AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

We usually buy the big packs when we see them on offer somewhere. Right now we have three rolls in ‘active’ use, about four on standby, and a new pack of 12.

Villageidiots · 15/03/2020 17:30

Only 2 and there are none anywhere around here due to the selfish, stupid behaviour of others.

csigeek · 15/03/2020 17:30

I have an 18 pack and then I found a 9 pack on top of the wardrobe in my sons room. Non of these were bought in the last few weeks. I don’t know why I have so many right now tbh

Lamaitresse · 15/03/2020 17:31

We have around 30 I think. I buy them in packs of 18 each time I refill the drawer on the landing. Haven’t bought any extra at all.

  1. My 7 year old goes through a roll a day by herself (she has stomach issues) I'm not playing on panic buying anything though. I feel sorry for the babies with the milk/ nappies/ wipes saga. I have enough nappies as I buy then when on offer.
DanceItOut · 15/03/2020 17:32
  1. One of which is nearly gone. I normally buy a pack of 12-18 toilet rolls because there’s 4 of us so it just works out easier to get one larger packet than the extra plastic wrapping for 3/4 packs of 4. I haven’t actually brought any for a week. When my last pack was down to 2 rolls I brought a new pack of 12.

Oscarsdaddy · 15/03/2020 17:33

We have an unopened 9 pack we bought about three weeks ago

We have 4 loos and roll and a spare in each.

Must admit I did buy a 4 pack I saw in the Co Op last Monday as a top up but it wouldn’t even enter my mind to bulk buy like some morons have been

helpIhateclothesshopping · 15/03/2020 17:33

We have about 29 but I haven't bought any in well over a month. It was a mix up a while back thinking we were running out and buying a pack of 24, only to find we had one at the back of the airing cupboard, plus a few loose rolls.

mamigila · 15/03/2020 17:36

we have 9 rolls, because we are 4 people in the house. So I think it is very reasonable

Lurkeycakewoman · 15/03/2020 17:38

3 9 packs and 3 rolls
We are a family of 6 and I have breast cancer and am due to have surgery this week I didnt want my husband panicking about toilet roll next week while panicking about me

cakecakecheese · 15/03/2020 17:39

I've got 8 left of a 9 pack and also 2 four packs that my partner's uncle gave us as he'd got a whole load from Costco, but he's a bulk buyer anyway. I'd put the 4packs aside for my friend with 2 children who'd run out but her mother in law found some for her. I'll offer them to anyone I hear of who needs them.

JPduck · 15/03/2020 17:39

Was 3 but managed to get a 4 pack so now 7!

BellsaRinging · 15/03/2020 17:40

28 or so. Have a regular delivery from 'who gives a crap' and they only come in packs of 24!

onegiftedgal · 15/03/2020 17:40

We have 200 and that's nothing to do with panic buying or the current situation. I buy in bulk from a group buying site as it's easier to have them delivered plus much cheaper. I only need to buy them in January and August usually so we just happen to have them luckily.

WizePranker · 15/03/2020 17:42

Yeah, we’ve around 60 rolls as we have a subscription to Who Gives A Crap and they deliver 48 rolls at a time.

No, it’s a real company.

DoveOfPiss · 15/03/2020 17:43

I have 6 left, for 5 of us, one with IBS, between now and my next delivery of 48 from 'who gives a crap' on 7th April. I get a delivery every 16 weeks and it usually just about lasts us.
Hoping the schools don't close before then...

Boredoftherain · 15/03/2020 17:43

None. We have none. We ran out this morning and honestly don't know what to do. We have 2 kitchen rolls which we will have to use and a pack of wetwipes left over from a beach trip this summer. I can't get any anywhere and no one seems keen to give us a single roll

Scorpio99 · 15/03/2020 17:45

about 5 or 6. I am doing normal shopping.

Frazzled50 · 15/03/2020 17:46

I’ve got 2 left and have not been able to get any for days dispute trawling local shops. Small midweek shop arrived Wednesday with over 1/2 the usual items I buy unavailable inc toilet rolls and hand gel. Hubby has MS and he washes his hands and uses hand gel before he administers his injection and again before bed when he has to self catheterise. Working full time as a special needs assistant I’ve been going out during my 1/2 hour lunch and again after I finish in the afternoon in the hope to finding these non existent items. I don’t drive so forced to get shopping delivered or pay over the odds in corner shops nor do I earn enough to stock pile. I have an adult son with ibs so thinking it’s time to ration the remaining squares between us then barter with each other for extra 🤷‍♀️🤣

AllPointsNorth · 15/03/2020 17:47

Just don’t flush towels and wipes, or you’ll add a blocked toilet to your woes.

Scorpio99 · 15/03/2020 17:47

the cheap shops round here seem to have them in stock.

flyingspaghettimonster · 15/03/2020 17:47

I already had 2 packs of 18 at the end of February, and when I did a month's shop I bought a 40 pack. I usually try to keep at least 18 unopened in the house so this is more than normal, but not what I would consider panic buying. I havent bought any since start of March. Bulk buying is more normal over here anyhow, with stores tending to have larger multipacks that are cheaper. So my 40 roll pack was $12 on a discounted price.

Pritchyx · 15/03/2020 17:48

I have 5 rolls. A 4-pack and then a roll that hasn’t yet been used yet.

Youngest is in nappies (10mo) and eldest has finally learnt to not waste toilet roll (6yo) and then there is me. Small household and no men. It’s heaven.

RobynSH · 15/03/2020 17:49

45

Always have a couple of unopened packs in the pantry.

Then when the panic looked like it was starting but my local had loads I bought another 9 pack.

My husband laughed at me. I do feel sort of silly. But at least I don't need to take any now there's a shortage.

I also have 4 packs of pasta and feel bad about that too.
