"Brilliant moment pro-Israel protesters get their own back on pro-Palestine mob"

Pro-Israel supporters have taken to the streets after a cinema was vandalised with graffiti for planning to show a film about the Nova festival massacre at the hands of Hamas terrorists.

Pro-Palestine activists sprayed the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley, London, with the message "say no to artwashing". In response, members of the Jewish community and campaigners against anti-Semitism are holding a demonstration outside the picturehouse.
Music could be heard blaring, including Elton John's I'm Still Standing, as smiling pro-Israel supporters waved the Israeli flag in a show of defiance.
A tiny band of pro-Palestine protesters are on the scene, however they are vastly outnumbered.

The volunteer, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Telegraph: “It’s just an outrage. People who are survivors of this massacre are coming here and they could have been confronted with red graffiti that honestly looked like blood.
“One of the people here knows someone who survived the massacre and she was coming tonight. Imagine the trauma if she saw this. People from the community have gone together to clean it up.
“It claimed that the film was artwashing - but it’s not. It’s footage from the festival. It shows what happened. There’s no agenda.

So what was implied? Why would they install an alarm if it wasn't needed?

So what was implied? Why would they install an alarm if it wasn't needed?

Read my post I never said the alarm wasn't needed! I was responding to the poster who said the children were terrified of a terrorist attack on their school and I queried why they were told that? Fine if people think it was appropriate to tell them, I personally don't think it is.

I was also interested to know had there been a terrorist attack threat made to the school I was interested to know because I find it shocking. I don't understand why you are getting annoyed that I wanted a bit more detail about what the poster wrote.

Do you think children don't know what going on in the world? That Jewish children aren't warned about antisemitism? They're not stupid.

I'm not talking about anti-semitism I'm talking about the chance of a terrorist attack on their school to the point that they are terrified. I'm just giving my opinion if others feel they should know fair enough. I would personally not want my child to know that threats like that were made to their school. That is all I'm questioning, whether it is appropriate for the children to know because the poster said they and their teachers were terrified.

Yes if they know that antisemitism exists that that terrorism exists and that terrorism exists and Jewish schools need more security and that there are alarms in their school after the recent rise in antisemitism I'm sure plenty of children can put two and two together.

Oh this is really upsetting to read

Indeed. Where the fuck are the police. Good people end up feeling they have to leave and the country loses them, and is still stuck with anti semitic trash.

They need to know about the threat because they need to know the drill if something happens, to put it bluntly so this is why it's appropriate they know. It might sound shocking to you, but this kind of security is par for the course for Jewish families.

I wasn't brought up with religion nor my kids so we've never had involvement with Jewish schools, but I have always been aware of this and it isn't anything new. Jewish schools have always needed some element of protection because of the terrorist threat and the security is usually stepped up during tensions in the Middle East. It's just no one noticed before. It's the same with synagogues.

What do you mean with this response?

Thank you @79Helene for your explanation. I don't live in the UK so would not be aware of the kind of threats Jewish schools and synagogues receive and I would not have known these kind of alarms are common and that children are drilled in what to do.

79Helene · 24/05/2024 18:12

@Dulra Ah I'm sorry, I had just assumed you were UK. Although I should mention it's not just here, it's similar across Europe. Security's been even tighter in French schools and synagogues for quite some time now, probably more so than in England.

What a puerile/immature/childish thread's tittle. worthy of a playground.

How dare the Jewish community host a film about the worst terrorist atrocity to hit Israel. How dare Jews show solidarity for families that have suffered in unimaginable ways?

The anti film protests show both inhumanity and I think an immaturity. I am proud of the Israeli flags and the supporters surrounding this event. If you went to the USA and graffitied a cinema showing a 9/11 documentary at that time Americans would be a much less restrained in their response compared to dignified stars and stripes waving so I think the cinema supporters should be lauded for their restraint.

There is an insidious move amongst some to wash October 7th out of history. Anti semtism at its worst.

❤️.

My mistake, should have been more observant. Still very childish, especially from a newspaper.

Some people might think that isn’t the relevant issue here. Those crazy people who think that poisonous anti semitism is a bigger problem than a silly headline in a silly paper.

ChickyBricky · 24/05/2024 19:13

PurpleChrayn · 24/05/2024 11:19

Can confirm.

My daughter goes to a Jewish nursery up the road from where we live, and I always worry when I hear sirens heading in that direction. We live in a very militant lefty city and the pro-Hamas mobs (yes mobs; that's what they are) are very active.

Every Friday afternoon there's a protest at the bottom of our street. Not exactly pleasant to hear them shouting "there is only one solution; intifada revolution" as I'm cooking for Shabbat. DH grew up in Jerusalem during the second intifada and has PTSD from getting on the bus directly after one that was blown up. His friends were on that one.

So yeah. Shit time for Jews in the uk. We're moving to Israel next year. A war zone is more appealing.

I'm so sorry Flowers

HermioneWeasley · 24/05/2024 19:31

The denial of the atrocities of 7th October and silencing of people who try to talk about it is despicable. How anyone can justify it is beyond me. It is blatant anti semitism.

FloorMop · 24/05/2024 19:36

There was a bomb attack on a Jewish centre in Finchley the year I moved here. Synagogues, nurseries and schools all have security here. Have done for decades.
I watched the film in question today. Men raping, and torturing women and girls. Same all over the world.
Everyone should watch it.
What I don't understand is how bombing innocent civilians in Gaza is doing anything about the Hamas leaders sitting safely in Iran.

Marjoriefrobisher · 24/05/2024 19:46

But everyone knows the real problem is not the anti-semitism itself, but how the tabloids write about it. How dare you worry more about vicious hatred than the fact that papers which don’t support the Labour Party are still allowed to exist??

Really nasty response thanks.

I am grateful to the posters who explained things to me without reverting to insults. I asked what you found awful about my post and instead of explaining it you slag me off. Not particularly attractive behaviour either.

whereas pretending not to understand why Jewish children need to be told about the threat of attack is of course perfectly fine
