The Israeli army are using aid centres as target practice.

The Israeli government is proposing building a 'refugee' centre in Rafah with an extra special feature - no one is allowed to leave.

Hotel California?

Killing of young siblings at Gaza water point shows seeking life’s essentials now a deadly peril

I just saw a video of Israeli settlers smashing the window of a car and setting it on fire, there were 3 children in the car. This is the type of behaviour that these real estate sales, hosted and supported by a British charity(Edgware United Synagogue) and British citizens, are profiting from.

Shame on those who buy into This

Absolutely

Seems the narrative in the media is working.

However
https://news.sky.com/story/homes-in-illegal-israeli-settlements-promoted-at-london-property-show-that-sparked-protests-13554407

Homes in illegal settlements were being promoted at this event (some with pools...)
Shame on the British government allowing it to go ahead and the police for supporting it to happen.

Thanks Marty

"Protesting at a synagogue based on false pretences seems to be little more than an excuse to harass and intimidate members of the Jewish community.”
(Board of Deputies of British Jews)

I wonder if given this proof the Board of Deputies of British Jews will be condemning the synagogue for allowing the advertising of homes on stolen land and apologising to the people it accused of using false pretences to harass and intimidate members of the Jewish community and will this apology make the press?

One would hope they would .

Unless they knew really what was happening and were gaslighting us.

Excellent point there @Stirabout . Very hard to deny this picture. This settlement is considered illegal under the Geneva Convention.

Jeanine Hourani, a representative of the Palestinian Youth Movement, said: “Over the last week, we have mobilised every segment of British society to get this criminal event cancelled.

Who are the PYM to talk about criminal events?

https://peoplesforum.org/blog_post/statement-on-times-square-palestine-protest-held-on-october-8-2023/

I dn't agree with the selling of the land.

I also think that the Palestinian Youth group that supported the rape, torture, murder and kidnap on October 7th is awful.

This was them, the day after October 7th. Appalling. For those at the front, sides and back RAPE IS NEVER RESISTANCE, THE TORTURE AND MURDER OF INNOCENTS IS NEVER RESISTANCE, KIDNAPPING OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN IS NOT RESISTANCE!

The support of these groups supporting terrorists is why many people avoid this subject.

"Statement on Times Square Palestine Protest Held on October 8, 2023
On Sunday, October 8th, thousands of New Yorkers gathered in Times Square to stand in solidarity with Palestine. The rally took place a day after Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza initiated an unprecedented liberation struggle, the “Al-Aqsa Flood,” in response to accelerating attacks on Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank, and in defiance of Israel’s efforts to ghettoize, besiege, starve, and suffocate the people of Gaza into total submission. As the organizers of this protest, we called on our communities in New York to rally behind a simple message: We stand with the Palestinian people. We defend their fundamental right to resist an illegal occupation, break out of their concentration camp, and defy the cruelty of the sixteen-year Zionist blockade.
These events not only shattered the myth of Israeli military invulnerability, they also demonstrated that the status quo—the promulgation of colonial settlements, the arming of pogromist mobs, the imprisonment and criminalization of Palestinians without charge or trial, the desecration of holy sites, and the daily humiliations of military rule and siege—is fundamentally untenable. The obscenity of the occupation will always be met with resistance.
The challenge now, for all people of conscience, is to meet the current moment with moral clarity and principle. The only conceivable way to deliver justice is to confront the true source of violence: the colonial project of Zionism that has laid itself atop the body of Palestine, sowing seeds of genocidal dehumanization that continue to bear the bitterest fruits.
With the passage of time, the righteousness of historic liberation struggles comes to be seen as obvious, inevitable, and undeniable. But as students of history, we understand how decolonization movements that are today celebrated as heroic—from South Africa to Algeria to Vietnam—were once denounced as unconscionable, extremist, and senseless at the time they unfolded. We can understand this week’s events only by situating them in the context of the ongoing, global struggle for a world liberated from exploitation and oppression.
We affirm our right to gather, rally, and protest in defense of Palestine. This is as much a moral right as it is a legal one. Efforts to smear and defame supporters of Palestinian liberation will enter the ledgers of history as shameful, but ultimately surmountable, roadblocks on the path towards true and lasting liberation.
For Palestinians in the diaspora, and for all those who stand on the side of the oppressed, demonstrating our support for the people of Palestine is not a whim but a duty. As Palestinians in Gaza shoulder the heaviest burden—and pay the dearest price—for tending to the flame of our collective liberation, we mobilize in the belly of the beast because we understand that we have a unique role to play in combating material support for Zionism, and weakening the handmaiden of U.S. global imperialism.
Sunday’s rally, alongside similar protests across the world, are expressions of an international spirit of solidarity that unites us across our differences. As politicians, government officials, and media outlets ramp up efforts to manufacture consent for genocide against Gaza, we take to the streets to show the people of Palestine that they are never alone.
The whole world is watching, and waiting, for daylight to break on a free Palestine.

Signed,
Palestinian Youth Movement"

Are you 'bored' of posters who show that groups such as The Palestine Youth Movement supported October 7th? How awful that these things bore you. I realise that this thread is just to post about how awful Israel is. It's an echo chamber doing that, but it never addresses the elephant in the room. October 7th and support for the action of terrorists or 'resistance' as some posters might call it. The elephant in the room, the terrorists and their supporters really aren't helping in Palestine freedoms. As long as the terrorists run the place and have support the poor innocents of Gaza will never be free to rebuild and prosper.

This isn’t an echo chamber it’s a place to report what Israel is doing

So it can’t be denied by Israel or pro Israelis now or in the future
So the reality can’t be twisted

There are and have been many threads to discuss October 7th and demonstrations though and if seeking discussion you’d get better feedback on those.

Not denying. However, using a group such as Palestine Youth who complain about 'wrong doing' is a bit rich since they thought that October 7th was 'resistance' thats pretty sick to many people, eg is never resistance. I don't agree with many things that the IDF or settlers have done but I'd never think Palestine Youth are anything but terrorist supporters, seeing their delight and jubilation over what occurred on October 7th. Vile.

Fortunately there are groups that do accurately document any abuses so they can be correctly investigated. I hope that any war crimes are correctly dealt with. Not sure a mumsnet thread with chit chat would be used as a legal supporting argument, especially, with some of the more 'suspect' reporting of cough, cough 'truths'. 😉

The International Centre of Justice for Palestinians has sent complaints to the Charity commission because the synagogue in question is a charity and by hosting the sale it is in breach of its obligations as a charity. They have evidence (I'm presuming the same as Sky News above ) that land was available in illegal settlements. This evidence has also been sent on to the Met War Crimes .

Then it can be correctly looked at and dealt with using the proper channels. That's the right way to deal with concerns.

Good news

I would be very hopeful but with the expansion into Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon there are many more illegal settlements that can be created.

Concerns? We're talking about the sale of illegally occupied land on UK soil, which was stolen through terrorising, displacing and cleansing the local population. It is entirely appropriate imo to protest outside a venue that this is taking place. Labelling it is a concern is just an attempt to minimise the reality of what is happening.

no doubt
Especially as Israel has said they will not withdraw from the land they’ve stolen in Lebanon
And
They continue to steal more land in Gaza despite the ceasefire!

This may very well disrupt a peace deal
It’s A real sticking point

It’s not at all surprising though

However
I would expect our police force to arrest people involved in the illegal sale of goods
They didn’t at the weekend which is shocking

Agree and of course not only should arrests have been made but illegally stolen goods should be given back to their rightful owners.

We can wish I suppose

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs dispatched letters to the Security Council.

The complaints pertain to the use by Israeli forces in February of the herbicide "glyphosate" which was reportedly sprayed over several southern Lebanese border villages.

Laboratory tests and chemical analyses conducted on soil samples taken from Aita Al-Shaab, Ras Al-Naqoura, and Dhayra confirmed the use of glyphosate at high concentration levels, reaching approximately 23,000 micrograms per gram.

It stressed that this use significantly exceeded levels typically recorded in agricultural soils, which generally range between 0.5 and 2 micrograms per gram at most.

Not only did they not arrest them, they actively supported those who were protesting against the war crimes. Shameful .

Israel is expanding. That was always their aim and they are carrying it out. Plenty more Anglo communities for people to move too .

https://euromedmonitor.org/en/article/7004/Israel-systematically-destroyed-over-93-per-cent-of-Gaza-Strip-cemeteries-amid-ongoing-genocide

Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has documented that the Israeli army has destroyed 93.5 per cent of cemeteries in the Gaza Strip, either completely or partially.

The systematic targeting of graves through demolition and bulldozing constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and reflects a deliberate pattern of erasure. These actions violate the sanctity of the dead, erase physical traces, inflict severe psychological and spiritual harm on the living, and ultimately undermine collective memory, severing historical ties between the population, their ancestors, and their land.

‘ The widespread destruction of cemeteries intersects with deliberate Israeli efforts to erase evidence of crimes committed by the Israeli army in Gaza.

Destroying graves and mixing remains physically obstruct future efforts by international investigative bodies to exhume remains, examine them, verify identities, and determine the actual causes of death. The danger is compounded by documented cases of victims who died as a result of field executions or torture, suggesting that the systematic targeting of cemeteries may be a pre-emptive effort to obstruct criminal justice processes, erase evidence, and secure impunity for perpetrators.’

This is quite disgusting behavior from a country that refused a ceasefire to kill thousands because hostages bodies weren't returned .
