Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

my mother cut all my hair off when i was little so i always looked like a boy - then i grew it into a mullet (not intentionally) when i was 12 and have never had the patience to grow it past my shoulders ever since!! i too love GHDs - and agree with BSL i just sooo wish we had them in the 80s!

mmmm cakes - even better - TWO cakes Dawn!!

makingafamily · 07/08/2008 16:13

Thanks for all the advice and i will really take that onboard. My best mate said something similar.

My dress is a Black and White Prom dress, not quite traditional but we're not a very traditional family lol. We're getting married in Hackney and really hope the sunshines for us

makingafamily · 07/08/2008 16:14

WOW Saz, more lovely wedding pics. You lot are starting to make me want a bit white gown now!

FlirtyThirty · 07/08/2008 17:16

Question for experienced temp-charters...just how much of a temperature rise do you see when you are PG?

Flirty x

summerbird · 07/08/2008 17:20

any reason for this tentative question flirty ?!?

FlirtyThirty · 07/08/2008 17:24

Thought I was being suitable vague summerbird! Now I realy genuinely don't think I'm PG...but it is fair to say that my temp this morning was higher than it's ever been. Not massively, but a distinct rise. Now it could just be one of those things, so I just took it now, which I know is not basal, and it's up again...
Probably nothing at all, but it got me thinking, how will I know what qualifies as a 'sustained thermal shift'...

If I know how to post my chart I would...
it'll likely be back down tomorrow though. I'm not sad any more though...if I get PG next cycle, I'll knwo for DH's birthday which would be sweet in itself!

FlirtyThirty · 07/08/2008 17:25

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 17:35

Ohhhhh I want to BD too!! Maybe we should go for it anyway - spotting or no spotting....

I mentioned it to DH yesterday and his comment was "Well, I won't know, the lights will be off!" PMSL!!

Typical man - although I think he's more keen for me to get PG again now than I am - and that's saying something!! This from the guy that was always going to be a great Uncle but never wanted to be a Dad!!

xx

PS: Hope all you gorgeous girls are doing Ok today!!

bluestarlavender · 07/08/2008 18:25

Hey Flirty,

If you're using FF then you need to create a homepage and you can post your chart using the link to your homepage.

WRT temp rises, basically on the day of, or on the after OV your temp should go up from before OV. So, an example chart would look like: from AF to OV you might have a range of temps anywhere from 36.1 to 36.5, then after OV it should rise to 36.7 - 37.01. (the figures are just an example of the rise), then if you remain high = PG, if temp drops back to between e.g. 36.1 to 36.5 then you probably aren't and AF is imminent. Does that make sense...???

Saz - Pics are fab!

ooo DH is taking me to the pub! i have informed him that it is his lucky night and he has that extra little bit of a spring in his step!!! ok TMI i am off now! x

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 19:32

Do you know, I'm glad that we're all so nice on here!!

I was just being nosy and looked at another thread, where a girl had mentioned that she was 36 and got PG with her first DD on the 1st month and the same with the PG she has now and everyone really laid into her saying that she was cruel and insensitive. She only came on to ask if it was rare?! Poor thing.

Maybe I'm oversensitive (or naive) but I really felt for her. The thing with TTC, is that it's not about ability, you can't be "better" at it than someone else, it's just luck. The girls were really nasty and I just wanted to reach out and say "Well done you!". We'd all love to be in that situation, but unfortunately it doesn't happen for everyone. I would be as pleased for someone who got PG straight away as I would for someone that had taken two years.

Do I sound silly? I just think that everyone has the right to a "Congratulations" if they make it...

Maybe I'm just in a soppy mood....

I agree dawn-that's why I was a lurked until I found this thread LOL some people are really nasty on here! The first time I put a post ok somewhere I got told off for grammar or a spelling mistake or something minor and thought I could do without it so just lurked hoping I'd get some advice!

I love your cakes dawn! The wedding looks fantastic! I have tried to make a suggestion for the book club on the other thread by the wAy! Don't know what people think about it though! Xx

bluestarlavender · 07/08/2008 19:54

I totally agree with you, Dawn and Crunchy!!

I saw that thread yesterday, but didn't see all the posts til you mentioned it, Dawn!! What's wrong with people??

There was another one a while back about a lady being refused clomid/treatment after her doctor has referred her to a fertility consultant. Some of the posts got quite nasty, and not just towards the original poster. One woman's husband came on to say how much someone had upset his wife...thank goodness we all just want the best for each other here!!!

Crunchy - just re-read your message...are you serious?? Someone actually corrected your grammar/spelling?? Have people got nothing better to do with their time!! Actually I don't know why I am surprised, I saw someone had done it on the thread Dawn was talking about!!

Hello all TTCers. I'm a newbie, and have been lurking most of the afternoon trying to decide where to post first...this seems like a good place to start!

My partner and I decided last week that after almost a year of discussing when to start trying and whether to move and blahblahblah thisthatandtheother, that we're as ready as we'll ever be and are going to stop using contraception in a month. This makes me very excited, and just a wee bit scared...but scared in a good way.

So, we'll have a visit to the GUM clinic next week just to ensure neither of us are carrying anything undesirable, then it's in with the folic acid and off with the condoms. I can't wait!

bluestarlavender · 07/08/2008 19:59

Welcome Crushagrape!!

Great news and this is a great thread to be on!

crunchynutter · 07/08/2008 20:12

I was really upset-I mustve Mentioned teaching (as that did put me off TTC. For a bit) and they said zething horrible about the state of teachers! Believe me if I was writing by hand there would be less errors (probably lol!) I wouldn't post Again! This is a lovely thread though!

So-question! If I do go to the doctors to discuss TTC will he refer me for fertility tests and GUM clinic like others have had? It scares me a little as if never had to have a smear test cos I'm too young so you don't rEally k ow what's going on inside do you?

Welcome to the thread by the way-you won't have any nasty people on here don't worry! Xx

makingafamily · 07/08/2008 20:33

As a newbie i would like to say to all other newbies this a lovely thread

DawnAS · 07/08/2008 20:42

CrushaGrape - - what a fab name!! I can hear the guy saying it now!! (I can't remember what he was called though - OMG am I the only one that can remember him?!)

Welcome!!

You've definitely come to the right place!! Come on girls, let's encourage her...

Condoms off, condoms off, condoms off!!! BSL, I saw that thread too, wasn't that the one where she'd been refused because of her weight and everyone started really going at her and another girl that had defended her. I think it was the girl that had helped her whose husband came on line - he wasn't very happy at all was he?! Can't say I blame him though!!

Welcome crushagrape the good thing about this thread is that it seems everyone has the same fears and problems!! It makes you feel more "Normal". Get a going with that Folic acid and good luck XXXXXX

wildfig · 07/08/2008 20:43

Hello! Can I leap on here too? I've been lurking generally, having been a bit awed by the old hands trying for number 4 on other threads - but everyone here is so friendly!

I'm 34 and have only just realised that the ringing in my ears was in fact my biological clock and not the after-effect of a grunge adolescence. DHP is 36, and is stepping slowly towards the idea of parenthood by getting a puppy. Hmm.

wildfig · 07/08/2008 20:44

Stu Francis. (puts head in hands. Adds Old Age vitamins to Folic Acid)
