Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

Hi ladies, I disappeared as have had masses of family visiting, but I've been symptom spotting for ovulation as well during that time :-)

I think I'm 8 days past ovulation and my symtoms this month are:

  1. Not wanting booze the other night
  1. Bits feel funny up there (I'm so sorry!)
  1. I have clear cm, when The Book says I there should be none.

That's it, god knows how I'm going to wait until next weekend to test. Think I'll do a sneaky early test on saturday as I have a wedding and if it's negative I'll allow myself a glass of champers.

Hope you're all doing well, any had a positive since last month? Will catch up with the thread later.

Flighttattendant · 02/08/2010 19:21

Hello Row

Clear CM sounds brill! I have been having some too but it's not clear (tmi) I won't go into detail but don't think I normally get this. (hmm)

Also have felt really, really weird the last few days. Temps have gone through the roof, I think I am triphasic actually and I've been waking all night from hotness and having the most weirdy, vivid dreams.

I only get dreams like that when I am pg. I am really scared to test though at 11dpo I really should. I just would freak out.

I had a really stuffy head today as well. Either I have the worst PMT EVER, or I am going nuts, or I'm pg.

Hope it is the PMT!

Let us know how you get on - when do you plan to POAS?

Flighttattendant · 02/08/2010 19:33

Ah sorry missed that bit!

See I am really not with it. It is a SIGN. lol

MummyWithA1Family · 03/08/2010 01:21

Hi everyone. Sorry not been on for ages but not felt up to writing a post. Have been reading posts every night and a few nights ago wrote a really long one but bloody thing deleted before I sent it!

I'm currently on cd24 and dpo 13 (ewcm) or 5 (according to iPhone app). Only managed to bd 13, 11 and 9 days ago because of my back so don't think I'm in with much of a chance! Having said that I'm still symptom spotting although I'm genuinely thinking if it happens it happens (well today I am anyway.....!!). Current symptoms are:
Absolutely shattered, to the extent that I can barely open my eyes after a good nights sleep (this was my biggest symptom with DS, although only had 2 symptoms),
Tastes have dramatically changed (absolutely cannot stand peppers and ate half of one for dinner and enjoyed it, before even the smell turned my stomach! This was my other symptom with DS),
DS pointing at my tummy saying 'baby, baby' (he's only ever done that once before which was a couple of weeks before last mc and he's never seen a pregnant woman and been told baby in tummy etc)
I think there was another but can't remember (hope it wasn't bad memory.....!! lol)

Don't know when or even if to poas. According to chart af due 11th and by my calculations it's 7th but who knows after last months lengthy cycle hmmmm. I know it's far too early now but I need an actual date to keep me focused and not waste tests. Help needed please.

Anyway going now as really tired, can barely keep eyes open. Have been writing this line for half an hour!
Good luck to all on the 2ww x

row78 · 04/08/2010 14:17

Hi flighattendent, dreams and temperature sounds good. Did you POAS in the end? I'm now on 10 DPO and slowly going crazy with the wait, maybe I'll pick up one of those First Response tests that you use before you even ovulate :-) I know I shouldn't, I must remain strong...

mummy, maybe you could get a sensitive test and test on the 7th, then with it being only 4 days off the official date it could potentially show something up? Also you could have a glass of wine to ease the stress if it came back negative that evening then. The taste change sounds promising though.

Yesterday my gums bled when I brushed them, and today my legs ache. However the cm has buggered off. My womb does seem to be aching but that happened last month and nothing was going on then. Also have had to get up at 4am each morning because my bladder is close to exploding.

row78 · 05/08/2010 07:40

I weakened this morning and did a First Response test, the one that can apparently show you the result 6 days early, BFN. I'm 11 DPO so have decided that I can't be pregnant and stop obsessing about it. I actually thought I was as well this month, oh well, onto next month.

MummyWithA1Family · 05/08/2010 16:23

Row don't give up yet. It's not over til the fat af sings!! When is af due?
I'm not going to do a test til Sunday at the earliest. Af due tomorrow and I tested late with ds so there's no point as I'll only be gutted with the inevitable bfn.
Got to tell you all to look at September's issue of Your Dog magazine pages 98-99. It's about my family!! It's the story when our dog saved my ds life when he stopped breathing at 5 months. We thought he was asleep but our dog jumped up barking non stop until we checked on ds and found he wasn't breathing. It kills me to think of it but if it wasn't for her ds wouldn't be here now as a cheeky 20 month old!! I'm sooooooo proud of my little dog

row78 · 06/08/2010 07:43

mummy you are so strong willed! Did your AF come today or are you still in the game? I think I am due on monday, I've had a few weird months so quite hard to be sure. However I am sure that I ovulated Sunday 25th Jul (if at all) so should be showing up by then. But was planning on doing a test on Saturday as I haev a wedding that day so could have some booze relatively guilt free if negative.

However, because I am mental I used a cheapy ovulation kit I have, and a really faint line turned up (which was more that I got on any day apart from 2 around ovulation), I know this isn't reliable but it gives me a small glimmer of hope.

I have never heard of Your Dog magazine but I'll keep an eye out for it!

bossyboop · 06/08/2010 12:33

wow an amazing dog!

fingers crossed for you row!

im not sure what day im on, af got off to a weird start but dont think ive ovulated yet but managed a couple of times early on, tho on the same day Blush just in case im one of those that ovulates before af has even left the building. Going to hold dh hostage tonight as cm is suggesting ovulation hasnt occured yet but is about to (as im now an expert on the subject) Hmm then every 2 days thereafter. Been so tired though and why is it i keep getting dreadful hormonal spots when im going out Angry post af spots whats that about thats not acceptable! Dreadful heartburn today as well - wow symptoms before ive even ovulated Smile

row78 · 06/08/2010 13:23

boo - I've stared stopping so AF must be on it's way, 3 days early. Oh well at least I can drink tonight. At least I can start to use my CB fetility monitor now to figure out my cycle. I usually check cm and thought based on that I had it spot on this month, and I did have ovary ache for a while on the day I thought I ovulated on.

bossy, hope the spots, heartburn and tiredness goes away, it's not fair if you're not duffed up to have the lot :)

AuntFlosAssassin · 06/08/2010 13:29

hi everyone Smile

i have not even been thinking about ttc this month at all and have only bd twice, dont know what cds as i havent been counting!! its been great just chilling about it! I actually only figured out what cd im on last nite for the first time as i had cramps and felt like af was gonna come. turns out i was on cd21 yesterday so i think af might come early as ive still some cramps today.Dont mind it coming early though as ive to arrange my dye test with the hospital on cd1 of next cycle.

Got the results of my cervical swab yesterday and everything is normal so thats another weight off my mind!!

How is everyone else doing?

A1 wow what a brilliantly smart dog you have!! Im sure you must be giving him/her lots of treats!!

Row fingers crossed for you that ov happened!

Bossy how are you feeling now?

bossyboop · 06/08/2010 14:44

Row was your faint line recent, Ive read about ovulation sticks detecting the pregnancy hormone, read it in some threads.

assassin - im well stressed, skint, agitated about some other stuff. Going to let my hair down and have a night of fun and will just have to put half an inch of slap on to try and cover this beast and just try and have a good weekend and get cracking with some serious bding!

row78 · 06/08/2010 14:52

bossy, it was yesterday after work. However it could have been after 30 minutes as well because my son started to bug me and I forgot about it (but I think it was within 30 mins which is the time specified on the instructions.)

My previous post should have read "I've started spotting". No idea what happened there, stared stopping makes no sense!

MummyWithA1Family · 06/08/2010 18:55

Hi all just had to come on for a quick post (although knowing me it'll still end up a novel Smile).

I've just done a test as I got a sudden urge that I couldn't supress. I didn't wait for morning sample or concentrated wee (only been to toilet half an hour before I did it so wee almost clear sorry for TMI!). I can't believe it but, wait for it,

I GOT A BFP! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Fair enough it was very feint but I gave it to DH and asked how many lines he could see and he said "TWO, one clear and one feint"!! Maybe I'm celebrating too early as it was one of those 2 for £1 from the pound shop but will crack open the clearblue digital in the morning (or maybe Sunday as the cheapie tests test at 10 and CB at 25 - any suggestions how long to wait?).

Will come back online later to read and respond to earlier posts. Just bear in mind ladies that BFPs (on this thread) usually come in multiples, I can't remember reading of just one in a month and no more. I hope I'm the lucky omen for you all [fingers crossed emoticon].

Assassin I'm feeling a bit guilty as you've been trying a lot longer than me and really wish you, and of course all our other regulars ie Bossy, Row, Dandelion, etc, will soon be getting a BFP too so I won't feel as bad xxx

See told you it'd turn out a long post!!

I hope I don't come back over next day or two all Blush because test was wrong!!

MummyWithA1Family · 06/08/2010 18:56

Now I'm thinking I shouldn't have said anything as maybe it was a faulty test (AF was due today or tomorrow)......maybe I just want it so badly I'm scared I'll jinx it somehow! Hmm

row78 · 06/08/2010 19:16

woohoo! How on earth could it be defective? Unless it was picking up something else in your urine, which seems like hard work to mess that up you're pregnant!

congratulations!

I would do one tomorrow morning, do you not have any more 10 ones?

MummyWithA1Family · 06/08/2010 19:34

Thank you! I doubt it's defective really but trying not to get hopes up too high. Yes I do have 3 more of the 10 ones but as they're so cheap I guess I won't believe it until an expensive test tells me so. Mad aren't I? Lol

TBH I probably will do it tomorrow morning as my willpower's deserted me!

AuntFlosAssassin · 06/08/2010 22:08

omg A1 thats brilliant news!!! please dont feel bad at all,its def news to be celebrated and after what you've been through in the past you deserve it!!
ps hope your right about the multiple bfps!!!

Bossy letting your hair down and having a good weekend sounds like a good plan.hope you manage to destress and get back to your usual positive self soon.

row78 · 06/08/2010 22:15

mummy but if the line is a bit darker tomorrow you feel more confident...(to be honest if I was you I would have done another by now, particularly if you have spare!)

Af is alnost definately here...I know why it turned up 3 days early this month, I have a light coloured dress to wear at the wedding tomorrow. I have no idea how my cycle works now...at least there appears to be a cycle of sorts, which is better than when I tried for the first time.

bossyboop · 07/08/2010 15:07

wow congrats A1 ive got a super smiley face now, thats brilliant news, knew your symptoms sounded really promising! Smile

row i read it twice but knew what you meant lol! Fingers crossed for you that you are the next one, when are you going to test?

pounced on dh this morning, i thought he was stirring but was still asleep lol not that he complained Blush a couple of days to ovulation so here we go!

assassin, after spending 2 days applying many lotions and potions my face has settled down and is covering with make up at least. Is it time to go to the bar yet...!

row78 · 08/08/2010 20:29

mummy - did you test again

bossy - fingers crossed you attack your husband at the right time!

I've been spotting for 3 days now but AF still not properly here, is this normal? Why can't I just have normal cycles?

MummyWithA1Family · 08/08/2010 23:52

Row when are/was you due? Is it possible it's implantation bleeding? I hope so as I could really do with a buddy in the Due April 2011 thread! When did you last test?

I joined the April 2011 thread and am now not sure if I'm a fraud or not! I've done SIX tests now and have had 3 feint lines but not getting much darker and 3 negatives! Is there such thing as a phantom pregnancy in humans like there is in dogs? Just not sure if my body's playing tricks on me as I so desperately want it! Thank goodness I've not told lots of people as if it's wrong I'd feel a total plank!! lol

Moan time (sorry ladies)
Why oh why does my body have to p*ss me about and destroy my happiness like this? I'm really hopeful on the one hand as I've got soooooo many symptoms, yet so despondent and demoralised on the other hand!! I will make an appt on Tuesday at the drs, can't go tomorrow as have got mum's pre-op assessment and can't let her go on her own.

Need some hope ladies please. Actually, no, forget that, I need a bloody good shake and telling to pull my socks up and realise what will be will be. Something along the lines of the following would do;
A1 stop moaning and get on with life FFS. If you're pregnant, you're pregnant, stop being so bloody impatient and just wait and see!

How did women cope with the 'Am I, aren't I?' speculation before poas, scans etc etc? It's hard enough with poas let alone without. Mind you in a few generations there'll be something on the market that tells you if you're pregnant instantly a day or two after ovulation that'll be 100% accurate and our grandchildren or great grandchildren will wonder how we coped. Actually there's a question for you all; what would you invent or wish you could buy and what would it do/how would it work? I'll start us off;

I'd like to buy a machine that instantly tells you when you're ovulating and if you were successful before you finish ovulating so you can try again if you were unsuccessful! It'd be a little discreet machine that you hold over you're lower abdomen.

Also, I'd like to have a machine that sterilises unfit parents and gives their fertility to those that would make great parents. After all those that are crap parents seem to breed like rabbits whereas some that can't get pregnant would make fantastic parents. Like I always say being a parent should be a huge privilege not everyone's birth right!
I especially like the second idea! lol

Oh look I've written yet another unbelievably long post - sorry ladies! There's an idea, maybe I should change my name to mammoth post or epic novel or epic post. Any good ideas related to my ever growing post length?!?! Blush Grin Blush Grin Blush

bossyboop · 09/08/2010 11:27

I would like to have purple wee when pregnant to make it ever so obvious! Though it may lead to the whole ooooo i think its more pinky so must be a girl debate.

Dont think you need a good shake at all, think given the circumstances and everything its perfectly understandable to feel this way. I know I feel nervous about getting a bfp now ive read so much about chemical pregnancies and all that. It was so straightforward getting pregnant and having a pregnancy without having access to the internet! Now I think I know tooooooooooooo much about the subject, though could be a good topic for mastermind!

I am feeling suspiciously good, very positive and happy and could cry about my happiness even though not sure why im happy when im actually really tired after a late night at the weekend, too many drinks and not a lot of sleep. Treated myelf to some pre pregnancy poached eggs - I know I know, im living life on the edge and need to calm down!

Thinking happy egg thoughts (human egg waiting to be fertilised not poached eggs, though they were delicious) though no ewcm in sight so hopefully the ship hasnt sailed yet for this month.

row78 · 09/08/2010 11:40

It looks promising, mummy, it's so hard to wait and find out for sure. Are you still using the cheapy tests? Maybe you can use one of the digital ones in a few days time?

I would like the first machine! I'm feeling down today, before my first pregnancy I was diagnosed with PCOS and then the lap and dye showed blocked tubes. When the consultant told me this I was in such shock that I never asked further questions and now I really feel like I need to know the answers. How did my tubes get blocked? I've never had any infections never mind a serious one but then I got prenant the month after, so are the tubes blocked or not? Am I going through all this uncertainy for nothing?

So I know how you feel in a way, why can't it all be straight forward for us and why can't we believe a BFN? I did a test a day for months just to make sure the hormone levels were still up. Should I just thanks my lucky stars I have one great son?

Definately not implantation spotting now...still not full on AF but more than spotting...

Ilovemarmite79 · 09/08/2010 19:40

This is my first message on here and first cycle of TTC. I am convince I'm pregnant :-) I had a 3 hr nap on Sunday - I NEVER sleep in the day. I've been feeling queazy on and off, needed the loo lots and been getting hot and cold. Am I pregnant?
