My lungs feel like they are on fire. Anyone else

I was on here last week saying it was all an over reaction. I am one who usually tries not to panic. And that is what I was thinking. It is not good to panic people. I also thought that it was blown up in the media. Well. Now I am sick myself. So I have learned - it is actually happening. I am scared

I have been ill for three days, chest pains, - heavy breathing. And what is very scary to me - my lungs feel like they are on fire. It is a feeling that I have never felt before. I am really scared. Where I am - I am being told to self isolate. If it gets more serious - I will go in somewhere.

But I am really scared. Does anyone else feel like their lungs are on fire? Is anone else sick

I'm on day 8 and so much better overall but still lingering chest and breast pain and very tired. Get well soon everyone.

I'm honestly quite pleased to have caught it early, which sounds odd but I feel relieved somehow and also hoping I can help poorly friends and family more easily.

The metallic/sour/bad taste in mouth is interesting. I don’t have it so much at the moment but had it for months, starting way before this. Eventually decided it was due to tooth decay/filling breaking which I haven’t been able to get looked at because of work & other commitments - things finally eased enough to go to the dentist and now this!

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 20:13

In feeling something in my lungs now, I've had strange taste too. I had Diorah on Tuesday? Stomach pain, stomach still not right.

StinkyWizzleteets · 21/03/2020 20:14

I thought one of the early detection things being discussed now was complete lack of taste and smell. Is the Metallic taste early on or towards the end?

Lifesavesocialdistance · 21/03/2020 20:15

I'm so scared with the waiting and feel very angry I've had to go out and work when I was happy to isolate myself and my family two weeks ago.

Everyone who wanted to should have been allowed. Thinned us all out then.

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/03/2020 20:18

I know @Lifesavesocialdistance but it's done now. And here we are.

Superbrew · 21/03/2020 20:19

I had the strange taste and then near complete lack of small taste afterwards, but strange taste was for about 2 days early on

AvocadoOwl · 21/03/2020 20:19

The metallic taste I had more more towards the end of my illness. I could have had any old virus though, who knows.

Superbrew · 21/03/2020 20:20

Smell not small sorry, and the strange taste was actually strange smells as well. Horrible, it put me off eating.

Roostersmum2 · 21/03/2020 20:25

I've had the foul metallic taste for the past two days. I do believe I'm on day 3 of "symptoms" though don't have a cough or temp yet.

Mine are gastrointestinal disturbance, fatigue, aching painful limbs, constant need to clear my throat

longtompot · 21/03/2020 20:27

Can I ask how long you all had to wait for a dr to all you back after calling 111? My ED (22) phoned today around 2.30, got to speak to the call handler around 3pm and was told in 2 hours she should hear back. I know they are hugely busy so wasn't expecting one in the time frame, but just wondered is she going to get a call at midnight or maybe not at all?
She started feeling unwell about 3 days ago, but as on various meds for chronic pain, thought it could be those. Our thermometer said her temp was 35 degrees, but this has gone up to 37.3 in the past day (our thermometer is rubbish so we have been using a meat one). She feels really hot, achy joints, pain where her kidneys are and hurts to pee (she drinks a lot of water), headache, food tastes odd, has been dizzy and disoriented and sometimes gets her words mixed up.
She did tell the handler she has a younger sister who is on immunosuppressive meds.

clairethewitch70 · 21/03/2020 20:37

longtompot - I phoned 111 at about 10pm. They phoned me at 3am.

longtompot · 21/03/2020 20:42

Oh my! So with that time frame, she should have heard by now. Thank you @clairethewitch70

blossombabies · 21/03/2020 20:49

i rang 111 at 8pm had a dr call back at 3 am

tangledyarn · 21/03/2020 20:51

I got transferred to a medic straight away when I rang them but they had wanted to call an ambulance and I and said no so maybe that was why. I wonder if your daughter has a uti? Sounds possible from the symptoms you're describing. Hope they call you back soon xx

I’m beginning to think I might have already had it. I started the second week of feb with a really sore throat for about 48 hours. It then moved onto a high temperature and a feeling of serious pressure on my chest. Felt out of breath just taking 20 steps, I’ve got asthma so used to breathing issues with colds etc so didn’t think much of it at the time.

It was difficult to breathe for a few days, everything ached, had very sore eyes and a continuous headache - I spent most of the time asleep. After about 4-5 days of this i started to feel better and thought I was done.

24 hours of feeling ok I then started with a continuous dry cough, to the point where I could barely draw breath between coughing fits and threw up on several occasions.

The coughing lasted about 7 days and then disappeared. Also had tummy issues thrown into the mix at one point, can’t remember exactly when. All in all took me 3 weeks to feel human again.

I’ve been seen by the asthma nurse recently as although I feel fine - my breathing hasn’t quite returned to what it was pre-virus and ive had to be stepped up medication wise to deal with it. Would love a test to see if Ive actually had it or not!

onlinelinda · 21/03/2020 21:13

Well I made that last week from an article on WHO.

The numbers are percentages. It was a summary, taken from the article at the bottom.

My doctor says chills count with fever.

And that milder coughs count.

@StinkyWizzleteets that's outrageous. I think the GP needs to respond or you get advice from 999 depending on how breathless you feel. Say nobody is helping you, and you can't keep doing the runaround in your circumstances!

Or ring the hospital?

onlinelinda · 21/03/2020 21:15

Sorry- That note I made is based on 55, 000 cases not 55%.

Roostersmum2 · 21/03/2020 21:16

@tangledyarn can I ask how you were doing at the point 111 wanted to send an ambulance? I'm wondering because the general gist I'm getting is that the NHS is reluctant to help until you're very very bad as in deaths door. I was somewhat reassured to read your post.

coronade · 21/03/2020 21:21

Just wanted to update you all that sadly my aunt died this evening. She had been doing ok but took a turn for the worse at lunchtime (day 10) and the decision was made to stop all treatment. They fitted a syringe driver. My cousin was allowed to sit with her till 8pm (she lives alone) and she died shortly after she left. She was 96 with leukaemia and would probably have died in the next few months even if she hadn’t caught coronavirus.

Porcupineinwaiting · 21/03/2020 21:25

Casino218 · 21/03/2020 21:27

Sorry to hear that @coronade Thanks thoughts are with you x

Casino218 · 21/03/2020 21:29

I'm about day 12 now. Cough has gone thank god. Slight pleurisy. Still tired. DH wiped out today, high temp, tight chest. I reckon he's behind me by 3 days.

findingschools4myboys · 21/03/2020 21:44

@coronade
Really sorry to hear that. 🙁
