AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

A full pack of 24 and 4 loose rolls in the loos so 28.

WagtailRobin · 13/03/2020 23:27

I tried to do my usual weekly shop at Tesco's this afternoon, but I really shouldn't have bothered because there was little on the shelves; No pasta, no rice, no tinned soup, no tinned tuna, no tinned veg, no teabags, no toilet roll, no kitchen roll, no handwash, no shower gel, no sanitary towels, no bleach, no Dettol etc etc, the entire thing is insane and I honestly can not understand the frantic stockpiling, I think it is wrong on every level.

In answer though to the question, we have one roll left because Tesco's didn't have any at all today but I will get some tomorrow, hopefully.

Marmite27 · 13/03/2020 23:27

Though, of those 40, 12 are stuck on top of the wardrobe. Will rescue them if necessary.

madcatladyforever · 13/03/2020 23:27

i have 2 rolls left and there are none in any of the shops round here or online. I've got bottles of water ready because it's coming to that.

Doyoumind · 13/03/2020 23:28

You must all have huge houses. I don't even have any space to store that many. I've never had more than 6 in my house at one time.

grannyshark · 13/03/2020 23:29

We just stack them up in the corner of the bathroom, they come wrapped in lovely paper which coincidentally matches our bathroom theme - black and white geometic shapes so don't look at all ugly.

ThinkPinkStink · 13/03/2020 23:29

Shamefully I have 54.

But I didn't panic buy them. I just always buy two packs of 9 when they're on offer on Ocado. I haven't bought any more than normal. But I'm still The Place To Poo amongst my friends if times get hard.

Goatymcgoaty · 13/03/2020 23:30

We have around 55. I bought 2 packs and so did DH (unbeknown to each other). We get through 12 a week ish.

Coughsyrupsucks · 13/03/2020 23:30

We always have loads, because in Amazon you can/could get 72 delivered at once. And I got our usual delivery in Jan. I’ve been keeping count recently and we get through 4 a week! I’m going to have to ration it soon Grin

Wheresthebiffer2 · 13/03/2020 23:31

5 spare rolls, and one in each bathroom, so 7 in total. Normally that amount wouldn't concern me, but I would have bought perhaps another 4pack today (but the shelves were empty).

Itsmybirthdaytoday20 · 13/03/2020 23:32

We generally only buy in packs of 4 because we don’t have room to store. Always just get a new pack when we’re onto the last one. We’re currently on the last one of a pack with a new pack sitting but my OH only had to go to one shop to get it so apparently no issues here so far.

amazedmummy · 13/03/2020 23:32
  1. I usually buy a big pack on payday but 9 was the biggest I could get.
LadyOfTheCanyon · 13/03/2020 23:33

I'm still working through my Brexit Panic Stash so I've currently got about 25 in.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 13/03/2020 23:33

8 - bought yesterday as we were in our last roll, had to go to 3 shops to find any though

HeyAreYouOK · 13/03/2020 23:35

About 30, but that's just the normal amount we have. I bulk buy and like to keep a month ahead if i am able.

PumpkinP · 13/03/2020 23:35

6, family of 5. Surprised at how many people have! I need to get more but struggling to find any.

shortytrekker · 13/03/2020 23:35

About 40. We are rural and always buy in large quantities as it's something I begrudge having to use fuel to drive and collect if we run out! We should get more really.

IanHislopForPm · 13/03/2020 23:35

2 rolls of loo roll 😳 I have Crohn's disease so I'm reverted to showering after going to the loo which is 8+ times a day showering is the one thing that doesn't make my arse hurt and bleed.

Also in our new house I saw on the fixtures and fittings that the loo is a Japanese one with a in built bidet and a bum cleaner so I. Think we're be ok

tiredanddangerous · 13/03/2020 23:35

27ish. The 9 packs were on offer a few weeks ago so I stocked up.

hedwigismyowl · 13/03/2020 23:36

Pack of 24 unopened as we buy a bag at the end of the month when DH gets paid. Hadn't quite finished the last packet, so probably about 27. That will last ya a cpl of months tho, so no panic buying here.

We have various soaps, bubble bath, shower gel, aqueous cream, washing up liquid so not worried about the lack of soap. Has a bottle of kitchen cleaner and a bottle of bleach- both open, so we'll be fine.

More worried about biscuits for the cats tho. They can live without wet food but they both love their biscuits.

Pixxie7 · 13/03/2020 23:37

4 rolls but live alone, still trying to work out the panic.

Tartyflette · 13/03/2020 23:37

Coming to the end of a pack of 9, two left, bought a replacement 9-pack about a week ago.

Bowerbird5 · 13/03/2020 23:37

3

ThunderPython · 13/03/2020 23:38

I've got about 12.

I'm OK though because I have a Best One shop on the next road and it's not on a main road, so it really is for locals only. They've got their usual stock at the usual prices. So I plan to get my usual 2 packs of 9 from there tomorrow.

Samtsirch · 13/03/2020 23:38

I know people from work situations who have access to cash and carry businesses who have completely gone overboard with the toilet roll situation and now have nowhere to store it, and are praying that it doesn’t rain ☔️
