AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

2, we get a 9 pack every month but none to be had when we shopped yesterday. For some reason we have 3x2 packs of kitchen roll as it is a regular monthly purchase but we mustn’t have been using it as quick, we will have to resort to using that if we run out.

Lincolnfield · 15/03/2020 17:49

About 12 - I bought a 16 pack of Andrex when they were on offer. Two bathrooms so currently 4 rolls in each and 4 in the store cupboard.

@BeAnythingBeKind - as a theatre nurse it’s worth just saying, forget the hand wash and just buy ordinary bars of soap. Not the cleansing bar things but proper soap like Pears for example. Goes much further and is more effective at sanitising hands.

Yambabe · 15/03/2020 17:51

At the moment about 23. I bulk-buy around 40 every 6-8 weeks from Makro (along with kitchen roll, and cleaning and laundry stuff) and my last shop there was about 3 weeks ago.

We use about 5 rolls a week usually so we're good for another month. I would normally do my next shop around the first week in April.

lozzybeast · 15/03/2020 17:52

12 for a family of 4, left over from a 16 pack. Refuse to panic buy what I don't need. And even if I wanted to I couldn't as apparently our local supermarket had sold out by 10.30 this morning!

WhoLettheCatOut · 15/03/2020 17:52

A pack of 24 & a pack of 9. Prob around what we usually would keep in but we ran down and then had 4 days of daily trips to aldi to try and find our usual pack after which we bought one lot as an emergency. The next day our usual paper came in so I bought one of those too. Won't need any for ages now though. Had they been in stock would have only bought couple of packs of my usual, I usually buy new when we get down to around 6 rolls which might sound a lot but we have 5 toilets so it really is the minimum.

loumoo · 15/03/2020 17:52

Family of 5 here and we have 7. Did the weekly shop at the start of the week and was watching folk load trolleys full. I (perhaps rather stupidly) thought I’d just buy a little 4 pack as I thought it was madness! May have to get creative in weeks to come if it sells out! Smile

Karenaki · 15/03/2020 17:53

63, just counted.
Family of 5.
We bought a couple 25 packs back in September, in advance of the original brexit deadline, stuck em in the attic and forgot about them. We’re on row 2 of our normal 34 pack, and so have 15 there, that makes 63!

I feel a bit bad but I haven’t actually bought any during the panic buying so not toooo bad!

NotForSale · 15/03/2020 17:56

Family of 8 and we have 3 left, maybe some tissues and a pack of baby wipes somewhere. The leaves in the garden are looking inviting!!

Lozzat85 · 15/03/2020 17:59
  1. Open hand wash at the kitchen and bathroom sink. Maybe half full each. 3 bars of dove as I have started using bar soap. I’m not a panic buyer at all! Work for the NHS. Don’t have the time Grin
DanceItOut · 15/03/2020 17:59

@Boredoftherain that is terrible that you can’t even find someone to give you one toilet roll! If my friend or neighbour knocked and asked for one I wouldn’t think twice about giving them one.

Annipoos · 15/03/2020 17:59

I usually like to have a spare 9 pack in and a 9 pack on the go

Zaza1414 · 15/03/2020 18:00

I've bought 1 pack of 18 today..I've been Ill so got down to my last one, I will be sharing that with my ex, his mum and partner and my neighbour! I could have done with more, but I felt guilty enough!!

ToftyAC · 15/03/2020 18:01

We have 13.5. A pack of 4 should last is a week interspersed with baby wipes. I won’t try to buy any more until we’re down to the last 4. If needs be I’ll buy a catering pack from the company we use at work. I’m more pissed off about the pasta situation. I love the stuff and can’t get any....

MrsMGE · 15/03/2020 18:02
  1. And only because there were NO other packs available in any shop we went to. Normally we'd have 9.
Boredoftherain · 15/03/2020 18:03

@DanceItOut I have amazing neighbours, we're all really close and we've all done the same thing--not bought into the panic and only bought what we needed. We're all in the same position! People seem to be really keen on donating to the elderly which is fantastic but everyone in between is in toilet paper limbo Grin next door has a lot of hand sanitiser as they are domiciliary care workers so we've got that, which is better than nothing.

Gilld69 · 15/03/2020 18:03

i shop in costco and buy my loo roll in packs of 40 i currently have 2 packs so im glad we did our shopping whrn we did as we went a week later and all stock had been depleted in less than an hour

CountFosco · 15/03/2020 18:05

We have 3 toilets and 3 children who are profligate with toilet paper so have a 9 pack in each as standard and usually buy 1 new 9 pack most weeks. I bought a couple of packs a month ago so we'd have enough for a short lockdown then realised there was still some in the house from our Brexit stash. So we have about 60 rolls but all bought before the panic buying started. Glad I have them now though, there was no toilet roll in the supermarket this morning. In non crisis times I'd have about 20-30 rolls in the house.

christmasathome · 15/03/2020 18:06

We have three toilets and each toilet has a holder that takes 3/4 rolls. I think we have at least two in each toilet then in the garage one pack of spares. Not sure what size dh bought but it was a big pack - maybe 16. Just what we would normally buy though. Once each toilet doesn’t have a full holder I like to top up with another pack.

drumandthebass · 15/03/2020 18:06

Only got 3 left and can't get them anywhere. I didn't want to get drawn into the panic buying, but am panicking that I didn't panic! Don't tell anyone, but Waitrose told me today they're getting a delivery on Monday night so they'll be on the shelves Tuesday morning Wink

Jeeperscreepers69 · 15/03/2020 18:06

58 toilet rolls at present. But ive always had a obscene strange thing with running out..... I buy 18 packs. But on offer 3 for 12quid so this is why not panic buying though. Couldnt be arsed.

Teenagekicks21 · 15/03/2020 18:07

8 and a box of tissue... And plenty of flannels Blush. 2 bottles of disinfectant type surface spray, 1 alcohol gel. 3 washing up liquid bought an extra to use for hand cleaning as no soap (bar or pump in Tesco) and a box of paracetamol.

janj2301 · 15/03/2020 18:07

We've run out at work and using tissues. At home I have 48. I have a regular delivery of Cheeky Panda bamboo loo roll that arrived Friday. That should see me through the over 70 lockdown

Bozlem80 · 15/03/2020 18:08

I’ve got 9 bog rolls in normally last a week for 5 of us, that’s only if I put one out at a time though anymore the kids waste them, I’m lucky that my DH sells bog roll so hopefully won’t go short!

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 18:10

Oh janj that’s a good reminder to take tissues everywhere not just for capturing coughs/sneezes !

CountFosco · 15/03/2020 18:11

I also have 4 packs of pasta and feel bad about that too.

4 packs of pasta is my usual weekly purchase of pasta. But 1x500g pack is only one meal for the family (admittedly giving us left overs for DH and my lunch).
