Apoplectic because your child is going on the tube?!

EnidBlyton · 02/03/2020 19:03

I am no longer worried for myself, just my dm

SouthwarkRoad · 02/03/2020 19:03

I have to go into central London for a meeting tomorrow, and then for an evening work event. Dreading it tbh. I left getting hand sanitister too late so I only have the carex aloe vera stuff which I don't think is 60 per cent alcohol.

ofwarren · 02/03/2020 19:04

France confirms 61 new cases of coronavirus and 1 new death, raising total to 191 cases and 3 deaths t.co/eUoE2b20hL

pussycatinboots · 02/03/2020 19:06

Even if you don't send your kids on school trips, the other kids in the class will go - if they catch anything they'll spread it next day when your kids are back at school.

ChipotleBlessing · 02/03/2020 19:06

@FourTeaFallOut that is accurate and is from the WHO joint report. Obviously there are caveats around needing more research etc. But it seems possible that restricting the movements of children would be largely pointless.

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:06

Tue child to adult virus transmission

Ive not read this anywhere either. Ive not read that an adult has caught from a child...but it's children returning from italy ski trips isnt it?

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/03/2020 19:07

My DS also has an imminent residential theatre trip to London. Im hoping its called off but they're running out of time now. I don't think tomorrow's plans will include that sort of thing.

Havingkittens04 · 02/03/2020 19:08

southwarkroad the carex hand gel you have contains 70% alcohol x

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/03/2020 19:08

Carex aloe vera is 70% ethanol

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:09

Anyone know what time 'plan' is due out? If there is a scheduled time for announcement of plan eve?

tud41 · 02/03/2020 19:11

I think a big problem with this is the media report completely different things.

This first one is what the WHO have said today which would come across quite positive.

“We are in uncharted territory. We have never seen before a respiratory pathogen capable of community transmission which can be contained with the right measures. If this was influenza we would have expected to see widespread community transmission across the globe right now. Containment of Covid-19 is feasible.”

Then BBC somehow translate that to this.

"The World Health Organization called the virus "unique", saying they had never seen a virus that could transfer so easily between individuals"

Scaremongering at its finest!

FourTeaFallOut · 02/03/2020 19:11

I might have to stop calling my kids vectors.

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:13

The WHO statement contradicts the spread rate wuoted as being higher than flu??? FFS

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/03/2020 19:13

This is from the worldometers site

Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on the age group. The percentages shown below do not have to add up to 100%, as they do NOT represent share of deaths by age group. Rather, it represents, for a person in a given age group, the risk of dying if infected with COVID-19.

80+ years old - 14.8%
70-79 years old - 8.0%
60-69 years old - 3.6%
50-59 years old - 1.3%
40-49 years old - 0.4%
30-39 years old - 0.2%
20-29 years old - 0.2%
10-19 years old - 0.2%
0-9 years old - no fatalities

pussycatinboots · 02/03/2020 19:13

FourTea no need to be hasty Wink

Wakemeuuuup · 02/03/2020 19:14

So the dr in Mount Vernon cancer treatment centre has tested negative for it. Great relief as the people he's treating will have very low immunity

Plantpotpot · 02/03/2020 19:14

there is no evidence of a case of the virus being transmitted from child to adult.

Really? Does anyone have a link or source for this information?

Plantpotpot · 02/03/2020 19:14

Oops posted too early - was trying to reply - it’s in the WHO report

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:14

What great news though,

Containment of covid is feasible!!

mammon · 02/03/2020 19:15

From The Guardian.

The government has been advised to provide “resilience” training for teenagers so they can help support the authorities in civil contingencies like floods or the coronavirus outbreak, according to the Press Association.

A report by the Royal United Services Institute military think tank said the nation’s teens represented an “untapped” resource when it came to dealing with emergencies.

It called for 16- to 18-year-olds to be offered training during the school holidays in “crisis preparedness” and “emergency response”.

ofwarren · 02/03/2020 19:15

Washington state reports 4 new cases and 3 new deaths in King County t.co/eUoE2b20hL

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:17

Bad idea using teens in emergencies. They are not the most resilient of societys members.

They are at one of the most stressful times of their lives! Struggling with their changing identity

usernameishistory · 02/03/2020 19:18

Isnt the outbreak in Brighton evidence of containment?

This happened early on, and no more cases?

MargotB7 · 02/03/2020 19:18

Do any of you go to the gym? If so, are you thinking of not going because of the sharing of equipment?
