Doesn’t really look like anyone believes that Donald is going to come out of his stupid war with any kind of better deal.

The US House of Representatives has passed a measure aiming to curb Donald Trump's war in Iran, NBC News has reported.

The US House of Representatives has passed a measure aiming to curb Donald Trump's war in Iran, NBC News has reported.

Yes. Although worth noting (as the BBC do) that the House resolution still needs approval from the Republican-controlled US Senate.

And that even if it were successful in the Senate, the measure is unlikely to fully curb military action against Iran.

JadeHare · 04/06/2026 06:31

The measure, known as a concurrent resolution, passed by the House Wednesday must be approved by both chambers, but would not go to the president to be signed.

Small reliefs.

It is just symbolic though. A strong worded letter. ?

Things are not looking good.

From CNN;

Lebanese militant group Hezbollah rejected the ceasefire agreement reached between the Lebanese government and Israel on Wednesday as a “roadmap to exterminate a segment of the Lebanese people and enslave the rest.”
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the “imaginary ceasefire” that requires the group to stop fighting and withdraw from southern Lebanon while allowing Israel to “continue its aggression” would amount to “a surrender, defeat and achieving the enemy’s goals.”
He called on the Lebanese government to halt direct negotiations with Israel, calling them a “farce and insult.”

Not even remotely surprised Jade
Whilst Israel remain in Lebanon and are allowed to continue bulldozering the country it’s not a ceasefire
Its an occupation

JadeHare · 04/06/2026 17:22

Yes. Another “yellow line”. And we all see how that’s working out in Gaza. From 53% to a push for 70%. Or a “buffer zone”?

Once they have south of the Litani river they’ll shoot anyone who comes near it
and create the next buffer up to the next river and on and on it goes
next stop turn right for Syria

As you say
It’s happening in Gaza. This is what Israel are doing

So, here we are.

From CNN;

Iran says it will seek to impose service fees for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for ensuring the vessels’ security, as opposed to transit tolls.
Iran “is not seeking to collect passage fees, transit duties, or transit rights payments,” the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said in an interview with the semi-official Iranian outlet Mehr on Thursday.
Instead, the country will seek compensation for services carried out alongside Oman, including navigation assistance, search and rescue, security and safety sercives, and environmental cleanup services in the event of pollution, the official said.
The strategic waterway “lies entirely within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman,” Gharibabadi added, saying those governments have sovereignty over the strait “under international law and the law of the sea.”
The deputy foreign minister said the arrangements being drafted will be consistent with international law, but acknowledged “they will not be 100% pleasing to some countries.”

It looks like another attempt to spin a "Win" by Trump, similar to his "I'll end the Ukraine war in 1 day" it will utterly fail as there is no way for this "peace deal to be implemented". As Trump can't control Netanyahu. the only way to advance a settlement with Iran is to detach Lebanon from the deal.

Military analysts have said Hezbollah are the most well trained and well armed non state actor in the World.

Judging by the response from actual Lebanese on social media, most Lebanese (especially in the South) would rather die than agree to any sort of "peace" with Israel who have been killing them since the 1940s, there will be a civil war.

Remember Nawaf Salam's grandfather sold land to the early Zionist movement in the 1930s, so the family is already seen as being traitors.

Yup. And UNCLOS allows for that. Article 26-2.

"Article 26

Charges which may be levied upon foreign ships 1. No charge may be levied upon foreign ships by reason only of their passage through the territorial sea.

2. Charges may be levied upon a foreign ship passing through the territorial sea as payment only for specific services rendered to the ship. These charges shall be levied without discrimination "

More fall out from this stupid war. I don’t know how Netanyahu and Trump sleep at night. From CNN;

Millions of people are struggling to meet basic food needs and, in some cases, being pushed into acute hunger due to the Iran war, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said today.
In March, WFP predicted that 45 million people could fall into acute food insecurity if the Middle East conflict continued to spike oil prices. Now, WFP says, that scenario is unfolding.
A new WFP report released today, which explores the impact of the crisis on some of the world’s most vulnerable countries, found that an additional 2.5 million people in Somalia, 1.3 million in Sri Lanka and 2.3 million in Afghanistan are “struggling to meet basic food needs and, in some cases, being pushed into acute hunger due to the crisis.”
Jean-Martin Bauer, director of WFP’s food security and nutrition analysis service, said early warnings only matter “if the world acts on them.”
“We warned that this crisis could push millions more people into hunger; now we are watching it happen in real time. In many cases, the poorest families around the world, far from the center of the crisis, are being hit the hardest,” Bauer said.
The devastating knock-on impacts of the war are projected to intensify over the coming months, even if the crisis in the Middle East deescalates, WFP said.

Yup. And wait for the fertilizer lag.

20% of the global fertilizer comes from the gulf. And the northern hemisphere was not in growing season when the way kicked off. Fertilizer prices rocketed just as planting began. And that cost will not really be seen till harvesting begins.

And the developing nations that saw farmers unable to pay for the higher cost fertilizer will have reduced crops.

Senior Iranian official Mohsen Rezaee: “If Trump takes the negotiations seriously, $24 billion is not much to America. If he wants to reach an agreement with Iran, this $24 billion is a test of trust that Iran wants to have with Trump.

“This is a test that America must pass, and the path will be open. This is our money, not America's money.”

Trump's view: President Trump told NBC News overnight that Iran hasn't yet agreed to a lasting peace deal because its leaders are "strong" and "proud". He also claimed to know almost exactly how many missiles Tehran has left. But he declined to give a precise figure but said Iran retained "percentage wise maybe 21-22%" of its original arsenal.

Trump's NBC 'meet the press' interview

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-iran-destroy-uranium-deal-rcna348509

President Donald Trump said the U.S. will work with Iran to retrieve and destroy its highly enriched uranium if he is able to cut a deal with Tehran to end the three-month-old war between the countries — or, in the absence of an agreement, that he will further degrade the Iranian military to the point that American forces can safely collect the material on their own.

Trump is bullshitting again the US markets had their biggest one day loss since April 2025 on Friday with the NASDAQ losing 4.2% (mostly Tech and AI stock) with further losses after close.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy2yq0dj58o

A lot of materials needed for semiconductors, pass through the Strait, Iran has the biggest economies by the balls, reverse sanctions.

Furthermore, looking likely there will be no deal, the IDF has just bombed Beirut which crosses an Iranian red line. Trump will not be allowed to make a deal without reigning in Netanyahu whom he is unable to control.

So the calculation now will be will Iran respond? and if so what will America do to protect Israel.

US stocks slump as fears over Big Tech shake Wall Street

The Nasdaq saw its biggest daily fall since early 2025.

And per CNN today (clipped below from feed), Iran are saying the US keeps changing and taking contradictory positions. And I don't see how that can be argued about. Trump changes mid sentence.

"Iran’s main problem in negotiating with the United States is Washington’s changing and contradictory positions, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
Speaking with CNN’s Senior International correspondent Frederik Pleitgen in Tehran Sunday, Baghaei said the exchange of messages continued through Pakistani mediators.
“The main problem of negotiating with this administration is that you have to face so many changing positions, moving the goal posts, different statements, contradictory remarks by different officials, so it makes the whole process very cumbersome,” Baghaei said.
There were quite a number of sticking points, he said, “but the main issue is that the Americans must understand that they have to recognize Iran’s rights,” including its right to peaceful nuclear enrichment under the international non-proliferation treaty.
“At the same time, when they are talking about our blocked assets they’re not going to give us any concession,” Baghaei said.
Iran is demanding that the US agree to unfreeze billions of dollars in frozen assets held in foreign banks."
