AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

  1. I always buy 24 packs (it’s cheaper!) and we have 5 people who live in the house. I normally buy another big pack when we are down to 7 or 8 but I’m assuming I won’t be able to at the moment.
FthisS · 15/03/2020 07:54

We are down to 7

HeronLanyon · 15/03/2020 08:23

I am using less. Mindful use. Wish I had a bidet - have always wanted one. Hate them in hotels etc ie wouldn’t use one others had used. I think if I ever do have one I would need to work out a way for visitors NOT to use etc.

smartiecake · 15/03/2020 08:34

Slightly missing the point but I am totally shocked at how little others are using. How does one toilet roll last a family a whole week? Just how?
We are a family of 4 and easily use one loo roll a day. I know we use too much but if you all have regular bladder and bowel movements how does one loo roll last you a week?

*Can you even imagine the impact that all these families that may be forced to stay home this consuming both gas and electric will do

But other uses of power like restaurants, some businesses etc won't be operating so power is saved there. There's also measures in place to keep vital national infrastructure running so we're a long way from the power going off.*
I don't think it's the running out of power is the issue , it's the fact that many families can't afford to pay the extra electricity/ gas while self isolation plus the not being paid etc .

  1. I forgot I had an amazon order on subscribe and save this month. So they arrived just in time.
greeneyedlulu · 15/03/2020 13:41
  1. I ordered a pack of 24 on asda and it arrived. I was expecting it to not be. However I order this pack size when ever I do so I don't consider that as panic buying
WattsandAwl · 15/03/2020 13:44

About 50.
I have a box delivered every two months.

NotNegan · 15/03/2020 13:44
  1. I think.
Freeshavocado · 15/03/2020 13:52

32, like you OP we buy the big 40 packs from Costco (never been more thankful for my Costco membership!), I bought this pack two weeks ago just before everyone started going crazy and still had a couple left over from the old pack.
Bleach on the other hand I can't find anywhere! We've run out and I had to stick shower cleaner down the loo earlier Grin

Charlottejade89 · 15/03/2020 14:04

2 and half a roll. Family of 3, one in nappies, plus partners 3 older children on weekends. I usually buy a 4 pack with my weekly shop on mondays. How do people have room to store 30+ loo rolls in there house?? Confused

WeakandWobbly · 15/03/2020 14:06

Only 7....i forgot to panic buy and now the shops are empty! Confused

thecatsthecats · 15/03/2020 14:40

My prepping comes from a general irritation at mundane regular tasks.

I have to buy fresh meat and veg each 7-10 days or so, but with toiletries, I could never be bothered with the faff of always running out. So I always buy 6ish weeks supply of anything non-perishable. Toothpaste, soap, loo roll etc.

I bought two 24 packs of loo roll back in autumn, now I'm just buying minimal amounts to keep the in house supply on top.

Freeshavocado · 15/03/2020 14:47

@Charlottejade89 ours just get stored in the downstairs bathroom as there is free space, when we run out upstairs I take a 4 pack up and fill the toilet roll holder up there, the bag isn't that big Grin

Nixen · 15/03/2020 14:53
  1. As with a lot of others, we buy the big bulk packs usually anyway, as we have 2 bathrooms and I like to keep them stocked.

Luckily managed to get nappies too!

SmellMySmellbow · 15/03/2020 14:55
  1. We buy boxes every few months on a subscription from Who Gives a Crap as they donate 50% of profit and I prefer bamboo paper. I've been offering a roll to anyone who pops round 😅
Mustbetimeforachange · 15/03/2020 15:16

Who gives a crap is 100% recycled paper. No bamboo in sight.

JingsMahBucket · 15/03/2020 15:21

@Mustbetimeforachange they also have a premium option that’s made of bamboo.

S0nzDaughterz123 · 15/03/2020 15:24

Buy once a year in bulk, in January
Have approx 150

Winterlife · 15/03/2020 15:24

@Charlottejade89 we store in the garage. I’m in Canada, and here, a lot of homes have attached garages.

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 15/03/2020 15:27

13, three men and an ibs sufferer in this house

Mustbetimeforachange · 15/03/2020 15:30

That's interesting @JingsMahBucket, cos the paper stuff is rubbish! I'll have a look at it.

MDS1981 · 15/03/2020 17:27

We go through about 2 rolls a day here, 3 adults and a 4 year old but I do have IBS.
