Hi all, old and new, this is the thread where all moaning, pieces of tmi, discussions and virtual cups of tea and biscuits come together to keep us sane .. or at the least insane together!

OP posts:
MrsGazebo · 17/02/2010 17:10

Oh Slimyak I'm so sorry.
Some Medical professionals have no idea do they.
Mumsnet has done some fabulous work with the Dept of Health creating a Standard Miscarriage Code of Practice.
Hopefully in future the NHS will provide their staff with appropriate training in how to handle those traumatic moments.

I went through something similar but we were taking part in a trial.
Our Consultant said at our 12wk scan "It is perfect, your placenta is perfect,I just don't understand, you had a heartbeat and everything"
!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
We had a feeling she was more bothered about her trial ending early.

You are in the right place,Welcome, snotty or not, we're not fussed

The stats mean:
TTC# = Trying to conceive.
UCL = Usual cycle lenght
CD = Cycle day. Day 1 being 1st day of AF
WTF = What the fuck (For those of us just post MC and AF has not turned up on time so we wait!?)
I do hope thats what you meant and I haven't just pandered to you like you were 4.

I'm sure one of our luvverly ladies will add you or just add yourself.
I'm not too hot on doing stuff like that and would probably manage to delete the whole site if I tried

Oooooo! Huey from the FLC's is on Loose Women!
MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I'd let him make me Bacon Butties in the mornin'

liahgen66 · 17/02/2010 17:55

hi all,

haven't been on for a while but hello and welcome to the newbies, sad you are here but i am feeling positive so I know this is gonna be lucky for alot of us on here.

I am feeling impatient for the next few days now, cd 20 from erpc and kind of expecting everything to be back to normal straight away, that makes me due on Monday. Am sitting on my hands cos am dying to test, I know it's wayy too early and would have to be very lucky to fall this month (old habits die hard I guess)

malteser1981 · 17/02/2010 18:05

Alba - yep I'm here to stay, still got weakly positive pregnancy test and due for USS friday to ensure the miscarriage is complete. I know you won't think I'm mad when I say this is the first time I've ever wanted a negative pregnancy test. I feel as if this is all 'wasted' time....would like my cycle back please!

malteser1981 · 17/02/2010 18:07

ps my stats UCL 28 and WTF!!!

Muser · 17/02/2010 19:06

Hi all.

Well after my scan today they've decided it must be an ectopic pregnancy. They think it's the cyst on my right ovary as it doesn't look quite 'right'.

So tomorrow I get a dose of Methotrexate to treat it. Hopefully that will be enough and I won't need surgery. But it means I am not allowed to even try for another baby for 3 months after treatment to make sure the Methotrexate is completely out of my system.

With that in mind, I might as well come off the stats completely. I've a long wait ahead of me.

Icedlemonmuffin · 17/02/2010 19:16

Hi can I join? On the nov ttc thread but coming up to first anniversary ( sounds wrong but what do you call it?) of mc and having a wobble.

Had a really traumatic mc last march(started on mothers day of all days) ended up in the back of an ambulance at six in the morning after fainting and having a fit. In a and e they acted as if I was over reacting nurse said 'heavy bleeding is to be expected!' but when I stood up and blood gushed every where finally got taken seriously.

By then had unrecordable bp , passed out again and woke up while being rushed to resus. After one op and some pints of blood went home after being told it's just one of those things and try again in six months.

I have dd who is six so I'm lucky but really want another!

Sorry so long the point of my post is I feel after nearly a year I should be coping better, but somedays it's all I think of. I just wanted to know how others cope ?

AlbaDeTamble · 17/02/2010 20:17

Muser I'm so sorry to read your news. Really don't know what to say except ((((hug)))) And big apologies for asking about the list earlier, I didn't see you already there on pending and didn't mean to be insensitive. Have taken you off pending stats - but hoping you'll stick around if it's not too tough whilst you have to wait? Good luck with the next few days, not to mention your wait for TTC. That's so hard

welcome to icedlemonmuffin but sorry to hear what you've been through -- that sounds incredibly traumatic. I'm pretty humbled by some of the things I read that people on this thread have been through, and I really don't know how I would feel after something like you've been through, though what I do know is there is no set way that we should be feeling or deadline by which all the feelings should have gone away as I doubt they ever do completely, we just have to try to be kind to ourselves and not expect always to be coping perfectly... I hope you'll find a bit of help here getting you through, I know in my limited experience so far, just talking about it with others who are sympathetic really does help.
In a funny kind of way I think it's coping by knowing there's somewhere it's safe not to be coping, and where you can talk about all your wobbles without being judged??

Here's the list updated for Malteser... fingers crossed for everyone nearing the top...

malteser1981 · 17/02/2010 22:23

Muser - can't imagine how you must be feeling, so much to take it from one appointment. Good luck with the treatment.

Alba - thanks for adding me as typing this is the absolute limit of my IT skills!

Icedlemonmuffin · 17/02/2010 22:38

Thanks Alba and a big hug to Muser I know words can't really help at a time like this but thinking of you .

MrsRigby · 18/02/2010 03:41

Hi

Another update from MrRigby relating to MrsRigby's wellbeing.

Sorry she's not been online, she was recently taken to hospital with a suspected blood clot on her lung (PE?). Hopefully she'll respond to treatment soon.

They did a scan of the baby earlier in the week - there was a heartbeat this time, which is a big relief to us both. Unfortunately she has since had a small amount of spotting though this could just be something that was dislodged during an internal. She's beong well looked after and monitored closely in hospital.

I told her about some of the new BFPs and she sends her congratulations. The rest of you ... don't give up trying.

Sorry for the late night post but I couldn't sleep and remembered I was supposed to update you all.

SamanthaB123 · 18/02/2010 06:30

Dear MrR Please pass on my well wishes to poor MrsR. I am so sorry the she is unwell and am thinking of her. I'm really glad to hear the the baby seems to be doing well. SB

littlemiss72 · 18/02/2010 07:55

Hi Girls, hope your all doing well, welcome to all the newbie however I'm sorry you have found yourselves here.

Muser No words other than I'm truly sorry for how your feeling right now. ((((HUGS)))))

Many thanks MrR for the update, please pass on my very best wishes for a speedy recovery! Good to hear the baby little one is doing well.

Many thanks for all your kind wishes, I promise not to turn into BrideZilla lol, nothing much to report, SWI still high on the list however DP is flying off to Singapore next week. Just out of the window OV time so I'm happy for a little peace and quite

Only on cycle #1 WTF after MMC so not holding out much hope this month, just nice to be getting back to normal so no pressure.

Work is piling up around me.. must dash and try and make an effort! Have a good day all. x

AlbaDeTamble · 18/02/2010 08:36

Can anyone help explain... After what seemed to be normal cycle signs I started bleeding last night (CD13) just like a period. Not stopped yet and have mild cramps. I think Dr said to call if any bleed after day 7 so I will, but I remember something like this happening for someone else (Liahgen, I think?) and wondered what was the outcome? Bit worried.
Thanks

Goodluckbear · 18/02/2010 09:37

Muser - big hugs. Thinking of you.

MrR - please say get well soon to MrsR from all of us, hope things go ok and glad she is being looked after. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Alba - I don't know about this - hope someone else does though? Let us know what the doc says, hope it's just something normal.

Big wave to everyone else and all newbies!! Sorry I've not done a decent namecheck....people at work are getting suspicious as I don't appear to be actually doing any work.

xxxxxxxxxx

AlbaDeTamble · 18/02/2010 09:47

Dr's secretary said it wouldn't be unusual for it to be a period, even this early ... she said she'll check with him and get back to me. So much for the super fertile first month.

AlbaDeTamble · 18/02/2010 10:05

I have to go for a scan at 1pm and then to see the consultant. I'm feeling really at having to go back to hospital again.

malteser1981 · 18/02/2010 10:11

Alba - what a disappointment, no experience so no help from me - sorry

I had an appointment with my GP this morning to get a sicknote for this week, and I've come away feeling so much better, she was so lovely and caring and didn't rush me out or look at me like a lun (and provided tissues). I wish every GP was like because what a difference it makes.

Cheepz · 18/02/2010 12:11

hello ladies, and newbies

adjusting to newly grad status is challenging, almost as much anxiety as before because after all the trying, willing it to stick and checking pants every five minutes gets you down

new worries other than the obcious ones about having a third mc include being made redundant when work find out, whether the scans will show everything to be in the right place and how to deal with my mood swings which are a combination of hormones and anxiety

wish for the first time with DS where not a care in the world

that being said feel incredibly grateful that am pregnant again and that it happened quickly after the 2nd mc in jan - in the wtf cycle - so it does happen, as oppose to the 6 months of waiting after the first mc.

alba - stellar job on list
mrr - thanks for update on mrsr - hope all is ok, much love
viv - monitor can give alot of highs before peak first month
muser - so sorry an enforced wait where you can do nothing is terrible
iced your experience sounds dreadful, sometimes the system really lets people down

mrsg what news what news
tigerbear see youu reaching the top of the list - any news

any other soon to be testers? Looking to be bumped off the bottom of the grads list soon please

tetleytea · 18/02/2010 12:34

muser sorry to hear what the verdict was

Alba horrible you have to go and face the hospital again. hope everything's ok.

AlbaDeTamble · 18/02/2010 15:06

Hmmm no answers. Just one of those things... Sonographer said everything looked fine, lining nice and thin (this is apparently a good thing) and follicle maturing in left ovary... nothing there that shouldn't be. Felt a bit better after seeing her...

Consultant told me there was a small cyst in my left ovary so which is it?

Said it could be start of a period if my hormones are very strong.... which I questioned... what did he mean, could I have some kind of hormonal imbalance? Progesterone deficiency etc? He says he thinks that's all rubbish, that the only reason to supplement hormones is after IVF as they muck around with your hormones anyway, and unlikely a progesterone deficiency would have caused mc as they stop supplementing at 10-12 weeks anyway. As for baby aspirin just in case for next time, he said that was also v unlikely I'd need and not to bother. Said I just need to be confident that everything will be fine. DH agrees with him -- but I'm afraid I find it really hard to be confident that everything will be fine just after miscarrying and then after mystery bleed. And now feel a bit mad to have the Dr and DH both telling me it's better just to be confident when I feel anything but. I would feel a whole lot happier to rule out all the what ifs rather than waiting to see (and maybe having the same thing happen all over again.... twice.... before anyone checks anything). . Just made it all the more annoying now having been told the bleeding is either just one of those things, possibly something left that was finally got rid of, or possibly an infection, take a prescription for anti-biotics and take them if persistent pain or bleeding. I just feel like I haven't a clue about anything any more. And now DH thinks I'm paranoid and I just want to cry.

hippychick66 · 18/02/2010 15:44

Alba I am so sorry to hear you are having more bleeding. I really hope it's just some residual bleeding. It's still early days.

I know what you mean. My DH is so sure that all be fine next time. I asked if he was sad and he said yes but he's looking forward to the next one all being ok - where does the confidence come from?

I'm convinced now that my womb lining was too thin to sustain the preg and that I should have done more to check that out. DH says we should just arm ourselves with all the info we can for next time, whilst I'm still beating myself up about last time!

If you feel like you want to cry then go ahead - you are entitled. I'm sure your hubbie doesn't think you're paranoid they just don't feel it like we do.

My consultant told me I had a cyst one week before I got my BFP and my GP said it was probably not a cyst at all but the corpus luteum???? It's so dificult isn't it cos we're at these bloody people's mercy.

Thinking of you and sending hugs and tissues.xx

just1moreplease · 18/02/2010 15:54

it doesnt look like i will ttc for a while ladies, so if someone wouldnt mind removing me from the list please.

cons appt today, looks like icsi is our only real option.

so frustrating as we have no problems in getting pg, i just cant stay pg.

dp's sperm quality is just so low he thinks they chances of us having a healthy pg on our own are less than 1%.

hope the rest of you have much better luck.

xx

VivClicquot · 18/02/2010 17:04

Hi Just1more - so sorry to hear your news isn't great. I wish you, your DH and your family lots of love.

Alba - I can't claim to have experienced exactly what you're going through, but after losing my second baby, I bled heavily for about a week, then stopped, then started again after a week, albeit much lighter. That was 'only' residual bleeding, so like hippy says, fingers crossed that's all it is in your case.

muser - I'm so sorry to hear it's not great news. I'm sending you lots of love and hope the next few days go as well as they can, physically speaking. x

Welcome to Iced, and sorry that you're here.

Cheepz - My sixth high on the CMFM today, but seem to be producing a bit more cm than in previous days so fingers crossed...
