Brits fighting in Israel

Will their British citizenship be revoked? Here is Tamara being glorified in the DM while the likes of Shamima Begum was crucified.

What's the difference between what either of them did because I can't see any and neither should be allowed back.

One joined a terrorist organisation and um....well, the other is supported by our government and many other governments across the world. The right propaganda/information is essential.

TomeTome · 03/12/2023 01:25

Anyone whose dream come true is to do what she is doing is not someone I’d describe as a “lioness”.

Brits aren't allowed to fight for another country. The hypocrisy is real. It's all about labels. Here's hoping Tamara's citizenship is revoked. Sadly it won't be.

The IDF is committing genocide and the world is watching.

To all the parents of the dead children there is no difference between what either woman did.

Shamima was 15 when she left. Tamara is 20.

Oh gawd there are tonnes of mercenaries in the IDF. Yanks in particular go there by the bucketload. They're never referred to as mercenaries but that's what they are.

In a lot of ways they're kind of worse than the shamima begums of the world in that she and others were groomed through shady means and lied to. The IDF fighters know exactly what they're getting into and it's all legitimised on a huge scale.

HobnobsChoice · 03/12/2023 01:40

They have joint British Israeli citizenship is the simple answer.
Yamara has lived in Israel since 2008 and now is doing her mandatory IDF conscription. She didn't run away to join a terrorist group but is drafted into the army of her homeland. It's very different to a British person with no Syrian citizenship to join a terrorist organisation.

Yes and the British part of that citizenship should be revoked.

It doesn't appear to be against the law to fight in another country's army. So no mechanism to strip her citizenship if she still retains it.

As Tamara has lived in Israel since she was 5 and refers to it as her country I don't think she is planning on returning to the UK to live. She is British by birth. That's always going to be there

Her battalion also helped to defend one of the Kibbutz that was attacked on October 7.

FactCheck: what about the Britons who fight for Israel?

British Muslims who fight against the Assad regime in Syria risk being prosecuted as terrorists. What about Brits who volunteer to fight for Israel?

basculin · 03/12/2023 01:54

Shamima Begun joined a proscribed terrorist organisation.

basculin · 03/12/2023 01:54

Shamima Begun joined a proscribed terrorist organisation.

She was groomed. 15. I'm not saying what she did was right or should be allowed back but the differences between her and those that go to Israel to fight should be seen the same.

As I said upthread. Dead is dead.

Whilst Tamara might not come back to the UK there are plenty of fighters who have served in the IDF who will. It's actually sickening.

Nobody from the UK should be allowed to fight for another country without repercussions.

Will have a read of the article.

Wonder about those that went to fight in Afghanistan after 9/11.

But she didn’t go there to fight Confused. She’s lived there since a very young child and as a citizen she’s doing her MANDATORY military service like every other citizen. You’ve chosen to demonise this one girl, posting her picture and comparing her to Shamima Begum because it fits your narrative that all Jews are terrorists. We see you.

She's in the Daily Mail! She's demonised herself 😂 if she didn't want to be known she didn't have to tell her story to the Mail.

A quick goggle search tells me 4 million people read the Mail online.

We see you? Is that some sort of weird threat?

LOL.

That's a circular definition if ever I saw one.

For those who CBA to click on the link I'll save you the trouble.

It says:

Under the Terrorism Act 2000, the Home Secretary may proscribe an organisation if they believe it is concerned in terrorism, and it is proportionate to do. For the purposes of the act, this means that the organisation:

commits or participates in acts of terrorism
prepares for terrorism
promotes or encourages terrorism (including the unlawful glorification of terrorism)
is otherwise concerned in terrorism

Sorry, but I'm still none the wiser.

Can you explain to me what terrorism is @basculin ?

My point is that IS are a legally proscribed terrorist organisation and the IDF are not. So claiming the legal response to joining them should be the same is idiotic.

Jeezypeepers · 03/12/2023 02:43

@headhurtstoomuch you made it out like she ‘went there to fight’ and so she’s a terrorist because in your opinion it’s a terrorist organisation. When in fact she’s an Israeli citizen doing her national service, in the army of her country. But that wouldn’t get the people frothing would it. You’re an anti-Semite, that’s what we see

headhurtstoomuch · 03/12/2023 02:43

@basculin - so you are happy for Brits to go to Israel and fight as part of the IdF? You don't see any problem with them going and then coming back and getting on with life?

How funny.

It's a quaint notion really, that one organisation oriented towards killing civilians is terrorist and another is not just because a third party government says so.

No that's what the article implied. She didn't have to be interviewed. Didn't have to tell her story, didn't have to smile at the camera whilst standing in front of a tank. She chose to.

She knew what she was doing. Would the Mail have run her story if she didn't have the British angle?

Calling me anti semetic as I'm questioning the hypocrisy? Is that all you've got? Funnily enough I'm not but that doesn't fit your narrative.

@Jeezypeepers - can someone please tell Neteyahu's son that he's also an Israeli citizen and rather than sunning himself in Miami should be on the frontline fighting. Oops I digress.

Oh dear....civilians get killed in all wars since the beginning if time.

Look up 'terrorism'.

Not sure there is an accurate word in your entire post.
