I thought this was an interesting article about Gaza’s systems of tunnels which would help explain what the IDF are trying to get at.

Ah yes, they’re trying to get to tunnels. That’s why they are starving a civilian population to death and carpet bombing children into oblivion. Makes total sense.

This.

blythemum · 28/10/2023 20:22

That's why they've asked everyone to move south and away from where they will bomb. There are no surprises here. Israel has been very clear that its aim is to destroy Hamas - the terrorist organisation's - infrastructure to protect itself. Hamas is preventing people from leaving. They are disgusting.

SpaceRaiders · 28/10/2023 20:26

Then proceed to bomb the south, where people had sought refuge.

This whole genocide apologist thing is getting so unbelievable. People can see an entire city, a whole population, being destroyed, real images of children with holes in their heads and limbs flung around and burns across bodies and still take time to argue about why it's right.

Most of the targets are in the north but they're still legitimate targets in the south too.

I'm not saying it's a great situation - it's awful - but destroying the infrastructure is the quickest way to get this war finished.

bness · 28/10/2023 20:33

What is the point of these posts, if nothing to repeatedly justify murder and genocide.

There are people dying. Whether they are "your" people or not, they are people. Humans with families and children and hopes and dreams and talents and joys. Please just have some compassion.

Hamas is still firing rockets at Israel by the way.

I support all innocents.

The same way people justified Nazi actions in the holocaust, or bringing black people as slaves, or upholding apartheid.

ChickenSoupAndLokshen · 28/10/2023 20:40

You know, Hamas could surrender to save the people it claims to represent. Release the hostages, stop all rocket fire and fully surrender. The bombing would stop then. Why don't they?

Haha. Very good.

Dear god.

I posted this for people who like to have information about what is going on. This article had the most information about the tunnel system that I have come across so I shared it assuming other people may like to know more about it too. Jumping over the thread throwing around accusations about my motivation is ridiculous. Sometimes people like to know things because it helps them develop a picture or get a deeper understanding of an event.

Not everything is propaganda, sometimes it genuinely is someone saying “oh this is interesting, maybe someone else will find this interesting too.”

Thank you @Noicant for the information.
Some just love to pile on and divert.

Whilst systematically killing thousands of innocent babies and children.

Sugaristheenemy · 28/10/2023 20:56

I don’t doubt there are tunnels under Gaza but I’d be surprised if they really were that complex. How did a massive engineering project like that get built on the sly?

Bendysnap · 28/10/2023 21:01

@Sugaristheenemy with millions of dollars that was intended as aid and development money for the citizens of Gaza. Hamas diverted that to developing the tunnel system and buying arms

ChickenSoupAndLokshen · 28/10/2023 21:03

@Noicant I'm sorry. You're right. I didn't mean to waylay your thread. The tunnels are extensive, as the article shows, and I was keen to make that point as an explanation for the IDF's current actions. I stand by my comments but your thread was not the place to make them. Thank you for sharing genuinely interesting info. It really is fascinating.

I really don’t know when people say things like this whether they are really believe it or just pretending to other people to justify the genocide.

Not even once have Israel offered that. They have not done any negotiations for the hostages. Even the two that were released weren’t negotiated for anything in return.

Well I think they’ve been building them since 2007 apparently and as has been pointed out Gaza isn’t that big, I imagine they are primarily centred around Gaza city proper. Some have been done with machinery according to that article. Hamas has some 40’000 members in Gaza and I read years back about the use of child labour to build tunnels so it’s not inconceivable. There will no doubt be quite a few with the right competencies to build them, structural engineers etc.

But as the article states no-one really knows how big the tunnel network is.

Navigating the intelligence landscape is inherently challenging, rooted in historical precedents such as the extensive use of propaganda during the world wars. This historical backdrop has seamlessly transitioned into the digital era, introducing a new layer of complexity for the general public.
The evolution of media dynamics, particularly in the digital realm, demands a nuanced approach to discerning accuracy from misinformation.
One of the main issues for the public is that they must skillfully navigate this intricate web of influences to extract reliable intelligence from the diverse array of media sources available, ensuring the robustness and accuracy of our assessments.

Thanks for posting. Interesting that even with this knowledge people can't (or won't) understand why Israel is bombing Gaza.
