Conflict in the Middle East

Gaza Flotilla - genuine peace activists or Hamas puppets?

TicklishMauveSquid · 27/09/2025 22:36

It has been reported that these activists have rejected the Italian government and the Vatican's proposal to unload any aid they are carrying in Cyprus, to be transferred peacefully to Gaza.

They seem intent on sailing into a legal blockade in a warzone as a direct provocation to Israel who will be forced to take control of 50 boats and the people on them.

They have made lots of unproven allegations that Israel has attacked their boats which may well be to precursor violent resistance in 'self defence'.

They could be carrying anything, including weapons.

There is quite compelling evidence of Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood connections to this so called humanitarian flotilla, which could be considered perverse in the extreme seeing as Hamas has caused the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Hundreds of Israeli boat owners are being encouraged to counter protest in Navy approved zones (without interfering) as a presence 'a blue and white wall for the hostages'.

What do we think the outcome of this will be with Italian and Spanish Navy vessels in the mix?

This is quite a different situation than the ONE boat in the earlier failed attempt to breach the blockade this year where the 'activists' were peacefully appeased with sandwiches and sent on their way (after refusing to watch footage of Oct 7th).

Unmasking Extremism: The Hidden Networks Behind the “March to Gaza” Campaign

A campaign of so-called “peaceful solidarity” reveals disturbing ties to designated terrorist organizations.

What does ' they played pro Israel posters here into defending mass starvation with their lies' mean? Sorry, I'm not following.

Netanyahu and Co lied about Hamas stealing huge quantities of aid when it was actually the militia that they are in cahoots with who were systematically looting vast quantities as aid, as Israel knew because they were in cahoots with them. Pro Israel posters repeated that lie ad finitum when they were defending Israels decision to stop aid to Gaza back in March and again when they were defending the setting up of the GHF. Or maybe those posters knew it was a lie after all when they were repeating it over and over so they weren't played at all, they were spreading lies on purpose? Those are the two options. You can pick whichever you feel is true.

It seems some activists decided not to be drported back and chose to go to prison instead awaiting deportations.

A family member talking about her activist husband said:

"“I want to know what my government is doing to get him back home.
“Why are the Israelis not granting permission for the British Consulate to go and see him?
“We are British citizens and we need people from Westminster to act.
“They can kidnap our families, but they can’t kidnap truth. We have to keep going until Palestine is free.”
Legal aid workers out in Israel have been trying to help and say they have serious concerns.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office told STV News that they are supporting a number of British nationals who have been detained in Israel and say they are in touch with the local authorities". I mean they choose to stay then demand release.

I'm sure this person was out on the streets demanding Red Cross access to the hostages, oh yes I'm sure...
No wait they weren't were they, no they would actually have been on the streets calling for Israel NOT to do anything about their hostages.

So while various countries, including our own, should all be devoting their diplomatic energy to encouraging the peace process these self indulgent morons are demanding consular time & effort to deal with a situation entirely of their choosing and creating.

queenofarles · 06/10/2025 08:38

Lets call them all we like , self indulgent , Morons, ignorants etc… but that still not justifies the way they were treated in Prison, That’s not what democratic states do.

How do we know how they were treated? Apparently the beds are too hard. They dont have to be there, they chose to be there.

I'd rather diplomats spent time in more important things.

Let's hope the peace plan goes ahead and hamas don't look at these idiots and think they'd be better ignoring the plan since they have support to fight on.

Of course democracies detain people who break the law. In fact its a fundamental principle of liberal democracy.

Are these the people who claimed Israel struck their boat woth a drone attack and it turned out they were hit by a flare they sent up themselves and set fire to their own boat. Think it was the Tunisian government who had to clarify what had happened before their population started to believe that Israel had attacked. I think they are basically just idiots tbh.

There was something about a problem their Gaza reps had with LGBT support so some people quit the organisation.

I’m all for increased aid going to Gaza but this lot are utter muppets. i feel embarrassed for them.

Journalist Lorenzo D’Agostino said after his release in Istanbul that Thunberg was “wrapped in the Israeli flag and paraded like a trophy.”

. After border control, they forced us to strip down to our underwear. We went through two interrogations — only one with a lawyer present. They asked if we wanted to be deported. Then came the announcement: we were going to jail.

That’s when Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, arrived. He came to Ashdod to make sure we were treated as terrorists. He screamed it at us — that we were terrorists. Right in front of him, the police wanted to show their zeal: they blindfolded us and tightened plastic handcuffs around our wrists until they cut into the skin.

queenofarles · 06/10/2025 09:26

In the second cell, with me, was a former Turkish deputy foreign minister under Ahmet Davutoglu. His arm was broken and swollen; he bandaged it himself, denied any medical care. No medicine for anyone — not even an epileptic prisoner. We protested until consular assistance arrived. The Italian consul asked if we had been abused and said that if we signed the deportation papers, we’d be sent home the next day.

Many agreed to sign, but I don’t know what happened to those who didn’t — fifteen Italians remain imprisoned. I signed: it was a document waiving trial and agreeing to deportation within 72 hours. No admission of guilt.

They held new interrogations. A judge asked questions without a lawyer present. We requested one — they said it wasn’t necessary, “just a chat.” We stayed silent. I only said I was a journalist doing my job and wouldn’t answer further without legal or consular support. They asked why I wanted to go to Gaza, if I didn’t know there was a blockade. Others were asked more “political” questions — about the Muslim Brotherhood.

That night the guards were even more violent. The consul had just left, having gathered more deportation signatures, when special forces burst in. They stormed the cells, pointed rifles at us with laser sights, and called roll. In some cells, they unleashed dogs. In one, they found the word “Palestine” spelled out using scraps of pepper and water. To erase it, they poured bleach on the floor — prisoners slept on mattresses soaked with it.

That night, as punishment, they overcrowded the cells: from ten people to fifteen, leaving no space to lie down. We turned the mattresses sideways so we could all rest our heads. In my cell were Maso Notarianni and a Lombardy Democratic Party councilor, Paolo Romano.

I had the feeling I was in a truly barbaric place, and hoped this barbarity would soon end.

Yesterday morning, very early, they woke us up and loaded us onto the same armored vehicle. We thought we were going to the airport but peered through slits, fearing we might be taken to another detention center.

The trip lasted three hours, unbearably hot. We asked for water — they said we were “almost there.” At Eilat airport, they put us on a plane to Istanbul. There, we were greeted with cheers — Erdogan-style propaganda. A parliamentarian from his party handed out new clothes, shoes, and kefiyehs. That evening we boarded the final flight to Rome."

Lofty sentiments, which I agree with in general; but if you are blind to the rise of radical Islam and the threat it poses to Israel... and more broadly to the Jewish people, including here in the UK... then I'm not sure what it will take to get you to see the dangers here

You do know that radical Islam is acknowledged as the greatest terror threat to Europe? Not just to Israel?

Hush now, they don’t want to know or admit that.

They're disaster tourists getting the disaster tourist experience. Reminds me of the young lads who post smiling selfies with the Taliban, they're not so bad, unless you're a woman, or you piss them off, or you're a woman and you piss them off.
We wrap ourselves in our 'western' rights and freedoms, pushing the boundaries till they break and it could go either way whether they're more or less liberal when they come back depending on the government of the day. I think we know how most middle eastern governments would respond, we saw a snapshot with the protesters in Egypt.

It is barbaric. If this is how they treat Europeans, we can only imagine how they treat the Palestinians who have no voice.

That’s another discussion in itself , is this normal towards Palestinians ? But barbaric to Europeans?
Will Israelis be content with the exact same treatment in other countries ?
after all they did it to Greta and co , and they <israelis> thought nothing of it .

I think that it would be nigh on impossible to find so many stupid Israelis who would try and centre themselves in a war that their vanity could not change course.
What with Israel having defended herself in five wars that she did not start in such a short amount of time.
The Israelis KNOW that war is not something to play with and throwing rocks and hiding hands like these "activists"( who pretend that they want to be treated kindly by Israel and cry foul that they got what they wanted so that they can continue hating on Israel) is trifling in the grand scheme of things.

These activists so badly want to be oppressed, whilst minimising the inconvenience of Israel being on the defence and why.

An interesting pathology that somebody nicer than me can unpick, using nice language.

October 7th was barbaric but it didn’t start there - how about this for barbaric - the peaceful village of Tantura that took in jewish refugees during World War 2 only to be massacred by Zionist soldiers in 1948. Raped, mutilated, incinerated by flame throwers and buried in a mass grave.

Some interviews with Zionist soldiers who took part in the massacre
