Palestine Action demo 9 August

To my amazement, last night I discovered that some posters on MN think that "radical Islam" means simply "Muslim" 😬

I wonder if this explains why so many are unconcerned about who might be pulling the strings behind the "peace" rallies that were first organised on 7 October? Do they know what radical Islam is, how powerful it is, that it is widely acknowledged as the greatest threat to UK national security, that its intentions are clearly stated, that it is 10000000% different than simply observing Muslim faith?

Palestine Action are planning a rally in central London on Saturday and hope to overwhelm the police presence. Is anyone concerned about this? I'm worried that the seeds of civil unrest are being sown, without it being entirely clear who is sowing them.

But they are unlikely to be controlled by bad actors in the Middle East. Especially given the name 🤣

The action on Saturday is by Defend our Juries and is about the right to protest.
There are supposed to be 500 people silently holding signs.
Is this to be condemned in Britain today?
Should this be an arrestable offence

youreactinglikeafunmum · 06/08/2025 14:41

I will be watching along on tiktok live as I have my dd who is only 6

It would be too crowded for her, although I wholeheartedly support the protesters and pray for peace for the innocent Palestinians 💛

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 14:33

@Bunion8 that view is very much out of step with the majority of the British people who do not see attacks such as the one on Brize Norton as simply “economic damage” nor as a legitimate protest.

Even Just Stop Oil has belatedly recognised how counter productive their protests have been. It’s time Palestine Action read the room.

I suspect that they have read the room but that some people in the room are a wee bit too trusting that everyone is as well intentioned as they are.
Lawfare is a bit less disruptive to innocent bystanders and they seem to be pursuing a court case, they're surprisingly well funded.

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 14:54

@Bunion8 if they are holding signs expressing support for a proscribed Terrorist organisation then yes, they should be arrested. That is the law after all.

Palestine Action group has been responsible for some pretty nasty attacks, including an attack on a Jewish owned business in North London. They claimed it was because the business had links to Elbit but this is simply not true, it was just Jewish owned.

Thelmaandloulou · 06/08/2025 15:01

I think people on this thread should read the room. Everyone should be against the genocidal state of Israel for what they are doing to innocent Palestinian children. Starving them to death!

Bunion8 · 06/08/2025 15:02

i think there’s been a mix up here.

On Saturday there are several protests.
1 by Defend our Juries which is about the legal right to Protest for which 500 people are expected this will claim support for Palestine action in order to challenge the legal case which proscribed them as being a terrorist group.
1 large March in support of Palestine of which there have been many
1 anti immigration protest.

I’m not sure which you think is out of step with the majority of British people but here is a letter signed by 500 Jewish members of leading professions (including human rights lawyers) who state that the proscription of Palestine Action is unlawful

grizzlyoldbear · 06/08/2025 15:06

I'm not bothered by a few peaceful people holding placards saying they are against genocide, no.

Bunion8 · 06/08/2025 15:07

HellsBalls · 06/08/2025 09:45

The police can be easily overwhelmed. I was in London for the Poll Tax riots and saw it first hand.

Two Tier Kier needs to go on record and say mandatory prison sentence for the terrorist supporters who turn up (and get caught).

The police will have cameras and facial recognition, and all the recording from the tube stations etc.

It’s very, very concerning that the Islamists have a hold.

Edited

If Palestine Action wins its appeal against being a terrorist group, that will make any arrests unlawful.
The police will then be subject to compensation claims from all those arrested.
The police have a very difficult task facing them, so it’s not quite as simple as just “bang them up”

I will say what I want thanks. Can't believe people are so bothered over a peaceful protest whilst Israel are continuing to murder and massacre Palestinians.

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 15:16

@Bunion8 what is out of step with the majority of the British Public is the view that breaking into a UK Airforce Base and deliberately causing millions of pounds of damage to Aircraft with the specific aim of damaging the UK’s military capabilities and leaving taxpayers to pick up the bill is a legitimate protest.

There is no massacre, and with Hamas infiltrating the aid queues people getting shot is very, very likely to be a legitimate military response to a threat.

That's just shit and not even MSM believes it. Even Israeli media casts doubts on the IDF version of events which is saying something.

Thelmaandloulou · 06/08/2025 15:23

They kill and kill and kill and kill. Yet some will still try to defend the indefensible. Atleast some Israeli voices are now finally accepting that their government and the IDF are carrying out a genocide.

You don't like to hear the truth?

Martymcfly24 · 06/08/2025 15:49

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 11:23

@Martymcfly24 well ok, you’ve just stated that you’re entirely indifferent to the probability that protests in western countries are being coordinated and funded by offshore interests. I wonder whether you’d feel the same if it was a “far right” movement?

Well the US government policies are being coordinated by foreign interests so I don't think a few water bottles are the issue.

I'm not indifferent to anything I just think it is much easier for posters to use threats of Sharia Law in the UK than not see the reason for the multiplication of "virtue signalling useful idiots"

Anyway thankfully where I am protests are not an issue and I will be enjoying the peaceful local one on Saturday afternoon.

StarlitPurple25 · 06/08/2025 15:52

This is a protest by Defend Our Juries, not Palestine Action.

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 16:16

@StarlitPurple25 so there’s no plan to hold up placards in support of Palestine Action?

Stripes56 · 06/08/2025 16:26

@Martymcfly24 Palestine Action have won the right at the High Court to have it’s proscription as a terrorist organisation undergo a review:

“Mr Justice Chamberlain granted permission on two grounds. First, that proscription of Palestine Action is a disproportionate interference with Article 10 (freedom of expression) and Article 11 (freedom of assembly) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Claimant raised important points about the significant chilling effect on free speech that would result from the order, particularly during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Second, permission was granted on the ground that the Home Secretary should have consulted with Palestine Action before making her decision to proscribe.”

What evidence there is about its funding suggests multiple small amounts (average of £35 for its legal challenge) through its website or crowdfunding:

The JTAC report, issued on 7 March 2025, simply notes that Palestine Action “is primarily funded by donations, which can be made directly through their website or via crowdfunding. Other forms of revenue include the sale of merchandise”.

Stripes56 · 06/08/2025 16:30

I can understand real concerns about criminal damage to private property. However- the review of government’s decision in November is important and we should all support right to legally protest.

StarlitPurple25 · 06/08/2025 16:31

AzurePanda · 06/08/2025 16:16

@StarlitPurple25 so there’s no plan to hold up placards in support of Palestine Action?

I think the plan is to hold up placards stating that Palestine Action should not be proscribed as a terrorist group, but I don’t know the exact wording as I’m not involved in the protest.

Michael Rosen is one of hundreds of British Jewish people who have written to the government objecting to the proscription, so ideologically, anyone who disagrees with him should be boycotting his books and demanding that We’re Going On a Bear Hunt should not be allowed in schools. That’s how ludicrous this is becoming.

Nasty attack = they broke a window and spray painted on the building linked to arms sales to Israel
