Clicky links don't seem to have worked.
Here is the previous post and they work on there

Hey I've been reading but not been able to post as was banned for a week (don't ask, don't want to get banned again down to the virus threads).

We still don't have cases where I am, I find it spectacularly hard to believe. Our local hospital rang to check DS was still attending his allergy test next week and the nurse I spoke to said she is fed up of all the panic as that won't help anyone. She said the hospital is business as usual.
Does anyone else think the government is hoping to prevent school closures until the Easter holidays?

Hazelnutlatteplease · 11/03/2020 19:46

Thank you for the new thread

Sassenach85 · 11/03/2020 19:48

Do we know when this 10,000 a day testing starts? Did they say?

ofwarren · 11/03/2020 19:48

Urgh, it's copy and pasted without paragraphs.
I've asked @mumsnet to fix it if possible.

Thanks for the new thread.

Lucky Parliament if they are allowed to WFH because not all of us have bosses who take this seriously and will even moot WFH.

I work from.home one day a week. I could work anywhere so 5 days would be no problem.

But my boss is beligerent and thinks this is a fuss over nothing. He continues to go to big conferences all over the UK and big sporting events.

alloutoffucks · 11/03/2020 19:55

Our senior managers thought it was all a fuss about nothing. But some of the younger staff unknown to me kicked up a fuss and we can now work from home. Ironically the ones who kicked up a fuss are young and healthy and will be fine. But it is a relief for me as I am at real risk.

EricaNernie · 11/03/2020 19:55

not really happy with anything trump has to say tbh,
i only really listen to PHE

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 11/03/2020 19:55

Sorry to be clear, my concern is for the people right on the cusp of needing intervention - and the opposite to the worried well who could potentially be clogging phonelines. Not the kind of people who ring 999, but those who avoid ringing it when really they should - who need to be told by 111 that they need an ambulance, otherwise they wait for it to pass on their own.

Can someone sum up govt announcement at 7 please as just got in and trying to catch up quick but the threads move so fast . Thank you

confusedandtired99 · 11/03/2020 19:57

To sum up parliament will remain open. That’s pretty much it

Whatusernamecanihave · 11/03/2020 19:57

In short wash your hands and ring 111 🤦🏻‍♀️

TwilightPeace · 11/03/2020 19:58

I work in a care home. I’ve been off since last Friday (work part-time). Back tomorrow, will be interested what will be said. I assist with feeding a lot of the residents, very close contact. Maybe they’ll ask me to wear gloves.

I can’t believe the schools haven’t been shut yet. We have a small window of opportunity here to slow down the spread.

Michelleoftheresistance · 11/03/2020 19:58

I'm still trying to watch this, but it's making me beyond angry. They'd have to hold a bloody series of meetings on how to rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Hancock's plan is that the wave goes over us. As Boris let slip on Good Morning Britain, as the WHO has been trying to argue with.

STATEMENT FROM CHRIS WHITTY
TWITTER

This announcement by WHO reflects the changing global situation. There is ongoing transmission in multiple countries, including the UK.

The UK has been planning for a pandemic. There will be challenges ahead and we need everyone to play a role. t.co/IeNbWSZzrB

It's a fingerprick test, can't we buy a crateful, via a 'health professional'? www.surescreen.com/products/covid-19-coronavirus-rapid-test-cassette

SansaSnark · 11/03/2020 20:00

@CrapTVAddict It was mostly about parliament and MPs to be honest. Nothing else new was announced. COBRA meeting tomorrow. Cross party talks. Emergency bill next week (maybe).

No decisions of note have been made.

confusedandtired99 · 11/03/2020 20:01

@raaaasss because they don’t want to know. That’s the only conclusion I can come to

HeIenaDove · 11/03/2020 20:01

No cases in my area yet There has been a case in a neighbouring town about 14 miles away.

Michelleoftheresistance · 11/03/2020 20:02

Crap they'll do bugger all but hold meetings and think, wash your hands and carry on as normal. Schools won't close. Large gatherings fine, definitely doesn't spread virus, ignore the WHO that people not symptomatic but in contact with others because they know better about it giving false responses than the WHO does. All science based (but not related to the WHO science or other countries science/strategies.)

Brexit mark 2 indeed.
