For anyone old and new trying to conceive their first child. Lovely friendly ladies with a penchant for acronyms, charts and unsuitable snacks await your arrival with open arms. Here's the blatantly copied and pasted List from the last thread. If anything's wrong, I absolve myself of any responsibility!

Sunday's list. Zippy I wasn't sure whether to move you up a cycle or not, so have left for now. We can update.

Morning all!

zippys how utterly rubbish that was. But I'm so pleased you sound like you've got lovely things to distract you with this weekend, and are feeling more positive about it all.

MrsWajs your holiday sounds like it was amazing. I guess you must be shagging all this weekend. Enjoy!

Ooh cavemum I love Bristol. The in-laws live there, and it's one reason not to mind having to go visit! Have a great time.

haloflo i'm crazy impressed by the running. I've always wanted to do Race for Life, but too ashamed I wouldn't be able to run the whole thing. Maybe I should get up off my lardyarse and give it a go.

At least still no ERTD for you Muser?

Expecting ovulation at the end of this week/by next weekend, so am all geared up (and waxed off) for a major shagfest. Made sure and let the hubs catch a glimpse of some new stockings I bought as well, so he's extremely keen as well!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and wishing BFPs at all those in the 2ww.

Muser · 20/06/2010 11:57

You should absolutely do Race for Life! So many women of all shapes and sizes do it. Some run, some walk, some do a bit of both. However you get round you won't be the odd on out. And the atmosphere is fantastic.

almostknockedupgirl · 20/06/2010 12:22

I've seen one that is happening in July near to me Muser. I'm thinking I'll give it a go... Thanks for the encouragement

Kaloki · 20/06/2010 13:01

Could do with some support here ladies, sat here in tears after calling my dad to say Happy Father's Day and getting a tirade about how awful our wedding plans are, and how much I've upset the rest of my family because we can only afford a small venue. My dad has actually said he'd rather not come to the wedding. I'm in a real state, can barely see through the tears to type.

zippys · 20/06/2010 13:10

Just checking on my phone and still got guests but wanted to send a huge hug to kaloki. I am so sorry for you. Weddings can cause so many problems. Will be back to post more later bit wanted to let you know I am sending my hugs xxx

felicityFlick · 20/06/2010 13:19

Kaloki my poor lovely your wedding is going to be gorgeous, just like you. The zoo will be beautiful and the wedding is about you and your dp. Weddings can bring out the worst in people I have found and you have to do what is best for YOU and your dp and not worry about the rest of your family, hard as it is. They love you and will be proud of you and pleased for you whatever you decide I'm sure. Please don't cry xxxxxx

almostknockedupgirl · 20/06/2010 14:07

Oh Kaloki! How horrid! The best wedding is one you and your DP will feel best about, nothing to do with what the rest of the family think. You poor poor thing.

Have you seen the website A Practical Wedding? (On my phone so can't link to it.) Full of sane practical advice and stories ritten by ladies who've been in similar situations and how they managed it.

Hope your DP can be with you to help you feel better soon.

Muser · 20/06/2010 18:11

Oh kaloki, what a horrible thing for your dad to say. Your wedding ought to be what you and your husband-to-be want. It's really unfair of family to put pressure on you like that.

Bellaby · 20/06/2010 19:01

Hello All

A new thread -how exciting. Well done Aries. How did we manage to get to 135 posts already??? At this rate we'll be on a new thread in no time at all.

I hope that you've all had fantastic weekends. Mine has been very lazy - more tennis and then just general slouching in front of the television.

Felicity - sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Hopefully means you will be fully fit in time for your holidays. I hate tonsilitis - used to have it all the time. Can only suggest lots of hot ribena! For our Indonesia trip we are going to be going to a few places in Indonesia - Borneo to see the Orangutans, Komodo to see the Komodo Dragons and then Bali and nearby to chill out on the beach. I'm taking 12 days off work so will be our longest ever holidays. Can't wait

Cavemum - thanks for the tips earlier in the week. Only saw them on Tuesday - I had a bet on a few and think I came out broadly flat (well that's what I tell my DH ) - was a lot of fun but am certainly going to hold you partially responsible if I become an addicted gambler . Keep the tips coming. I hope that you are managing to have a good think about things with your DH. I echo what others on here have said about timings never being able to work out when you want them to. I really feel for you x

kkas - it was great to hear from you again. Fingers crossed for the new job -sounds like it would be great.

Kaloki -sorry to hear about what your Dad said about your wedding. I think it sounds great and if it is what will make you happy then that is the most important thing! I wish I'd thought of the zoo as a venue for my wedding - it's so cool. Few days late (and I think it was you that mentioned it) I know but I like the idea of a webpage showing who has gone before on this thread. Imagine if it is still going in 20 years time! I hope that the new remedy doctor has given does the trick for you.

Superpenguin - I think if you attempt another month like that you should go for sponsorship - that's more impressive than running a marathon . Hope it pays off for you this month

Alien82 -welcome to our friendly family. Glad everything went well with the Mirena removal.

Haloflo -sorry about the arrival of the ERTD. Can't believe you are abandoning me in the Not counting day section though although if I had a clue what day I was on then I would be back there too.

Welcome Miffles - it's great to have some new faces on here already. Can I share those glasses of red wine with you? I have no idea where in my cycle I am as I haven't had the ERTD since about Feb

Claire - thanks for coming in to let us all know. I will certainly miss you a lot and wish you all the very best for the future. Lots of love xxx

Zippys -so sorry to hear about your BFN. You really deserve some luck and I hope that it comes your way soon. Big Hugs. What did you bake for us all???

Welcome Bobby and sorry to hear about your MC.

Almost - good luck with the SWIathon over the next 2 weeks. Not sure if you can beat superpenguin to the top spot in that department though. Hope the stockings do the trick!

MrsWajs - it's so good to have you back again. We missed you but glad you had a good time and have a few days to recover before going back to work. Keeping my fingers crossed for you this month.

Evilgiraffe - still keeping my fingers crossed for you that something happens soon. You might remember - what was that drug that was mentioned on here a few threads back to try and regulate the female cycle? - the doctor I saw last week said if I didn't have much happening in 3 months time he would try me on that.

Hello to Cherrycobbler and anyone else I have missed.

Salty - many congrats on your BFP! Brilliant news and great way to start off the new thread.

Question for anyone knowledgeable - Is there any point in temping without regular cycles??? There is definitely no point in me using my CBDM whilst my cycles are non-existent.

My new ipad should be arriving this week so hopefully I'll be able to get on here more often during the week when that happens. Very excited about it.

Lots of love to everyone

Bellaby

Ariesgirl · 20/06/2010 19:01

Kaloki, it's easy for us to say, but please don't get so upset. It's YOUR wedding and you have it exactly how you want. You could always mention that if this continues, you will have a couple of witnesses and a few friends for a party and that's it! But then you ultimately do want your family there and for it to be a happy occasion for everyone, and you don't want to have to say that. It's your day that you will remember for the rest of your lives so you have it how you want, at a price you can afford. People nowadays seem to feel that weddings are a gigantic excuse to get offended. I really feel for you .

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 20/06/2010 19:06

Well done on the super-long post Bellaby - we crossed there. From what I've heard there's no point peeing on sticks with irregular or long cycles, but I don't know about temping. I'd have thought though, that as your temp only rises after you've ovulated and you do it for a few months to predict a pattern, there may not be much point no. There's probably more to be gained by keeping an eye on gussetry changes. Gussetry is a word you know!

OP posts:
Bellaby · 20/06/2010 19:34

Thanks Aries - can you please tell me what gussetry means?

You might be right about temping but I am trying to see if I can identify when I ovulate.

Have to disagree with you about POAS with a long/irregular cycle - look what happened to me when I got to day 75 last month which must have meant I ovulated somewhere between day 61 and day 68!

Ariesgirl · 20/06/2010 19:56

Gussetry - adj. From noun gusset. Synonymous with EWCM, insofar that certain changes indicate prime SWI-time. Go forth and multiply.

OP posts:
Bellaby · 20/06/2010 19:58

Thank you Aries (one of great wisdom)

Miffles · 20/06/2010 20:03

Thanks for the welcome Bellaby -that was a marathon post! Sounds like you have super long cycles...have you got PCOS as well? I am currently trying taking Angus Castus as that is meant to help regulate cycles. Have you tried that or any other supplements? I have heard that provera is used to induce a bleed before clomid is given...but I don't think this is the same drug your doctor was talking about, as not sure that it actually regulates the cycle .

kaloki - I really feel for you with your dad raining on your wedding plans. It is totally selfish of him. Dad's, though they can be lovely, can also be rather thoughtless. It doesn't help the added stress you're under TTC. When i was chatting to my dad last week about PCOS and being referred to a fertility specialist, he said "well, not everyone can have it all". I was speechless! He clarified that he didn't mean that i couldn't have children, but that not everyone has what they want immediately and i might have to wait a bit. Still felt like socking him one! Foot in mouth!!

I have did Race for Life today with my mum. I didnt' realise 5k was quite so far! We didn't try anything too taxing - like jogging,...just brisk walk. Was such an amazing atmosphere to have thousands of women all uniting to beat cancer. I would recommend anyone else do it.

CaveMum · 20/06/2010 21:39

Hi ladies, hope you've all had a good weekend. Bill Bailey was hilarious! I cried with laughter several times!

almostknockedupgirl I'm from Bristol originally and my parents still live there. I have to admit to not being a fan of the place, but that is mostly due to bad past associations!

kaloki I'm so sorry to hear that your dad has been so insensitive. I know how stressful wedding planning can be, and that's without the added problem of inconsiderate relatives.
As others have said, this is your (you & DP) day and no one elses so what you say goes. Tell your dad that if he wants a big day party for all the family HE can pay for one.
Stick to your guns and gave what you want and invite who you want.

DH and I have talked a little more about things - it is hard to talk in detail as everything is still so vague. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion - as most of you have already pointed out - that we can't wait for the perfect time and place for children. I'm thinking more along the lines of putting TTC on hold for just a month or so, say till late October, and then go at it like bunnies till DH goes away!
Also we've talked about putting our house on the market as soon as the last bit of work as been finished, in October. If we can sell the house and move before DH goes away it would be an extra weight off my mind.

All food for thought!

superpenguin · 20/06/2010 22:33

Hello again, just a quick message from me to Kaloki - everyone has said already that it is YOUR (you and H2B) wedding day and your choice about where to have it and what your priorities are, and especially if you are paying for it then it's down to you to set your own budget and decide what to spend it on. Your family will have to get used to that! I know you want everyone to enjoy the day too but it will be fine in the end I'm sure.
I would also add - don't forget that it's the MARRIAGE that is the most important thing, not the wedding. Sorry if that's a cliche but it's easy to get carried away and very stressed with the wedding day and to temporarily forget the fact that it's the rest of your lives together that matters. This is coming out all wrong - I'm not saying you are doing that at all, just trying to give you some comfort in the fact that whatever happens you are still marrying the person you love so hold on to that. xxx

Bellaby · 20/06/2010 22:42

Miffles - I've just started on the Angus Castus but that was only a week ago.
The doctor did mention PCOS to me but I think he said that it wasn't likely in my case but to be honest my head was all over the place so I can't exactly remember that conversation. I just checked what I wrote in my notes and it was Clomid that he said he would think about in 3 months to try and regulate my cycle. Guess I wil have to go and do some research on that.

Cavemum - glad you had a chance to talk things through. Seems like there are lots of moving parts!

evilgiraffe · 21/06/2010 07:41

Kaloki - (hugs) Hopefully your dad will come round

Still no news from me, only another 37 days to go and then I've hit the magical "six months"... Bellaby - what drug was that? I don't remember!

Hope everyone's doing well, and fingers crossed for everyone on the 2WW!

LankyLegs · 21/06/2010 09:42

Hello all! New fred! Looks very charming in here Aries - has the decor been changed?!

Loads to catch up on - but sat in work trying to check work emails after week away and secretly catching up on mumsnet.

Kaloki I'm really sorry that your dad said that to you. Its YOUR day and no one else's. See this is the trouble with weddings you see - we try and please everyone but at the end of the day is anyone else going to be truly pleased/happy. Do what is right for your both. People say things at such times and often live to regret it.

Cave seems the mud is clearing after that curve ball about your DH's post? You have just got to do what is right for you. Is there ever the PERFECT time to try for kids?

bellaby have you seen your GP then? If your cycles are irregular - as Aries peeing on sticks is pointless (and expensive) and temping - well it might tell you whether you are ovulating? But then if you haven't had period in a while not sure how that would work. The waiting game is super annoying However, you sound like you have an amazing trip planned to look forward to. Super jealous as I have always wanted to visit Borneo!

Evil hope you get something positive soon about cycles? Are you planning to see GP soon?

Salty well done and congratulations! Hope its settling in

Zippys sorry about BFN chica - hope you are bearing up ok?

Mrswajs sounds like the holiday was nice? I hope the hotel didn't put too much of a spoiler on the trip? Although sounds like the kareoke helped! Love FF too - love the fact it detects Ovulation quite clearly and all the symptoms add up. Hope the SWI-ing went well!

Muser any news?

Haloflo sorry about AF - was thinking of you whilst I was away secretly hoping! I think we are very close cycle buddies.

Felicity Hope you feel better soon and look forward to impending wonderful trip

Hello to everyone else I have missed - sorry for rubbish half completed post - will try and catch up properly later.

Holiday in Tuscany was amazing - can't believe its all over Had the most wonderful rustic little villa with a little pool overlooking the Tuscan hills. It was attached to a little vineyard and the charming little farmer sold us a litre of his wine at 2 euros a bottle - so you can imagine how much of that we got through! God I love Italy! The food, the sun, the culture - everything. Sorry - am slightly peeved at having to be back

The only 2 things about the holiday that were not so great was AF that arrived - but got over that with loads of wine, ham and mozzarella! And also on Monday I got a call from the GP asking me to come in and see them about my day 21 blood results - wouldn't give anything away on the phone. Am going in this evening so will see what the say. So I did spend time thinking about what the hell could be wrong. Hey ho.

I have updated the list.

No news from me. No period, no positives, no symptoms. I think I must have miscounted my cycle.

Glad you had a good holiday lanky, good luck with the dr's appointment.

felicityFlick · 21/06/2010 10:19

Just popping in to say glad you're back lanky and good luck at the docs later on. Your holiday sounds divine, all that mozzarella and wine MMMM Salivating here

Also wanted to see if there was any musenews Good sign that there is no ERTD as yet.

Hugs to kaloki, hope you're feeling brighter after a good sleep xxx

Morning to everyone else - thanks for list saor- will try to pop back later on to catch up

womanlytales · 21/06/2010 10:49

kaloki Hope you're feeling better today - agree with others that it's your wedding and you and DH get to plan it just the way you want it.

Sorry about updating the list again - - ERTD came knocking yesterday - first time [TMI WARNING] I had brown stuff...but this morning it was back to red stuff. My MIL who's visiting also chose yesterday to question me on when my days are and tell me to try again next month... like really -- It's tough to be ttc and then face up to ERTD without having a running commentary on what I should be thinking, feeling or doing.
And NO, I don't think this is a public event that needs to be chronicled by everybody who thinks it their business to prod and poke.
Next time, can I please have the strength to tell them to mind their own business...

Sorry for rant.. Updated list for Monday:
