AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

45 only because I bought a 32 pack in Tesco yesterday - shelves were bare. In my defence, dh has Crohn's so a supply is always required.

Tartyflette · 13/03/2020 23:40

Ian - wow, a Japanese toilet! They are wonderful and definitely on my wish list for our next house.
We do have a bidet anyway, i wouldn't be without one.

Floralnomad · 13/03/2020 23:41

I’m not going to count but probably 60 or 70 rolls ( Andrex) however that’s the norm for us and I’ve actually only bought 2 x 9 packs of Andrex since this problem started . I’ve also got 5 litres of Carex anti bac soap as we always get that in bulk from Costco to refill the liquid soap bottles . We also always have a fairly large supply of hand sanitiser as both of our dc are germ phobic.

bluechameleon · 13/03/2020 23:41

Around 38 I'd guess. I buy 48 at a time online and we aren't very far through the box. What I'm worrying about is pasta - there is none available for our Tesco delivery on Sunday and DH recklessly cooked most of what we had for dinner tonight. (Obviously I'm joking, I'm well aware that there are many other foods we can eat instead of pasta)

Adviceneededplease9 · 13/03/2020 23:41

About 27

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/03/2020 23:41

About 40.
Another Who Gives a Crap customer. I had my last delivery about 3 weeks ago but I still had a few in stock. The rolls are double length though.

Unbridled · 13/03/2020 23:43

I have four unopened 9 packs and 4 rolls on the holder in the bathroom. However I didn’t buy them all at once, I pick one up regularly when I am in the shop and try to keep a few in the cupboard at all times in case there is more of a shortage. I was doing this before the virus too due to the risk of shops running out with Brexit panic buyers/supply issues and shops have also ran out near me during bad weather. However I have ulcerative colitis, go through toilet roll quite quickly, and don’t want to risk running out..

Samtsirch · 13/03/2020 23:43

I have also overheard conversations where people have said if they run out of toilet paper they would just use flannels/ towels/ even hands and then wash them.

Willow4987 · 13/03/2020 23:45

About 25 or so but only because I always buy the biggest pack available as it’s cheapest per roll and I got these before talk of panic buying began, it was just my normal purchase - I do the same with everything I get like washing liquid, kitchen roll, nappies etc and always have done. I just like to get the best value for money

Ginkypig · 13/03/2020 23:45

About 45 plus the couple I had left in the old packet but only because I always bulk buy 45 online and coincidentally needed more so they arrived yesterday. Iv not bought any more or sooner than I would normally have.

SisterVanHelsing · 13/03/2020 23:47

We bought our usual 2 9-packs to last the week tonight. Not an area with a recorded Covid case so far, though there has been noticeable panic-buying in the last week or so.

Target10 · 13/03/2020 23:47

48 Family of 5, last bought toilet roll mid Feb because I thought things were heating up, I’ll probably buy more in 10 days or so.

Dementedswan · 13/03/2020 23:48

Family of 4.... 3 males because that makes a difference 🤣 we have 1 in use and 2 in the cupboard.

motortroll · 13/03/2020 23:48

I have a pack of 9 in my car and approx 9 in the house. I bout a 9 pack with my usual shopping as I had almost run out but since I got the second to last pack I picked up a pack when I saw it today. I have 3 kids so that will do us 2-3 weeks. So more than usual but not stockpiling!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 13/03/2020 23:51

Two unopened 6-packs (so two months' supply or so) and then two loose rolls in the bathroom basket/storer which will last us a week or so before we break into one of the new packs.

Toilet rolls are bulky whether you buy just one pack or lots, so I tend to get a trolley and buy three or four 6-packs in one go (I normally buy groceries little and often and just use a basket), so I only have to remember/bother to do it three or four times a year.

VanGoghsDog · 13/03/2020 23:51

About thirty. Live alone but did decide to add a nine roll pack to my shopping a couple of weeks in a row, in case of needing to isolate.
And that includes my Brexit emergency stash.

In there I also have two large bottles of bleach which I am very happy about.

I don't need handwash as I use bar soap and I always get loads for Christmas. Though I have two bottles of handwash too as people give me that even though I don't ask for it.

themarkofthemaker · 13/03/2020 23:53

24 spare, don't use many either, should last 3 months

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 13/03/2020 23:53

About 60. Normal for me. I live in rural Australia and I can only really get to the supermarket once a month, and even then i can't count on that this time of year because it's flood season so roads close and supply trucks don't always get through.

In a way it sets us up quite well for a lock down because we're very used to not being able to buy essentials from the shops, being unexpectedly stuck in the house indefinitely, potentially with power and/or water shut off, and having to keep emergency stashed of stuff. It's just a way of life for us.

bruce43mydog · 13/03/2020 23:54

3 which is unusual for us cause usually we have about 36 rolls that we buy in a big pack. Hoping the the panic buying is going to stop soon though cause the supermarkets can't cope with the demand and the ones who arnt panic buying are getting annoyed that they have to go to lots of shops to get the items they usually get under one roof

Pimmsypimms · 13/03/2020 23:55

We actually have about 35. Tbh, that's more than I've ever had. I picked up 2 packs of 24 on 2 separate occasions. (3 days apart).
I wouldn't usually buy that many. I would usually have bought 2 packs of 9. We do have 4 toilets though, so need to make sure there's a few spares in each. I won't be buying any more until I'm down to 2 spares in each toilet.

shinyredbus · 13/03/2020 23:55

We’ve got loads - not through panic buying but we have it on repeat order.

rosiejaune · 13/03/2020 23:56

Three. But they are only for guests; we use family cloth.

shinyredbus · 13/03/2020 23:56

We also have a bidet so not so worried about cleaning our butts should we run out 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

VanGoghsDog · 13/03/2020 23:57

I mean, I don't normally have this many, probably normally have about ten, but the idea of being down to your last roll, or even two, is alien to me!
