Palestine Action demo 9 August

To my amazement, last night I discovered that some posters on MN think that "radical Islam" means simply "Muslim" 😬

I wonder if this explains why so many are unconcerned about who might be pulling the strings behind the "peace" rallies that were first organised on 7 October? Do they know what radical Islam is, how powerful it is, that it is widely acknowledged as the greatest threat to UK national security, that its intentions are clearly stated, that it is 10000000% different than simply observing Muslim faith?

Palestine Action are planning a rally in central London on Saturday and hope to overwhelm the police presence. Is anyone concerned about this? I'm worried that the seeds of civil unrest are being sown, without it being entirely clear who is sowing them.

Nasty attack = they broke a window and spray painted on the building linked to arms sales to Israel

I keep repeating myself here, but what about the attack on police officers with sledge hammers?

Does that make them a terrorist group?

noblegiraffe · 06/08/2025 17:02

Bunion8 · 06/08/2025 16:40

Does that make them a terrorist group?

That's not my call to make.

However it does make me think that the people who have decided to turn out in support of them are absolute fuckwits.

What should they put on their banners?
MORE ATTACKING POLICE WITH SLEDGE HAMMERS
MORE ATTACKS ON JEWISH BUSINESSES WITH NO CONNECTION TO ISRAEL
MORE ATTACKS ON OUR NATIONAL SECURITY
MORE COSTING THE TAXPAYERS MILLIONS OF POUNDS

That's the important work that they are desperate for Palestine Action to be able to continue doing?

Dangermoo · 06/08/2025 17:13

Luckily, the ban will never be lifted. I'm out at the moment, but I will be interested go see the list of signatories, so I can delve into their background.

Bunion8 · 06/08/2025 16:40

Does that make them a terrorist group?

Does that qualify as a nasty attack (ever lifted a sledge hammer).

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 17:33

@Bunion8 apologies if I’ve misinterpreted your post but are you really minimising an attack on a business involving smashed windows and red spray paint that was carried out simply because it was Jewish owned? Do you think this way about all racially aggravated crimes?

Bunion8 · 06/08/2025 17:44

To be honest I’m really here to correct mis information. At the moment there seems to be a lot of alarm (understandably) ) and it seems to be fuelled by propoganda and acusations hurled left, right and centre on many of the discussions here.
I believe we should stick to the facts in discussions and the only viewpoint I’m avocating is the right of free speech and freedom to protest

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 17:47

@Bunion8 your statement that the attack in North London was linked to a business involved with arms sales to Israel is misinformation.

I love Naomi Klein.

Dangermoo · 06/08/2025 18:26

I don't understand why posters keep saying that Jewish people have joined protests and now spoken out against this ban. Where are the Palestian advocates doing the same? Where are those virtue signalling celebs, aside from that loathsome Miriam Margoyles and even worse Susan Sarandon? Where are those representing the moderate Muslims?

Dangermoo · 06/08/2025 18:54

Don't concern yourself @Stripes56 a quick google tells me those people are making money - no surprise in education - for denigrating Israel. My original question was why is it only Jewish people are expected to denounce this conflict. This includes posters, who say they are Jewish and then go on to criticise Israel. Where are Muslims doing this, against Hamas and its hold on hostages?

They are advocating and end to the PAG ban. That doesn't surprise me. It still doesn't address my point - why is it only Jews, who are pressurised into conceding Israel is doing wrong? I've yet to see a poster, declare they are Muslim and criticise Hamas. I'm not talking about at the beginning, I'm talking about, for instance, on the starvation front.

If you can’t describe it then you can’t understand it.

I've been driving all day. If you can't be bothered to read a link to clear information from a valid source, that's up to you.

Just look at that list.
None of them have been on Celebrity Big Brother, none of them have played for England, none of them have been in a soap or done Countdown and I can't find any of them on spotify.

They're all just nobodies
and most of them are still at college.

It’s not particularly surprising that those who study the field would sign their name to this.

Going through them - the second signatory immediately caught my eye:

Anne Alexander Senior research associate, Cambridge Digital Humanities, University of Cambridge

She studies media activism in the Middle East - has researched with reference to Egypt. She sounds like she would understand about activism and politics of this.

Surprised that MN is posting approvingly about anything Judith Butler has put her name to.

All the usual suspects I see.
