Will their British citizenship be revoked? Here is Tamara being glorified in the DM while the likes of Shamima Begum was crucified.

What's the difference between what either of them did because I can't see any and neither should be allowed back.

I won’t continue with this conversation as it’s a derail of the thread.

When it suits you it's a derail but before it wasn't..

@braticus

"I won't be commending anyone who murders innocent men, women and children thank you very much. She is a child murderer just like the rest of the IDF."

I think this post demonstrates the polarisation, simplification and entrenchment of views on both sides that make any peace deal ever harder to reach. The debate is emotionally driven with no reasoned or logical views just shouting of "Israel is bad or Israel is good".

It also means that the alternative solution of "last man standing" is sadly ever more likely.

1dayatatime · 05/12/2023 12:59

@Parkingt111

"How is it possible that normal civilians knew and Mossad didn't get wind of it
Also BBC verify did an article on it which they believe that even some other factions who took part in drills were not aware of the planned attack until the actual day"

Firstly I have always favoured the cock up theories over conspiracy theories. I leave the conspiracy theories to the more nutty posters!

I think the problem was arrogance and overconfidence by the Israeli intelligence. They would have known that Hamas et al were doing training etc but chose to believe that Hamas were not actually capable / able of launching such an attack.

When they had a chance, they voted for a terrorist organisation with the open aim of obliteration of Israel and death to all Jews. They rejected the secular alternative which was edging towards some sort of a solution. Again, why do folk give Islamic regimes a pass on their standards of democracy and morality? Is Islam incompatible with democracy? If so, we need Israel in the Middle East more than ever.

They voted in 2006 - not necessarily representative of what might happen if there were elections today. No different from the UK - Tories were elected in 2010 but wouldn’t be if there were elections now.

@braticus what a thought provoking and educated response.

Unfair. They put a lot of effort into their anti-semitism.

braticus · 05/12/2023 13:24

@stomachameleon Some things are very simple. Murdering children being wrong is one of those things.

braticus · 05/12/2023 13:25

@Hobbi Please point to the exact part of my post that was antisemitic.

Hobbi · 05/12/2023 13:26

@Parker231

I know they voted in 2006. And chose clearly terrorist, truly genocidal religious extremists. Did they expect the Liberal Democrats? They rejected a more secular alternative. They either have agency and know what they are doing, as pro-Palestinians keep telling us or they can't be trusted which would make a two state solution tricky.

I'm
Not playing that game, wherein you avoid referring to religion or ethnicity while clearly promoting anti-Semitic bile. No more engagement from me with false equivalences and supporters of religious extremist terrorists.

No one is saying that Hamas have any good qualities - as a comparison - the Israeli population elected a right wing Netanyahu with an apartheid regime.

@Hobbi So you accuse me of something but can't provide any evidence to back it up. Sounds familiar. Do you work for the Israeli government by any chance?

Hobbi · 05/12/2023 13:37

@Parker231

I respectfully believe that to be a false equivalence.

Well done for saying what anyone with a brain is thinking .

EasternStandard · 05/12/2023 13:49

@ChalkWitch will likely be deleted but it sums up the frustration at reading such stuff

stomachameleon · 05/12/2023 13:55

@braticus I will save my rage and indignation for the animals who raped their way through the peace loving kibbutzim on 7/10.

Parker231 · 05/12/2023 14:03

Everyone is outraged about 7 October - doesn’t mean that I think an Israeli life is worth more than a Palestinian and vice versa.

My concern now is the West Bank.

1dayatatime · 05/12/2023 14:04

@ChalkWitch

MN please don't delete her post.

I am also sick and tired of people launching deliberately inflammatory posts on both sides often couched with "I don't know much about this or excuse my ignorance etc".

They then never return to their original posts.

All these posts achieve is to polarise and entrench existing views making any rational or logical debate impossible dumbing down to "I'm right and you are wrong ".

This creates further division and hatred on both sides and a peaceful solution ever more elusive.

Hopefully this will be allowed to stand.

Im concerned that the Israelis will cause more damage and problems now in the West Bank.

A Palestinian man was shot dead today by Israeli settlers during a clash in the West Bank town of Qarawat Bani Hassan.
According to the report, settlers entered the town together with IDF soldiers. Ahmed Mustafa Assi, a 38-year-old father of six, was then shot, the report said. It cited locals as saying troops prevented medical services or others from helping Assi.

Posts like this are really helpful - we can all ignore anything you have to say if this is what you believe. In what universe is Hamas-run Gaza no different to the UK. The UK has had 3 elections since 2010. People voted for the Tories. I disagree with them, but that's democracy and noone is going to harm me because I don't support the government.
