Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

Ooooh Bossy maybe no symptoms are your real symptoms iyswim. As you've had symptoms every month that have been a BFN I've got my fingers crossed for you that no symptoms will be a BFP. I know with my ds I didn't really have any symptoms until I got the BFP and then I'm not sure if my symptoms in the first trimester were real or if I was just looking for them that hard that I found some!

I'm so pleased at the moment as we've just got lots of bits free from freecycle that we're picking up this week Grin I'm going to be putting a few items on too but was thinking of offering them to mumsnetters first but can't seem to find the 'free stuff' threads on my iPhone under any of the topics so don't know where to post them. Anyone else using an iPhone who knows how I can find it? Also does anyone on this thread want a baby activity centre? It's shaped like a car and baby goes in a seat in the middle to play with toys, the seat turns all the way round when baby turns it. It's a bit like a baby walker that gently bounces but no wheels so IMO it's safer. I'm in Wetherby area, near Leeds. Free to anyone who can collect it.

MummyWithA1Family · 19/08/2010 01:20

By the way ladies, we're going to have to start thinking of a new thread title soon and someone will have to start a new thread as we have less than 50 more posts on here before it's full!

How about;

The obsessive symptom spotters corner where no symptom is TMI..... Grin

bossyboop · 19/08/2010 14:58

A1 thats exactly what im hoping, tho was a bit gutted when my belly was bloated last night, dh rubbed it and said whats this? I said "pork dinner" well it was! hopefully not pre af.

oh no, i must stop posting then, i was determined to get a bfp before its full!

MummyWithA1Family · 20/08/2010 02:46

Or Bossy you could try for the first BFP on the new thread. That'd be great......especially if it was the very first post after the OP! Grin

I think we should take bets as to who's going to get the next BFP. I'm going to go with Bossy because of the 'no symptoms' symptom Grin or Assasin simply because she's having the dye test which often clears the tubes.

However, I would love it to be any of our long-timers as that'd give us all a much needed boost. Fingers crossed and lots of baby dust scattered over all of us (old-timers and newbies alike). xxx

row78 · 20/08/2010 13:45

mummy - great to hear you being positive and getting straight back on that horse, fingers crossed for this month.

bossy The one time I was pregnant I was convinced that I wasn't because of lack of symptoms, I even tested late I was that convinced, can't even imagine that now! Symptoms didn't kick in really until about 7 weeks pregnant.

I think I ovulate this weekend, but my house is full of relatives again, argh! I don't like doing it with other people in the house! I'm weeing on a daily stick for my clearblue monitor but it still says low at 12 days, I'm sure I ovulated on day 15 last month, I must be rubbish at weeing on sticks. I've also given up booze this month because I've heard it can mess up your hormones, this better work this month!

AuntFlosAssassin · 20/08/2010 13:50

Hello lovely ladies Grin

A1 loving that thread name suggestion!!! Grin. Describes us all to a T!!

Bossy fingers crossed that the no symptoms is actually a symptom like A1 said!

I had the dye test yesterday and it was not a pleasant experience at all, but thankfully my tubes are clear woohoo!! We're hoping that the good flush out will have a positive effect this month for us.

How is everyone doing?

row78 · 20/08/2010 13:56

good luck Assassin

my first pregnancy came after a dye test (even though they said they were blocked), fingers crossed, do it every day!

bossyboop · 21/08/2010 09:45

I hope thats the case for you assassin I really do Smile

Row - good on you with your giving up booze, Ive been trying to cut the caffeine and just on 1 cup a day unless dd is making me stressed!

With dd i didnt have any symptoms till the day before af was due and the smell of the damp air from the tumble dryer was making me retch and it happened twice so that made me wonder. I waited till the next day to test (the day af was due) I sat on the loo at 7.30am with my last test thinking why did i pee on it when af could easily start later in the day or even the next day and that dh would be annoyed at another wasted test. But then i thought no i feel different, couldnt put my finger on it exactly what it was. Then got a faint bfp! Then that was it till about 7 weeks when i felt sick all day everyday. Cant believe I only used 1 test that month and waited till af was due! Though I was lucky it was my 2nd month of ttc.

AuntFlosAssassin · 23/08/2010 13:26

thank you everyone Smile

bossy i always assumed giving up caffeine would be easy but its actually not! i have took a real notion recently for earl grey tea and cant stop drinking it (and sniffing the box Blush). this has been ongoing for a few weeks now so its defo not a pg symptom lol

row i have decided every other day for bding as im afraid bding every day will effect sperm levels.

speaking of sperm-dp has to go for sperm analysis next tuesday. He was moaning about how awful its going to be 'wanking into a pot' lol i got quite annoyed as i would prefer to wank into a pot 50 times rather than have another dye test.men eh so bloody inconsiderate sometimes lol

how is everyone else doing?

row78 · 23/08/2010 14:14

bossy I gave up caffiene at uni (because it stopped me sleeping) and it was awful that first week, constant headache right at the front of my head. I drink decaf tea now and that helps me with my tea fix that I need in the evening after dinner. It's annoying that restaurants don't sell it though.

Assassin - do you now how dp's sperm levels are? (I know you are going for an analysis next week but have you had one before?) That Taking Charge of Yur Fertiliy book says that you should do it every day unless the bloke has a low sperm count. And haha, I know how you feel, have you had an internal scan? What a shock that was when he started brandishing the scanner, these blokes have no idea how lucky they are!

bossyboop · 23/08/2010 14:46

assassin love the tea sniffing!

I take it decaf is ok? I will have to try it, not that I drink much anyway, but its a nice comfort on rainy days and when poorly, though im getting some hot chocolate that contains folic acid.

My pre af spotting is due any day now...

MummyWithA1Family · 24/08/2010 02:30

This thread keeps disappearing from my list. Even put it on my watch list but it disappears from there too. Is this a sign? Hmm Can but hope.... Grin

According to dates I should be ovulating over the next few days so fingers crossed my back's up to some serious hard work Wink

I drank decaf tea and coffee when pg with ds and didn't really notice the difference, although when dh tried it he thought it was vile. Mind you he's a real coffee freak connoisseur! I wonder if he'd notice if I made him a decaf without telling him, will have to try as he drinks far too much caffeine imo.

Thought of a new thread title TTC? Home of the suspicious boob, where no symptom is TMI! Grin Any other ideas? Come on we've got to choose one soon and it'd be fun to think of a few!!

Has anyone heard from Dandelion recently? Just wondering if she's ok as haven't 'seen' her around for a while.

I've got my appointment for recurrent miscarriage clinic on 4th October but hoping to get a BFP before I go. When I was 6 months pg with ds I had an appointment for IVF clinic. I rang to say I didn't need it as I was pg but was told she thought I should go anyway! I went along, walked into consultant's office and said 'I don't know why I had to come as it's obvious I don't need IVF as you can see for yourself!' My gynae was fab and so excited for me as he didn't think I'd ever concieve, even with IVF (he never said that beforehand thankfully). So I'm hoping history will repeat itself.

Fingers crossed for lots of BFPs this month especially (in alpha order) Assassin , Bossy and Row Sprinkling lots of baby dust around the room xxx

bossyboop · 24/08/2010 09:34

Im on cd27 of a typical 25-28 day cycle and I usually spot 2-3 days before so should be spotting now but im as clean as a whistle and lets hope it stays that way! Here are my norms and what is different this month...

Usually have brown spotting by now - no brown spotting and have noticed increased cm for the last week.

Sore nips and one SB - both boobs are full, no soreness, if anything the odd tingle

Bloated tummy - twinges in all the muscles front and back, area just feels weakened, Feel full and heavy and not just after a big meal! Also feeling sickly after ive eaten.

Spotty skin - had a breakout after af this time and although still clearing that up now, not had any new additions.

Feeling positive about why its good not to get a bfp this month but no positive thoughts that it might actually work this time and generally feeling flat - feeling super positive that this is the month, especially after receiving a white feather, feeling so happy I could cry.

Waking up for the loo at least once through the night - sleeping right through every night, cant believe it! Also feeling really tired and struggling to keep my eyes open at 8pm even though Ive been sleeping well.

And generally just feeling different in a way I cant describe Smile If its a bfn then im clearly losing the plot but hooray for sleeping through the night!

AuntFlosAssassin · 24/08/2010 10:25

What about: suspicious boobs annonymous Grin

Bossy got my fingers crossed so tightly for you.Im convinced the white feather was a sign. wish one would float my direction lol

A1 dont know if ive asked before but are you using ov tests?

Row dp hasnt had a SA before, no-one saw the need to send him for one as we already have our ds. Ooh i assume you are talking about the delightful transvaginal scan-i've had 3 (two when 7 weeks pg with ds and one in oct last year when i attended my first gynae appointment.) The first time i nearly died of shock when i realised what they were going to use that for lol Saying that i would rather have an internal scan over a dye test any day. Was your dye test as unpleasant as mine was? I noticed that for a few days after the dye test i had alot of tissue type matter when i wiped.

bossyboop · 24/08/2010 12:51

Was sat on the loo before staring at my bfn and i said to myself, i bet when i wipe now its red and sure enough I had some blood tinged mucus. So could be game over, could be implantation, I reckon I may be 11dpo if I did ovulate the day I had twinges on my left side for almost 24 hours. Trying to not go back and forth to the loo to investigate, what will be will be. Usually have brown spotting though, the month I had the weird bleeding where I suspected it may be implantation started like pink tinged mucus then later some red. at that time I thought it was implantation then as time wore on it looked like it just didnt take, but guess i will never know. Just looking for a comparison I guess, that maybe it is implantation and that this time it will take.

Maybe my body is being mean to me as I was so weak and gave in and tested - I wanted to wait until next wednesday when it will be 4 years to the day when i got bfp with dd. The pregnancy calculator on here even gave the same due date as I originally got for dd before it was revised after my scan. That would just be really spooky especially as it would mean im only fertile 1 month of the year!

AuntFlosAssassin · 24/08/2010 12:54

oh bossy really hoping and wishing for you that it is in fact implantation. try not to give up hope just yet

bossyboop · 24/08/2010 13:05

mixed feelings now, totally feel like this is the month. Said I wouldnt go to the loo but been for an investigation...extremely snug in there, closed for business or pre af??? Very clean and not a hint of the brown stuff and plenty cm. Oh this requires a google!

TheDiceGirl · 24/08/2010 21:25

I'm back!! remember me? Wink

Excuse my absence... I just got very fed up and decided to take a break. That and we've been moving house, which is great but it does take its toll.

So, I had tests done, everything fine Hmm. Doctor was reluctant to bring af on because he said it'd be better for my body to do it on it's own as that would encourage it to get into a proper routine by itself. He did say though that if nothing had happened by the end of the month then it would have to be done.

But you'll all be pleased to know that I am on cd7!! Grin After a 104 day cycle I am finally back. I've never ever ever been so happy for af to come! So I'll be back to my old symptoms spotting self in a couple of weeks Grin

I'm gonna backtrack all the old posts now so I can get up to speed, but hi to everyone and lots of baby dust :) hope you're all good x

I've changed my name again ladies. I was reading a thread slating women with nicknames defining themselves as 'just' a mummy ie JoeBloggsMummy and felt shamed into changing! Sad I didn't want to be labelled as 'twee' so thought I'd best change it. So here I am, Radley addiction shown to the world (as if I could keep it secret with all the handbags, purses, keyrings and even an umbrella that I have stashed away!!).

Hi DiceGirl welcome back. It mustve been horrific for you having a 104 day cycle and I thought mine was long enough - clearly nothing compared to yours!

Bossy I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you if you keep your legs crossed you'll keep your fingers firmly clamped over one another too. I really do hope it's not af, I was am so confident this is your month. It'd be a lovely touch too if you were to get a BFP 4 years to the day after your dc. Keep us informed xxx

How you doing after the test Assassin? Have all the symptoms/cramping etc gone?

Love and babydust too all xxx

bossyboop · 25/08/2010 12:33

ok so probably going to experience af in full force now but still as clean as a whistle. BFN still this morning but i wasnt surprised, didnt have a good feeling about it like I did when i tested positive last time - i just knew.

Dont know if this is a bad thing as may mean af IS looming but SB is back and a bit sore though not nips like usual, sore at the bottom though probably off the underwiring though never been sore there before.

Welcome back everyone!

AuntFlosAssassin · 25/08/2010 13:32

Radley just as well i changed my name from seanybosmummy then lol but why people would slate being 'just' a mummy is beyond me-being a mummy is my biggest achievement to date and something to be proud of, so if we want to include mummy in our names then we should go for it!! rant over lol
im doing fine after the test, thanks rad. Spotted tissue like substance for a few days after, and it may sound weird but i feel exactly like ive had a good flush out! How are you doing after all your illness and your mc? good i hope?

Welcome back DiceGrin. Holy shit cant get over the length of that last cycle you had-you are some woman staying sane after that!

Bossy limboland is the worst place to be-hope you get some answers soon.

Hi Emmy how are you finding the cbfm?

Awwwww A1, you missed me {hugs}....um, oh, was that you changing your name to Radley ?....am still trying to catch up on things!

I'm afraid that I dropped off the radar for a while - went on holiday with dh, and then since we got back we've been jumping through hoops trying to get an offer accepted on a house. TBH TTC has taken a bit of a back seat over the last month, which has actually been quite refreshing. Nothing quite like house-hunting/moving to take one's mind off things eh DiceGirl, lol. Highly recommend it Grin.

Am on CD4 now and AF is in full force. Uugh. I had such a weird cycle last month....ovulated 5 days early, and then AF also arrived 5 days early. So, having come to the conclusion that my body is nuts, I've just ordered a clear blue fertility monitor to help point me in the right direction next month.

Have been thinking of you all, and now going to read back through all the posts that I've missed......

row78 · 25/08/2010 21:41

I don't know why it is bad to be a mummy, namewise, don't understand why this defines you as just a mummy, call yourself what you like!

bossy I do the same thing, start to spot 3 days before, fingers crossed it is implantation

I'm on the CBFM as well, this month it came up with a peak yesterday, which I would have decided was too late and stopped trying, so it's really heped me. I've had womb ache most of the day so hoping that is ovulation pain and DH and I are too tired to do it anymore! Yes, I try to spot ovulation symptoms as well :)
