Doesn’t really look like anyone believes that Donald is going to come out of his stupid war with any kind of better deal.

From the BBC:

Iran's Fars news agency cited informed sources as saying that Trump's latest comments were a "mixture of truth and lies".
There was no provision to destroy nuclear materials in the memorandum of understanding, the agency reported.

Trump has announced that he will lift the US blockade of Iranian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. It is understood to be the first step towards an eventual deal to end the war.

He said on Friday that the American blockade “will now be lifted” as he met with advisers in the White House Situation Room to make a “final determination” on moving forward on an agreement to extend a ceasefire with Iran.

Trump confirmed the deal was in its final stages after The Telegraph reported that US and Iranian negotiators had reached a tentative agreement to extend a fragile ceasefire by 60 days and begin talks to curb Iran’s nuclear programme.

Final determination Confused

Any moment now......

I reckon Trump just wants this over and the only thing that is preventing him is - as some analysts have pointed out - he gets bothered if he is told Obama got a better deal.

“In a recent Atlantic article, Robert Kagan, a foreign policy fellow at the Brookings Institution, wrote that “Trump’s endgame is surrender”, adding that the president “no doubt hopes that he can slip away without Americans noticing the magnitude of this defeat”.
“The financial markets may stabilize if it is clear that oil will eventually start flowing again through a reopened strait, even if under the new Iran-controlled system,” Kagan wrote. “A major strategic setback for the United States need not affect Wall Street.”
Yet many of Trump’s hawkish Republican supporters have recognized the scale of the incipient retreat from previous objectives and warned of the dangers of a deal on Iran’s uranium enrichment capability that may end up resembling that signed in 2015 by Barack Obama – the joint comprehensive plan of action (JCPOA) that Trump later scrapped during his first presidency.
In the past week, anti-Iranian Republican senators such as Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Roger Wicker, chair of the Senate armed services committee, as well as Mike Pompeo, CIA director and secretary of state during Trump’s first administration, have all warned against an agreement which Trump last weekend said was “95% negotiated”.

Trump’s Endgame Is Surrender

He seems to hope to slip away without Americans noticing the magnitude of this defeat.

There are $200 million reasons why Trump can't stop after taking that amount as a donation from Miriam Adelson and others. He likely does want this over but his hands are tied.

Kagan isn't writing in good faith, his worry is about the fate of Israel if Trump makes a deal and withdraws American troops from the region. He is also attempting to make Trump feel like a loser if he withdraws.

Remember that Kagan was part of the infamous PNAC (Project for a New American Century) think tank that lobbied for all the Middle Eastern Wars that we've seen in the last 20 years.

Oman are unhappy with Trump's comments

The front page of Oman’s Al-Royah reads: “From the Omani People to President Trump: ‘The Sultanate of Oman is a Red Line.’”

BelleHathor · 31/05/2026 13:11

As well they should be, the Omani's are quiet, diplomatic people but Trump shouldn't mistake that for them being soft, their Military is actually quite formidable and Iran has apparently communicated that if America attacks Oman , Iran will intervene Militarily.

Has Trump finished his deliberation over the deal yet ?

Seems to be dragging on a bit.

I'm sure he'll let us know by tomorrow (shortly after the markets open and his friends and family make their bets aka cash in). 🫣😉

As Iran insists Lebanon is part of the ceasefire deal Israel makes incursions into the country more than ever before
They have now taken nearly 20% of the land

From Al Jazeera but it’s in many major news outlets

‘ Israeli forces have reached the outskirts of the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh and captured the strategic Beaufort Castle despite a ceasefire agreement in place since April, as analysts warn Israel is laying the groundwork for long-term control of territory inside Lebanon.

The advance marks Israel’s deepest incursion into Lebanon in more than a quarter of a century. Israeli forces now occupy about 2,000 square kilometres (770 square miles) of Lebanese territory – nearly one-fifth of the country.

Israel initially said its objective was to remove Hezbollah fighters from areas south of the Litani River closer to its border. But its forces are now operating well beyond that line, with the Israeli military issuing evacuation orders extending as far north as the Zahrani River (around 10km or 6 miles north of the Litani River), further expanding its military control.

Israeli troops have reached the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Choukine on the outskirts of Nabatieh – a Hezbollah stronghold – while Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli strikes on Deir ez-Zahrani at dawn on Sunday killed several people.

The advance towards the north comes as Israeli and Lebanese officials continue US-mediated talks aimed at reaching a permanent end to the conflict, while outlining plans to disarm Hezbollah, which has slammed the negotiations amid Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, a parallel tenuous ceasefire between Washington and Tehran has become increasingly tied to developments on the Lebanese front, with Iranian officials warning that an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon is a prerequisite for any meaningful progress in negotiations between the two countries to end the US-Israel war on Iran.’

This and Israel’s continuous attacks impede any form of peace deal. One could almost imagine Israel don’t want one at all

And the IDF has ordered more cities be evacuated.

I wonder if this is why Trump is so slow at announcing his decision ? He appears to have no control over Netanyahu.

Update this morning:

  • The US bombed Iranian radar and control drone sites in Iran in response to an American MQ-1 Predator drone being shot down by Tehran this weekend, the US military said today.
  • Fighting continues to escalate as Israel expands its ground invasion in Lebanon, with the US reportedly softening its push for a ceasefire between Jerusalem and Hezbollah. A US official said: “The US does not expect Israel to absorb ongoing attacks on its civilians by a terrorist organisation.”
  • Donald Trump asked for several amendments, related to uranium and the Strait of Hormuz, to an Iran peace deal his envoys reached with their Iranian counterparts during a Situation Room meeting on Friday, sources told Axios.

Tehran reportedly making changes to latest draft of MOU after Trump toughens US stance

Tehran is making amendments to a draft Memorandum of Understanding to end the war with the US, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reports, citing an unnamed source, after reports emerged that US President Donald Trump had sent a tougher MoU proposal back to Iran, and underlined the rift that the parties still need to close.

Appearing to acknowledge the new, tougher proposal that Iran received, Tasnim says that exchanges on the text “are ongoing, with both parties regularly proposing amendments.”

At the same time, Iran’s chief negotiator warns that the US is not to be trusted, saying Tehran will not agree to any deal with Washington unless it fully secures Iranian rights.

A responce from Iran

‘ The ceasefire already in place between Iran and the United States is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon, Iran’s top diplomat said on Monday after Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered attacks on the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut.
“Violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts. The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation,” foreign minister Abbas Araqchi wrote on X.’

chances of a ceasefire becoming more unlikely

‘ Iran’s chief negotiator has said the US are not complying with the ceasefire following US strikes strikes on Iran over the weekend.
“The naval blockade and escalation of war crimes in Lebanon by the genocidal Zionist regime are clear evidence of US noncompliance with the ceasefire,” Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X. “Every choice has a price, and the bill comes due. It will all fall into place.”
Iran responded to the US strikes by targeting Kuwait with drones and missiles.’

I don't really see how sticking a flag on a 900 year old ruined castle 9 miles inside another country is conducive to a peace deal.

I really struggle to believe anyone in the IDF or the Israeli government would have thought the optics of this were good.

And as I type this, I see it is being reported that Iran has cut communication with the US. Because of what Israel is doing.

Netanyahu also knows that this escalation in Lebanon has the potential to deviate talks going on between Iran and the US to reach a deal. It is in Netanyahu’s best interest to sabotage any deal.

Yup. It's totally clear that is what is going on.

Sticking flags on top of a Castle and then boasting about can only lead to one conclusion.

Yes I read a while ago he wasn’t interested in any peace deal
Its fairly obvious i suppose since he doesn’t know what it means anyway
His goal was always to steal land and eradicate his neighbours.
