AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

Six whole ones I think, from a pack of 12 that I bought a few weeks ago.

PeachesandPie · 14/03/2020 17:07

2! Been to 3 supermarkets so far and unable to get my hands on a single roll of any type. Not too worried as have reusable wipes from the toddler if needed, but would like to get some!

Honeyroar · 14/03/2020 17:12

About 15. I only shop once a month so buy one big pack. We use more than our share as my husband has a stoma.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 14/03/2020 17:14

38 I think. But I bulk buy anyway about every 2-3 months.

wolfmom · 14/03/2020 17:14

I could do with getting some soon but that's for a house of 3. 2 of us have IBS so we have times where we need a little more

LakieLady · 14/03/2020 17:16

15, plus half of one in use.

I bought a pack of 16 in Sainsburys several weeks ago because they were on special offer.

One roll lasts us around 5-6 days, so we should be ok for 3 months or so.

hiredandsqueak · 14/03/2020 17:19

I've got 24, I buy a pack of 18 when I see them on offer. I bought the last pack before the panic buying set in.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 14/03/2020 17:21

About 30 which is a little less than I normally have in.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 14/03/2020 17:22

Shoukd ace added that’s about a month’s worth for us.

MiniCooperLover · 14/03/2020 17:28

We went to Costco a couple of weeks ago and stocked up, just coincidentally so I'm quite glad we don't need to think about it.

Xenia · 14/03/2020 17:36

The original psoter has a lot more than I do and I have 5 lavatories at home all of which had about 3 in so 15 are normally out and usually I have a whole or partially opened one left in stock. So I have the usual 15 and in my cupboard had10 until yesterday when our Tesco obtained enormous numbers (not sure how they managed that!) and I picked up a pack of 9 on the way out

IPokeBadgers · 14/03/2020 17:51

Over 100....

An opened 12 pack that's been in the bathroom for the last three weeks and was bought as part of a regular grocery shop when we got down to the last 3-4 rolls.

And 96 rolls tucked away in the loft which were bought online many months ago when I had a complete and total panic about a hard Brexit 🥺

Pengweng · 14/03/2020 17:55

About 60 as we get 48 delivered every 4 months and still had some left. Clearly everyone is signing up for the subscription service though as even they have sold out now!

Nanamilly · 14/03/2020 18:03

I buy 2 packs of 9 monthly and there is a minimum of 6 of us at home at any given time.

It’s enough because where I live we use a bum gun that’s capable of removing artex from any ceiling in the world and once that’s done we wash with soap and water before using the bum gun again to rinse off.

Toilet tissue can play it’s part in the early part of the proceedings but mostly it’s used for patting your bits dry.

Isleepinahedgefund · 14/03/2020 18:04

About 75 for 2 of us. I hate buying toilet roll though so I always have a lot in so I don’t have to buy it so often. I thought we were down to our last few last week so stocked up as I usually would, then discovered another 25 rolls lurking at the back of the cupboard!

Today was the first day my local supermarket was out of toilet roll, but my mum said her local Waitrose has been out for ages. Tomatoes were on the ration in my local tho!

If people really do start running out I will share - this isn’t actually the apocalypse and we only have two bums to wipe 😆

sleepingpup · 14/03/2020 18:05

Dear God it's come to this I can't believe I am actually following a thread where people list how many loo rolls they have and then why.

LakieLady · 14/03/2020 18:40

I’m genuinely amazed that some people use so little loo roll!
There are 8 people in my house (2 babies so don’t use loo roll) and we can easily get through 9-12 rolls a week

I don't think that's excessive. Not counting the babies, that's 1.5-2 rolls per person, per week. I'm guessing that one of you doesn't work outside the home if you have 2 babies, so you'll use more than if you were out at work 5 days a week, and I think kids use more than adults. (My SIL tells me that their 18YO daughter uses a roll a day! I' d ration it if I were her mum. Grin)

We only use as little as we do because DP is out at work for nearly 9 hours Mon-Fri and I'm out at work 6.5 hours 3 days a week. We're off for 2 weeks now, and I bet our bog roll usage increases massively. In fact, I think I'll monitor it! A roll usually lasts 5-6 days.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/03/2020 18:55

50

FlamingoAndJohn · 14/03/2020 18:57

Just to let anyone short on loo roll know, you can get it from the milkman via Milk and More. They have stock.

Lovewinemorethanhusband · 14/03/2020 19:51

Ive got about 18 but thata because last week wheb i did my big shop as i usually do i got a pack of 18 as normal some moist toilet wipes along with my normal shop of soap, washing up liquid etc, i always have full cupboardsband freezer as I've always worried about not being able to feed us if something happened

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/03/2020 19:53

105! Blush

Mostly because, before the panic buying began...
a - I bought dd a pack of 9 to take back with her when she goes back to uni for her last term and
b - DH is a numpty! He always buys 2-4-1 on the packs of 24 from Makro (no longer on offer since the run on the loo rolls) and he thought last week that we were on our last few rolls - because he doesn't look - and bought another set of 2, only to find we hadn't yet started the other 2 packs we already have.

We will be giving some rolls to his and my Mum if they struggle to be able to buy any at some point.

paniquer · 14/03/2020 19:58

Groupon voucher every 4/6 months.

Therunecaster · 14/03/2020 20:12
  1. 6 of us and I get a groupon every 4 months.
Mlou32 · 14/03/2020 20:18

One on the toilet roll holder and a pack of 9. That's all lidl had left.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 14/03/2020 20:22

I have 2 rolls, I normally buy a pack of 4 when the last one goes on the holder. Nowhere has any so I hope I don’t run out to soon! I’m on a really tight budget, I couldn’t afford to bulk buy even if I wanted to.
