Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

Hi Wildfig, I remember too, but then I should, as we're the same age . Glad it's not just me only just hearing the ringing

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 20:51

puppies definitly help! By the time they realize how much they love that baby they will want one of there own! Welcome!

I am in a strop for no reason and my DH is working away (god knows how I'm going to make a bABy on my own!) I have no one to cheer me up and have really bad chocolate cravings and all I can find are bloody apples why did I decide I wanted to diet when we went shopping why oh why would I do that?!?!?!

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 20:51

Hey Wildfig and welcome to you too!!

Don't worry, I'm 34, got married in April and TTC for number one. BSL also on this thread is the same.

We have got some youngsters (little pip-squeeks) and us old ones are THOROUGHLY JEALOUS of them!!

But you'll be glad to know that none of us have a clue what we're doing really and we're all finding out together.

I think I got the first BFP about 3 weeks ago but unfortunately had a MC last weekend (already seems like a lifetime ago), so getting back down to it this weekend and trying again!

Welcome again!

Crunchy - we don't care about the typos! It's your company that's important!!

Dawn - yep that was the thread! I didn't blame that woman's husband either...I was so shocked I made DH read the thread.

Anyhow, I'll second the Condoms Off chant!

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 20:54

I have no idea what you are talking about but you are making me laugh anyway so THANK YOU!

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 20:54

Oh Crunchy, there's nothing worse than cravings when there's no chance of them being fixed!! What an arse!!

Don't be in a bad mood, or I'll start quizzing you on 80s kids game shows and you won't know the answers!!

EEK, the very second I posted that I realised it was probably a bit rude! I didn't mean to be, honest. (not good start. Sorry.) Will keep quite about my very vague memories of Ed Stewart. I also typed DH then remembered that we're not actually married, despite having been together for ever, but somehow that turned into DHP - Dear House Purchaser, maybe?

We're getting a basset hound, which is probably v good training for a baby, what with the toilet training and the cuteness and the night time howling. Obviously the dressing up possibiities are more limited.

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 20:57

ohh yeah! condoms off! Condoms off! hehe takes me back to my cheer leading days LOL (that would be when I refused to do PE in the cold and just cheered the others on LOL)

BSL I feel all loved and cuddly now thanks again! Xx

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 20:57

Anyway ladies,

Sorry to love you and leave you so early but I have to get my fix of Paul Nicholls in Harley Street at 9pm and need to grab a cuppa first!!

By the way, still haven't used all our wedding vouchers so the other day, bought ourselves one of those Tefal One Cup things that heats water in 3 seconds. Fab!!

LOL the puppy will be great-my baby(labrador!) had 3hourly toilet breaks for the first month throughout the night to help us train him! Just like baby feeds and we took it in turns so I know by DH will be good with the human babies LOL xx

dawn carvings are horrible! Don't know if it's cos I'm on my own or pmt not even my crunchy nuts have helped! Shocking! Xx

bluestarlavender · 07/08/2008 21:04

Wildfig - I had to read your post several times to get what was rude...but finally I'm there...see, no offence taken, cos I'm too clueless to realise it could seem rude
And a bassett hound sounds lovely...when is he/she arriving?

Crunchy - I hate that craving feeling!! I got it last night, so went to bed and read for the evening. Took myself off to stock up on a few treats today though!

I have to say I like seeing Cheggers on GMTV nowadays. It's kinda nice...so do any of you guys remember Bod?? I used to love that TV show when I was little. My sis is 3.5 years younger than and has no recollection.

Night night,

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 21:07

I am going to read my book! BSL you are a genious! I shall be back tomorrow in a lovely cheerful earth Mother mood LOL sweetdreams ladies! Xx

wildfig · 07/08/2008 21:09

I have warned DP that training the puppy will be just like baby care - he's quite keen on the idea of doing most of the childcare, but I suspect that his vision is based on a mental image of walking round the park with a baby sling and/or teaching a small boy to play cricket. Think a bit of 3am weeing mightn't be such a bad thing! Labradors are soooo adorable, with their lovely eyes. Did the house training take a long time?

CrushaGrape · 07/08/2008 21:13

Thank you all for the welcome!

I'm very pleased to be here whilst planning a little raisin of my own. I just want to get cracking straight away, now that we've made up our minds to go for it!

Oohhh Wildfig, a Bassett Hound puppy will be gorgeous - I loved Fred Bassett when I was a little 'un. In place on canine cuteness, I've been honing my caring skills on the niece my sister was considerate enough to provide me with earlier this year...other people's lovely babies certainly make the reproductive instinct kick in (especially when I can see a family resemblance in her little dimply face).

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 21:34

my lab is fantastiC and to be honest has alwaYs been very good-he didn't take long to house train at all but be loves to e clean so maybe that helped! We nearly got him a little beagle brother but decided on trying for a baby instead! You will have to but some puppy pictures on here! Xx

eth37 · 07/08/2008 21:44

Welcome, crushagrape and wildfig - excellent names!!
Deffo the nicest thread (am I biased?!) everyone is lovely on here.

CrunchY I hope the cravings have been satisfied?!?! DH pisses himself at me quite often when I literally have to go to Somerfield for Maltesers or I will die.... Nothing worse...

Summerbird - hope you are having fun at the pub?? (and have fun later on )

Dawn - hope you are having fun with Paul Nichols... Does anyone remember when he was in 'Fame'? OR is that just me....

Can I ask wildfig, where are you getting a Bassett Hound from? They are sooooo cute. Do you know a breeder? Just curious. We are thinking of getting a cat after our summer holidays, but can't decide whether it is a good idea if we are ttc etc? Just worried the cat would scratch the baby... Any opinions??

TTFN

wildfig · 07/08/2008 21:58

Don't know about cats and babies - I think my cat/baby vs dog/baby prejudices are based entirely on watching Lady and the Tramp at an early age! We're getting our puppy from a breeder - DH has wanted a basset hound for ages, so we did loads of research into different dogs, went to Crufts, looked at the various dogs, talked to experts, etc. They're quite prone to genetic problems, and unscrupulous puppy farmers. If he hadn't been so set on a Basset, I'd have just gone to Battersea Dogs Home and given a sad pup a new home. Maybe next time, if we don't get lucky with a human baby.

It's so nice to be on a thread where everyone's in the same boat. I feel like I can't go on about TTC too much in Real Life - it's weird how people feel they can make all sorts of assumptions about you/your relationship/your 'career plans' based on whether or not you've had a baby yet! Also, whenever anyone tells me they're 'trying', I get an instant mental picture of them doing headstands in bed with a thermometer - not sure I really want to inflict that one anyone I know.

eth37 · 07/08/2008 22:04

wildfig I know exactly what you mean about the headstand image!! No-one in Real Life knows we are TTC either (obviously DH has some idea...) and I certainly don't go on about it to him as much as I do on here!! It's definitely a useful outlet!!

CrushaGrape · 07/08/2008 22:26

Talking about TTC in real life is tricky; even though the people one would tell are friends who obviously really care and would be happy and excited for you, I feel it might add a bit of pressure. It also means that when you HAVE conceived, being unsure whether to lie to them until the all clear first scan.

Am pleased to have found this board as a way to discuss and (if necessary) vent in the forthcoming months, so I don't drive my partner nuts. DP is a bit more laid back than me, and is of the opinion that it'll happen when it happens - little does he know I am surreptitiously planning ways to sneak extra zinc into his food to get his swimmers up to Olympic standard...

heverhoney1 · 07/08/2008 22:36

ok gonna make you all laugh now!!

Last night DP and I were BDing and just at the vital moment he had severe pain "like someone with nails grabbing it" apparently and "IT" has been sore ever since and he is now wary of a repeat performance even though I am ov'ing

No Idea what happened, hasnt happened in the last 7 years we have been together, but now I have images of aliens with nails!!! or Super duper strong pelvic floor muscles!!!!

Any suggestions on coaxing him back to the bding sooner rather than later welcome.

heverhoney1 · 07/08/2008 22:40

PS NEWBIES if you hadnt guessed TMI doesnt exist on here. Yet I even thinking of it in RL!!

wildfig · 07/08/2008 23:36

He hasn't been to see 'Teeth', has he?!

Bonifacio · 08/08/2008 05:31

Ahh good morning ladies, I have missed so much! Damn time zones!!

I cant remember who said what, I usually write it down so I have some idea but I forgot today!! So whoever asked where else I have lived no where, Budapest and here, though after we have been here around another year we may hopefully be moving to NYC wooohoooo DP has already lived there once before me and loved it and we went to visit last year and its just the most amazing city in the whole world!! And how great would it be to have a baby there!! So much to do!!

Dawn your cakes were GORGEOUS I can't wait to get married one day!! DP is very sneaky and claims he wants to suprise me when I am least expecting it (I have visions of him proposing while i'm on the toliet lol!!) I already have my dress picked out, though they prob won't make it anymore by the time DP gets round to it!!

Saz you looked beautiful

Welcome to the New ladies crushagrape and wildfig I would be one of the pipsqueaks that Dawn mentioned!! This really is one of the nicest threads, everyone is lovely!!

So I have just realised that when we are on holiday at the end of the month I will be OV'ing (I know i'm not supposed to be looking but I couldn't help myself )
So if we conceive what do you think of calling the baby Oman or Muscat a'la the beckhams

I went out last night and after a few too many G&T's I succumed to the cigarettes again I can't seem to curb my cravings when I have a drink. I am going to have to try harder!!
