Hi all, old and new, this is the thread where all moaning, pieces of tmi, discussions and virtual cups of tea and biscuits come together to keep us sane .. or at the least insane together!

OP posts:
Cheepz · 16/01/2010 00:51

mrsr thank you - that made me laugh out loud - for the first time in a while!! think it must be a combo of your jesus sci fi heart failure nurse description and the fact you had an arguement during sex, not before and then still had it, not after, but during - thats something, and when ttc there is no option but to carry on right!

at least you are ovulating .. yay

Goodluckbear · 16/01/2010 13:42

Hiya guys - thanks for the nice welcome - MrsR, that sounds like a hell of a first day, hope next week goes ok and you get to meet Jesus guy himself.

I think we may start trying, we're waiting another week or so first though.

Can I just check I know what the acronyms are? I think I've got some right:

TTC = trying to conceive (in my case, we're trying for our first)

UCL = usual cycle length? (if so, it used to be 28 days!)

Cycle = err, is this number of cycles since miscarrying? I won't spell out WTF, I've got that pinned down right now....

CD? = ok, I figure this must be cycle day (counting from first day of last period) - I guess I'll know this when I have a period!

I think I can work out the others from the context....not sure what BD stands for, but pretty sure what you're talking about

xxxxxxx

thefatladyscreams · 16/01/2010 16:20

Hi all

Love the opening summary Lee! This thread really seems to be building momentum.

Day 25 here for me. Been feeling so lousy (chest infection) and dog needs an operation next week (lumps look like cancer ) that I haven't given the 2ww any thought at all. Guess I really don't think I'm in with a shot this month.

SamB and Sarahmumtoalex- I don't think the new year blues help at the moment. Hope you're both feeling a bit better my dears.

MrsR - I'm sorry you had such a lousy day back at work but thank you for sharing it. Sorry - but your style of writing had me chortling away at times. A little bit of MrsR as a NHS tonic . Good news re the ovulation and even better news that the argument didn't stop you two BDing!

Welcome goodluckbear - I think BD is some awful Mumsnet abbreviation for "baby dancing". Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It always feels like a very un-mumsnet expression..... but hey. I'm so impressed that you read through all our threads and still wanted to join us - that old chestnut of "you don't have to be mad to work here but it helps" springs to mind! Sorry to hear about your m/c. I joined this thread when I was in the throws of mine and it was a lifesaver.

Hope you got that lie in louisesh.

Tigerbear - I always find a BFN on a CB Digital a real wind up because I end up cross with myself that I've wasted the money. But hey, I still stick to them! Devil and the dark blue sea I guess - as the alternative seems to be squinting madly at lines trying to convince yourself what they say

Hoops - lovely to have you pop back. Blimey April is not that long away.

Big wooo hoooo for your numbers Boodle - really sounds like the risk of an EP is gone (but I'll keep my fingers crossed all the time anyway!)

at your journalist VivC - bit of a bummer when you've had such a long journey.

Cheepz - you sound in really good shape sweetie. Your GP sounds nice and there is a lot of reassuring info in what he/she said. I came across this link earlier:

Diet to improve fertility

I really need to get back on my diet and will be trying to include some of this. I've also got some info I can dig out on what Traditional Chinese Medicine says you should eat in the two stages of your cycle if you're interested.

Go easy on the caffeine cut down - you've had a hell of a lot on your plate so maybe the odd expresso would be allowed??

Had loads of rain here - bit of a shock to see our lawn at last! Hope everyone has a good weekend. DH is away so feeling a bit misog on my own. Will be me and fido in front of the fire with the chocolate tonight (what was I saying about diet???)

Sarahlou8 · 16/01/2010 17:16

Hi all,

It was lovely to be waving at everyone at the top of the list but it's time to climb down to the bottom now.
Another BFN this morning on and AF looks like she is appearing. Give it another hour...

SB I have a 9 yrs old DS so slightly different, but he is always asking to join some internet 'club' or another, latest ones are Moshi Monsters and Club Penguin. Great fun for girls too, and may solve a problem if she doesn't want anything material. Or what about a pantomime or play?
Hope you are feeling better. I am aware I was following up right behind you, feeling your excitement, and now I feel really down too.

On the plus side, a 29 day cycle this time, so seem to be getting back to normal. (WTF cycle was 32 days)

Good luck for those of you now at the top, fingers crossed for you xx

boodleboot · 16/01/2010 17:20

ah, want to post lots but jsut can't....feeling rough as arseholes today......which is a GOOD THING clearly but wow, woke up at five feeling sick and has continued all day long, plus the headaches....ooh someone pass me the pity pot ha....

VivClicquot · 16/01/2010 17:34

Hiya everyone and welcome to goodluckbear.

Please feel free to not read the following
rant. It's an entirely selfish exercise designed as a means of telling myself to stop being so bloody pathetic!

So I wish I'd never bloody well bought that Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test (Sorry MrsR!). D15 and still no smiley face, despite testing twice a day since D12. However, rather than think this cycle maybe anovulatory, I'm now wondering whether I ov'd early either on D10 or 11. My reasons being are as follows:

  1. Last week, I ended up in hospital having a scan to check there was nothing remaining after we lost Gracie, as I passed a large mass of what can only be described as a placenta-like stuff. Scan was clear, no worries there. However, the sonographer said my uterus was showing a thickness that was roughly in line with being a third of my way through the cycle. However, I was only on day 6.

  2. When I did the first CB Digi test on Monday (Day 10), there were definitely two lines on the test strip when I ejected it from the holder, but obv it wasn't enough to trigger the smiley face. Over the course of the week, the second line has gotten fainter and fainter and when I POAS this morning, I only got one line.

So if the second line was there on Mon morning, could that mean Monday was d-day? Who bloody knows. What I DO know, however, is that if I have ov'd early, I don't think me and DH have been busy at the right time. Goddammit.

As an aside, I've spent most of Weds, Thurs and Friday feeling really sick - and even that is doing my head in as that can't be anything pg-related.

Aaarrrggh! See, now I've written it all down, I sound ever-so-slightly unhinged. I'm an effing muppet, I swear...

Viv you've just put me right off the CB monitor! Am still technically on a WTF cycle (although I'm counting it as a normal cycle as MC was so early I don't see it throwing things off much), but if I don't get a BFP this cycle or next, I think I might be tempted.

Have only had 2 unprotected months ever, and have fallen PG both times, so am desperately hoping that at the very least I fall PG easily. Back home on Tue, so will be going with BDing every other day from then until I am well past ovulating I think. (DP will be thrilled!)

Have just realised I'm on the stats list twice, so just updated it:

VivClicquot · 16/01/2010 20:50

Hopefully - I'm not on the Monitor - just the predictor kits you get in Boots. Like you, the two occasions I got pregnant were at the first time of trying - last month was the first time I'd actively tried and it not worked, which is why I caved and went for the stick! Blasted thing....

Cheepz · 16/01/2010 23:12

hi all

quick update as am abit shattered - had a wedding today and had to leave early as was tiring standing around, got really drained, also pretty uncomfortable and hard to be chipper and chatty when you are in the middle of having an mc!

Had to spend some considerable amount of time talking to one friend who is 28 weeks, there was another woman who must be 35 weeks and the bride is 12 weeks!! But I was able to talk to my closer friends there openly about the mc without crying or feeling embarassed, it was easy to articulate and actually cathartic not to have it be some big ugly secret or something where I had some sense of failing because I had not been able to convert getting pregnant into a sucessful pregnancy - which is kind of how I felt last time. I am feeling like we should try not to ttc this month but am not moving to the wttc because I would rather see how I feel as the cycle progresses.

Emotionally I am in a much better place than last time. Time, knowledge and experience are wondeful things!

Bleeding is just starting to get lighter and less 'clotty'. Mild backache remains but no real crampping, hormone headaches seems to be the big thing this time that is different from last time.

viv sounds like you are having a nightmare with this stuff and the sticks, I use the monitor because its abit simpler

hopefully monitor works by testing you on a series of days in a row each month and give you an indication of days with high chance and peak chances. I think its great, but I know it doesn't work for everyone, but the more cycles you do the more accurate it gets so for someone who seems to use several cycles its definitely worth it

tfls thanks for the link - its always useful to get info you can act on, and doctor was wonderfully reassuring, she was older lady with kids so she was more empathic than I have found some male doctors to be.

sarahlou sorry AF got you, another cycle another chance!

zayja · 17/01/2010 00:23

Oh cheepz, I'm sorry I didn't realize and acknowledge you had a mc, I totally checked out for the last of our old thread. Hope you are ok, that's so hard. I'll be thinking of you - hoping it gets better.

LeeWT · 17/01/2010 00:41

hi all

cheepz well done for getting through wedding and all the preggers women.. i know how hard that is.. youve done great to keep your head together throughout all this..

i am sitting here waiting for DH to return from a night of drinking. he doesnt go out or drink often but when he does, he has absolutely no stop button. he will spend tomorrow puking and sleeping and will only come to at about 10pm .. WHY cant he just go out for a few pints?!?!?! i wouldnt mind if he did it every week if he took it easy!

rant over.. will be cd34 tomor. no af. no bfp. still confused.. maybe the cramps on cd23 were late ovulation and my af isnt due until 14 days after that so cd37? guessing now and thinking about it too much!

hope youre all having a good weekend glad everyone has found us so far xxx

CD9, woopeee! (not in anyway wishing away this cycle, but know that it will probably be a funny one due to MC, so just kind of want to get on with things).

The 2 weeks before the 2ww are very dull in terms of having nothing to think about, aren't they?! Am looking forward to getting home and getting back to normal routine, but not looking forward to 6 hour drive home from Lincolnshire tomorrow.

Thanks for the fertility monitor summary Cheepz - maybe I'll think about it if we aren't successful in the next couple of months.

LeeWT · 17/01/2010 17:08

HELP!!! I have obsessive POAS syndrome!

I am now on cd34, no af, no bfp. got it into my head that maybe the cramps on cd23 were late ovulation and that the cramps on cd30-32 were implantation. even if that were true, then the first response that i splashed good cash on today would have given even a faint line - nothing - BFN!

If there's not going to be a bfp then can i have my af please..

feeling very low as had massive argument with DH and have asked him to stay at his dads for a couple of days.. finding it difficult that my first lost babys due date has been and gone so i should have a little bundle.. but DD is pulling me through.

sorry for moaning everyone but i feel like ive no one to talk to at the minute..

lee...remember that you are not out UNTIL you are out....i know its so difficult and i have no idea where your period is but you don't need me to tell you that this is not an exact science.....i feel your pain hun, sounds like you are the same sort of state i got myself in with early Dec testathon.....its is so difficult when you want just to be preg again but it WILL happen and Ella is an adorable little girl who needs her mummy to be upbeat and positive cos they pick up on all that stuff...i recommend a nice big glass of your favourite wine and a dvd on the sofa with her.....

LeeWT · 17/01/2010 17:37

boodle have just settled in on the couch to watch cinderella, our favourite movie.. will have glass of vino when she goes to bed..

youve said just the right thing. thanks.

just as ive gotten a bfn and im trying to tell myself to get real, i stood up from the couch and had to double over with a kind of a pain in my side like a stitch when i move too quickly. this has only ever happened when im preg. it has happened all three times before.. the last time it was how i knew i was preg.. so now im thinking my body is trying to trick me and that its my head making af stay away.

god how did i decline into psychosis in such a short frame of time!? can somebody come up with some sort of alternative drama to distract me?
