After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

I thought I had eight. Then I ventured into the Hell Room (the stupidly messy spare bedroom) and found 12. So 20.

But dh and ds use them like fresh air.

6 rolls and about to run out of liquid soap, have a bar of soap here from christmas gift set too but finding hard to buy in shops

user1471590586 · 15/03/2020 18:11

4, and there are none in the local shops. People have been bulk buying when the big stores open and leaving none for others.

MadamShazam · 15/03/2020 18:14

We have 18, more than enough to last weeks. To be fair we live in a remote village so usually well stocked up with everything we need anyway!

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 15/03/2020 18:14

1 packet of 16 and we are a family of 6. Hopefully there will be plenty when we next need to buy some

M2B19 · 15/03/2020 18:14

About 16 for us. We always buy in bulk on all our shopping at the beginning of the month and then top up with fresh as we go.

NemophilistRebel · 15/03/2020 18:15

4 left.
None turned up today on our weekly food order despite ordering last week

Went to nearest city to shop and none anywhere

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 18:15

I’m about to open up travel suitcases etc and rummage. Have a feeling I may have toiletries/tissues/meds there.
Found some ha d gel and paracetamol at my work desk Friday and felt I’d win a small victory.

ktp100 · 15/03/2020 18:17

We have 5 packs of 9 and NO we're not panic buyers. We pop to Costco every few months & luckily went in Feb. My poor Nan & Grandad are in their 90's and still like to do their own weekly shop. Glad I can at least give them loo rolls. They can't be walking round multiple shops for essentials.

myidentitymycrisis · 15/03/2020 18:17

2 and I plan to use reusable cloths after they are gone.

Family of 3, bought a 12 pack last weekend. Normally get a 24 pack just purely cheaper to buy a bigger pack but had to get a 12 as that was all there was.

pinkdressinggown · 15/03/2020 18:18

1 - none of the shops have any near us!!! I'm also currently having a miscarriage at the moment and could really do with some...

happywifey · 15/03/2020 18:19

I just panic bought a 9 pack.

OJZJ · 15/03/2020 18:20

I hate every single one of you that can make a family of five last a month on 1 toilet roll!!!!
Due to bladder AND bowel issues I use at least one decent quality roll of paper (waitrose or andrex usually) myself a day!
I haven't bought any since the panic buy of shops (mainly because the shelves are empty but also I don't believe in greed buying)
I bought a lot at the end of last year when I had money off Waitrose vouchers.... I have counted up as panicked the other day and have about 44 rolls left which will do me and my son roughly a month hopefully-by then the places will either of restocked or we will all be dead!
I have fabric softener and dishwasher tablets to last 3 month's but will need washing powder and dettol spray which I usually use but is now like rocking horse poop and we have run out of hand gel which I cannot get anywhere and use when taking the dog out or for things my seven year old touches ie macdonalds screens (we only go once a fortnight after roller disco as a treat with his friend!)
Regarding food hoarding ..... I am coeliac with several other food allergies and found even the GF pasta aisle ransacked the other day Hmm so looks like I will finally be on my diet and using up the out of date bloody awful slimfast vitality(GLutenFree AND Dairy free) I bought a year ago in bulk determined to lose the excess weight....

OJZJ · 15/03/2020 18:23

Ps I know I said I don't greed buy I stocked up over a couple of months in Nov and Dec last year as I got 8 pounds off a 40 spend at Waitrose so bought a 16 pack every time I went shopping as I usually do as it lasts over a week then if I can't get to a shop fo4 a while we would have enough to tide over... it built up from there....
Which is good as did to health issues I am avoiding shops atm

ShabbyNat · 15/03/2020 18:24

I have 6 rolls on my bathroom windowsill waiting to be used, 1 on the holder in use & 1 in my bedroom that is always in there in use for when I have a snotty noseGrinGrin
I bought a 4 pack today like I always do, when Im down to 2/3 rolls on the windowsill, thats why I`ve got 6 up there nowShockShock
I refuse to panic buy, there is always a way around things/always enough food-may not be the food you want at any given time, but is always food there to be eatenSmileSmile

Vodkaskirts · 15/03/2020 18:24

I have a full pack of 24 purchased in my monthly feb shop
And have a opened pack with 18 in. Purchased in January monthly shop.
I will also purchase (fingers crossed) the same again in March monthly shop There are 2 living in my house. I have IBS
And will purchase some for dim
I do however feel I need another pack on top of that. Just in case
We were away for xmas/new year and I wanted to be in front of household staples as always skint in January
Always have a roll downstairs (allergies nose blowing) and 1 in bedroom
I have also in feb purchased 4 boxes of tissues in case we need them
And 2 packs of Kitchen roll for toilet /bathroom cleaning

Usernamerequired · 15/03/2020 18:25

We have 12, only because i happened to buy a 9 pack that was on offer last week. Trying to use as little as possible just incase, but not panicking

JulietTango · 15/03/2020 18:25

We have around 50. However I haven't actually bought any since the general election. I stocked up before Brexit but no one noticed then. Grin

utterlybutterly8 · 15/03/2020 18:26

About 18, but I’ve always bought two packs as part of my monthly shop so that’s normal for me!

MintySpud · 15/03/2020 18:27

9, as we just opened a new pack. The locals aren't morons so most shops have it still.

Ravenesque · 15/03/2020 18:27

I had three and a bit. I live alone and generally buy a pack of 9 or 12 which can last me from about six weeks to two months depending on bum circumstances. I had had five at the end of last week but then bum circumstances happened and I decided I should buy some more before the end of the month. Obviously, that didn't happen because the world has gone bloody mad.

Now, however, I have five and a bit because a friend of a friend brought around half a pack that she had bought to share with me. It was so kind of her and I hope that we see a lot more of this sort of thing in the coming months.

I'm currently self-isolating because I've had all the symptoms for just over a week now and while they won't test me my doctor wants me to remain away from people for at least another week. The toilet roll exchange was quite comical because of this. When there are eventually bog rolls back in supermarkets I'll buy my normal amount and no more.

Nazkauser40 · 15/03/2020 18:27

I also buy 3 packs of 18 from farm foods for £11 currently have 1 and half pack left family of 5 and lots of visitors who are under 10 so waste lots.
