This has been circulating on Reddit regarding two rumoured cases at Kings College Hospital.

Glittercandle · 04/03/2020 17:50

Place marking as I’m finding this really informative.

Sassenach85 · 04/03/2020 17:51

@SansaSnark thanks for the info regarding a symptomatic people on previous thread. No way would I be sending my kid to that school where a pupil has tested positive.

What is the best source for updates apart from here of course?
Thanks for the new thread. I find chatting about it and following what's happening alleviates my anxiety. Being kept in the dark makes it worse.

Wow, if that staff briefing from kings college hospital is genuine (and it looks like it) that’s very bad news. So 2 inpatients on different wards sat around infecting others before it’s realised what was wrong with them.

I wonder how much this is being replicated in hospitals around the country.

It’s like Italy who have said they now realise a patient they had weeks ago who died of pneumonia was actually a coronavirus patient. But he’d been dead a while before they clicked.

Kings College Hospital very close to me. Thought SE London had been light so far.

Jenasaurus · 04/03/2020 17:55

thanks for thread number 12 :)

FourTeaFallOut · 04/03/2020 17:55

Have Italy declared yet?

onalongsabbatical · 04/03/2020 17:55

@Bercows not the only source but a good one - the Guardian does a livefeed every day, they stay on top of most of it. Here's today's -

onemouseplace · 04/03/2020 17:57

I wonder if Kings was one of the hospitals testing all their patients? Wouldn't surprise me - big London teaching hospital.

Thanks for another thread

Banana0pancakes · 04/03/2020 17:59

I've seen a thread on reddit too, someone cautious about their job but alluding to an undiagnosed inpatient at a london hospital.

SistemaAddict · 04/03/2020 17:59

@onalongsabbatical thank you. I lose track of what and where I've read things.

VivaLeBeaver · 04/03/2020 17:59

I think I read that all hospitals are now testing all ICU patients? Maybe some are now testing patients who aren’t on icu but have unexplained respiratory type symptoms. Would make sense.

Top headlineon Telegraph right now:

Coronavirus has mutated into more aggressive disease, say scientists

Coronavirus has mutated into two strains, one which appears to be far more aggressive, scientists have said, in a discovery which could hinder attempts to develop a vaccine.

Researchers at Peking University's School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, discovered the virus has evolved into two major lineages - dubbed ‘L’ and ‘S’ types.

The older ‘S-type’ appears to be milder and less infectious, while the ‘L-type’ which emerged later, spreads quickly and currently accounts for around 70 per cent of cases.

Genetic analysis of a man in the US who tested positive on January 21, also showed it is possible to be infected with both types.

I follow the guardian live feed too. It’s updated really regularly with global news.

Wehttam · 04/03/2020 18:00

I keep dipping into the tripadvisor forums. A good source to see how people are dealing with travel restrictions, quarantines etc. The Italy threads are awash with I’m going anyway posts. Hopefully countries will be more proactive in closing up access to the harder hit places to prevent mindless people from causing unnecessary spread.

The undoing of the world will be the selfish individual.

DressingGownofDoom · 04/03/2020 18:00

2 more cases in NI. Crap

Quartz2208 · 04/03/2020 18:01

Hospitals are the worse place to get these things
