To my amazement, last night I discovered that some posters on MN think that "radical Islam" means simply "Muslim" 😬

I wonder if this explains why so many are unconcerned about who might be pulling the strings behind the "peace" rallies that were first organised on 7 October? Do they know what radical Islam is, how powerful it is, that it is widely acknowledged as the greatest threat to UK national security, that its intentions are clearly stated, that it is 10000000% different than simply observing Muslim faith?

Palestine Action are planning a rally in central London on Saturday and hope to overwhelm the police presence. Is anyone concerned about this? I'm worried that the seeds of civil unrest are being sown, without it being entirely clear who is sowing them.

The police can be easily overwhelmed. I was in London for the Poll Tax riots and saw it first hand.

Two Tier Kier needs to go on record and say mandatory prison sentence for the terrorist supporters who turn up (and get caught).

The police will have cameras and facial recognition, and all the recording from the tube stations etc.

It’s very, very concerning that the Islamists have a hold.

HellsBalls · 06/08/2025 09:46

When I go to London, I’m never concerned about becoming a victim of Jewish terrorism.

Echobelly · 06/08/2025 09:48

Or maybe people don't like a group that has never threatened anyone being proscribed as a 'terrorist group'? Maybe people don't like the ramifications that has for free speech?

I'm Jewish, BTW, so not a 'Muslim Extremist'.

MissyB1 · 06/08/2025 09:54

I'm far more concerned about the thugs that turn up outside hotels where they think asylum seekers might be staying. The Yaxley Lennon supporters, they scare me,I am not scared by peaceful people holding placards saying they are against genocide.

I suspect they did so on the basis of intelligence about some of the key players...

You're not concerned at terrorists, who seek to immobilise UK military aircraft?

Dangermoo · 06/08/2025 10:00

@Beachtastic this would explain accusations of Islamophobia, when discussing Islamic fundamentalists.

When they fucked with UK military, they found out.

Martymcfly24 · 06/08/2025 10:02

Is that Stop Oil group a proscribed terrorist group? They seem to employ similar techniques.

Their members bludgeoned police officers with a sledgehammer.

But they are unlikely to be controlled by bad actors in the Middle East. Especially given the name 🤣

Well, quite! It was a real eye-opener. Some people literally seem unaware of what radical Islam is, and why it matters, especially now.

It's astonishing.

I normally find their mantra is cloned. Free Palestine, stop the genocide. It's worrying how Hamas' plan has worked. It goes to show how easily their methods can seep through to the west.

Bad actors???
I don't understand what you mean by this.

But surely if they cause more disruption and public order offences they should also have been proscribed?
Isn't that why Palestine Action has been made one

The fact that you don't understand what I mean by this is precisely why I started this thread.

I imagine they're proscribed under derogations for national security and/or social cohesion in hra1998, but I'm not privy to these matters.

There'll be some freedom of information/ open government guff available for people who are no doubt exercising a bit of law fare.

Obeseandashamed · 06/08/2025 10:31

I think part of the issue is a lot of people genuinely believe being muslim is being radical. Just stop oil have done similar things in the past but aren’t deemed to be a terror organisation.

No, I think some people just have no idea what radical Islam is, or how Just Stop Oil might in any way be less of a threat to national security than an organisation with ties to the Middle East.

When they fucked with UK military, they found out.

Could have been worse, in some places they take national security very seriously and use live ammo.

In most of the UK we're a bit lulled by our liberalism.

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 10:40

I agree OP. It amazes me how few people remark on the fact that so many demonstrators all have exactly the same tents (the college campus protests for example) and carry the same placards. There seems to be very little curiosity as to who is funding this and more importantly, why.

Yeah I read it. And all it showed me was a quote by the organisers about huge numbers showing up so that the police can't arrest them all.
And the fact that there is going to be a high Court challenge on the legitimacy of the ban.

Who do you think is funding it? (Can't imagine the tents and A3 card cost that much?)

Sorry I just realized you said they all have the same tent .. Aldi Special Buy???
