bit at its worst. I take a medicine that means my immune system doesn’t respond normally so signs of illness may not be standard but no one can tell me if that means cv would be different too. I also take hydroxychloriquine which I hear can decelerate the progress of the disease. Both kids had a dry cough two weeks previously but I can’t think we were anywhere near anyone with covid in that time.

I expect it’s not but I’m reading people here saying they had similar mild but still horrible symptoms. As GP doesn’t want to know and I can’t get hold of my specialist... might as well ask random unqualified people on the internet

SubordinateThatClause · 21/03/2020 19:37

Anxious lurker - quite reassured to read your journeys through this. Thank you for sharing it with us. Glad you're mostly on the mend. Please continue to part 2 - really, really helpful for those with health anxiety.

I'm also an emetophobe - glad to read not a whole lot of vomming involved.

onlinelinda · 21/03/2020 19:41

Have you tried ringing back 111 and saying that NOBODY is listening? Describe your symptoms. Lower lung stuff can be dangerous can't it? Be persistent.

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/03/2020 19:43

If someone could start a second thread that would be wonderful. I'm actually quite scared, and I can't tell anyone that in real life because that'll just make them worry. Most of the internet is doom and gloom at the moment and a thread for mutual support and reassurance would be lovely. I particularly appreciate all the updates of people coming out the other side.

StinkyWizzleteets · 21/03/2020 19:43

@onlinelinda they said if I didn’t have a high fever and a persistent cough it’s just a virus and to call my specialist on Monday. The elusive specialist.

stayathomegardener · 21/03/2020 19:43

I think it would be helpful to state what day we are on and list symptoms on thread two.

findingschools4myboys · 21/03/2020 19:46

@angell84
Just want to say I am sorry about what happened to you but super happy that you are feeling better! 😊

stayathomegardener · 21/03/2020 19:49

Im confident now I caught it from my 85 year old very frail neighbour who is still going with it at almost 3 weeks! So can it really be CV
She has been describing the burning lungs as an acid reflex.

The restrictions on testing is a nightmare.

I think there was a poster up thread from Australia who tested negative.

Superbrew · 21/03/2020 19:54

@longshot so it's not just me. I have been confused I have a sore throat at what I guess should be the end! Hope we all feel better soon

Superbrew · 21/03/2020 20:03

@katkincake I have had back pain as well from last night, I was in so much pain last night just wanted the kids in bed so I could lie down. Bit better now but still there

AvocadoOwl · 21/03/2020 20:08

Is the weird metallic taste thing specifically a COVID-19 thing or is it common in seasonal viruses too?

I was ill from the back end of February through to the first week of March, on and off. Very similar symptoms to some of those described here but nothing dreadful. I think I only took to my bed on two occasions about a week apart.

Anyway, I had the metallic taste thing sooo badly! Wasn't quite metallic, sort of a strange bitter sourness. At the time it was so strong that I was quite alarmed about it and did loads of googling to figure it out. It must have gone away until I read a GPs experience of it with CV and now I read other people on here too!

Does make me wonder!

AvocadoOwl · 21/03/2020 20:10

Meant to say it must have gone away as I had forgotten all about it until I read the GPs account. It didn't spontaneously return on reading about it Grin
