AIBU to ask how many toilet rolls you currently have in your house?!

After being accused of panic buying and enabling/encouraging panic buying on another thread I’m curious as to what’s the norm.
As toilet roll seems to have sold out everywhere or most places at least - do you have a big stock of them normally?

We currently have 18 left over from one of the big packs of 40 from Costco we bought a while ago - always do our big shopping there so also have wipes and antibac laundry in volume for the same reason!

We have only 2. We got back from holiday this week and didn't really shop before we went. I haven't actually gone to look for any in shops. I'm presuming there will be some somewhere. If not l suppose it's tissue s or wet wipes. Have plenty off those. My DP works in a supermarket do I'm not to worried they will be getting deliveries l suppose so we can get some next week before they go out for sale.

I thought most people bulk buy loo roll as everyone I know does. Why would Wilko stock a 32 pack if no one bought it

Exactly. I'm dumbfounded that people who are not hand-to-mouth don't stockpile basic goods like loo paper, not because of the zombie apocalypse, but because it makes more sense and is cheaper that way. I always have. I even have spare packets of knickers and three pairs of shoes in reserve and two storage containers full of comfy clothes. Basically, if something fits and is in my colours I buy at least two and pop the others in storage.

sqirrelfriends · 14/03/2020 08:34

3- one in each toilet, I've never been this low before.

DH has been sent out to get some

NinjaRule · 14/03/2020 08:35

48, in two unopened cushelle packets and about 9 rolls dotted between the 3 toilets in the house.

As with some PPs, we always buy a pack of 24 anyway and I had mentioned to DH we needed some. I picked up a bag and so did he, we were both unaware that the other had got some. This has happened before too.

HeronLanyon · 14/03/2020 08:35

I have 12 rolls dating from brexit boxes this time last year. They are in deep storage. I think they may be vintage soon. Other than that I’m just buying as normal week by week until or unless I need to use those.
Best result ever - nipped into work yesterday and found 3 mini hand gels in my desk drawers ! I was so excited I nearly did a Sistine Chapel.

24 at a guess
2 packs of 9 as it was a better offer
Plus what is in each bathroom

Youngatheart00 · 14/03/2020 08:37

22 I think. 2 as yet unopened packs of 9 and a few loose. 2 bathrooms. Enough to make me feel ok however when I was in Tesco yesterday the shelves were completely empty!

Greggers2017 · 14/03/2020 08:38

No wonder there's no toilet rolls when people have so many at their houses. We have 1 roll left and I've bought kitchen roll, all the twats have been in and stripped our
Shelves.
We've got a baby, 3 older children and my DP has ibs 🙈

BonnieSeptember · 14/03/2020 08:38

24, we do a "big" monthly shop to stock up on freezer stuff and non perishables, and then top up fresh stuff as needed. Couldn't get our normal big pack of TP in Aldi this shop so I got a big pack of 18 from a Quality Save during the week. Had 6 rolls left in the old pack. I don't know how people have the time to energy to go shopping every week 😬

ChristmasFluff · 14/03/2020 08:39

I have 4 and a half. I bought a 9-pack as normal in my last 'big' shop which was about 6 weeks ago. I live alone so I reckon I've got another month at least before I have to start using second-hand copies of 50 Shades of Gray.

ZooeyS · 14/03/2020 08:39

10 maybe? We have a ridiculous number of loos though

PanamaPattie · 14/03/2020 08:41

I bought a 4 pack last night at my local supermarket. Everything was in stock apart from hand gel.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 14/03/2020 08:41

22, there were no small packs left in the supermarket, only 24 roll packs. I'm sure they just put out the large ones because they know people will need to buy some.

DettolsYourFriend · 14/03/2020 08:42

About 50, but I buy through amazon subscription and my last delivery was way before this started.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 14/03/2020 08:42

Same as I would always have half way through a month, about 18 or so because we seek to go through a 9 roll packet every 10 days. God knows how. There are 5 of us but it still seems too much.

rosy71 · 14/03/2020 08:44
  1. I can't believe how many some people have. We buy weekly, or sometimes fortnightly. There were none available when I did my online shopping & none in Tesco last night. I will have to look in some smaller shops later.
RishiSunakFanClub · 14/03/2020 08:44

Last week I was down to one roll, ordered a 4 pack with my supermarket delivery and they delivered a 9 pack - will last me weeks.

TheGreatWave · 14/03/2020 08:45

A new pack of 24 plus another 3 or 4. I picked them up from Aldi which I never do as I usually get the Nicky 18 pack from Home Bargains, but I knew it was the stage we needed more so just picked them up as I was in.

Glad I did, HB haven't had anything at all in the three shops I have gone to in the past week or so. I am sure I overheard a staff member saying it was a supply issue and they hadn't had any in at all.

ignatiusjreilly · 14/03/2020 08:46

ignatius thanks for reading idea ! God knows we need all the Sistine chapels we can get right now, eh?

Merinocool · 14/03/2020 08:50

We have about 16, I always buy the big pack. We are a family of 4 with 1 of us having Crohn’s disease so I do have to buy it regularly.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 14/03/2020 08:52

I have 6, hoping to get some today, both Asda and Lidl have been completely out this week though.

Snuffkindle · 14/03/2020 08:55
  1. I have stock piled a pack of 16 for a lock down situation and the rest are in circulation.
