I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I’m about to go into cycle 8 TTC, baby #3. I’m 32 and bf is 29. First was a happy surprise and second was first cycle - so i’m struggling with this to say the least 😓 Hope it happens for you soon xxx

We've been ttc#2 since December 21, unfortunately had an ectopic pregnancy in June 22 and lost my left tube. And nothing since then, still trying... should be about 10dpo and it was another stark negative today. Wishing everyone all the best ❤️

emmatcc1 · 29/04/2024 19:24

We’ve been ttc since October 22, I fell in December 23 but miscarried in February. I’m currently 7 dpo.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I remember your name from some of the other threads a few months back. Sending you hugs 🤗

Cycle 12 for me! TTC number 2 - DS took 4 or 5 months so it's been frustrating when it didn't go so easy second time. I'm 39 though.

snorlax99 · 29/04/2024 20:34

We started trying to concieve in September. We have a few months "off" for various reasons, so this is the first month we have tried again properly. It took over 4 years for us to concieve our first child, so I am not anticipating a BFP soon (keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best though)

Hello
I’d love to join. Finding it so hard being on threads and seeing people get that second line after only a few months. Happy for them but sad for me!
Im 34, ttc #2. I’m now on cycle 9 of trying 😞
miscarriage at the end of last summer and not a single thing since.
im CD 9 and every month my hope gets less and less.
Wishing everyone the best and lots of luck, and sending love to everyone who has suffered from loss 🌷

emmatcc1 · 29/04/2024 20:48

@Favofit I remember your name too. So sorry to hear about your loss as well.
We got about 7 years to fulfill our wish to have 3 kids and seeing now that I’m still not even pregnant after 18 months it’s making me kinda anxious.

Really sorry to hear that, I’m around the same cycle time as you and BFN as usual. People often say “you’re not out til AF shows” but I have a relatively short luteal phase so due on Wednesday and I can just feel in my body it hasn’t happened this month.

I'm TTC #2, we're on our 11th cycle. The waiting sucks, I've actually been pretty down about it for the last couple of months. Our DD took 6 cycles but then I fell pregnant accidentally this time last year which was ectopic - the only thing getting me through that time was thinking I'll be pregnant again soon, but it hasn't happened. Had fertility testing and other than being old (38) and missing a tube there's nothing wrong with us.

Trying acupuncture next month. Fertility clinic suggested trying naturally for another 6 months then move on to IVF, so giving it everything I can in the meantime.

Confusedddddddd · 29/04/2024 21:01

@Favofit have you had your remaining tube tested?

I had mine this month, it's open but was surprised they said the stump of the one they removed is also open!

I hear you. I’ve had to come off those threads to be honest as I’m finding it really difficult 💐. That’s why I wanted to start this one as more of a safe space to vent etc.

@YaWeeFurryBastard I'm the same with my DD I tested positive at 8 dpo, usually if it still negative at 9dpo I know I'm out. LP is 10-11 days.

I totally get the “I’ll be pregnant soon” thing. I remember having so much angst about how I was going to manage all these family events I’ve had this year without people finding out before my 12 week scan 😂 how naive of me!

Thank you. I've got a friend who took 18 months to conceive her first. After her first turned 3 they started ttc again and it took them 3months, she couldn't believe it. I genuinely think time is on your side ❤️

Favofit · 29/04/2024 21:42

@YaWeeFurryBastard I am desperately trying to stay optimistic but it's hard. I think AF is due this Sunday but Premom reckons AF due this Friday. I've bought some boots early detection and might test again on Wednesday. When are you testing ? ❤️

@Confusedddddddd I didn't know that was an option. Can I just request this from GP or is this down privately? ❤️

RRAEE · 29/04/2024 21:52

Hello, can i join currently on cycle 5 of trying properly, TTC no 1, we haven't prevented in over a year now either. I'm 31 DP is 33 some times i feel like it wont happen for us and its hard to keep getting my hopes up every month for AF to show. Last cycle i thought i was going to get my BFP as was over 8 days late but turned out to just be an off cycle and AF finally showed which was very disappointing. It's even harder when everyone around you is announcing.

Ive took a step back this month from all the stressful things like LH testing and some of the threads as it gets a lot. We are just covering as much of the cycle as we can this month and hoping for the best. Hopefully it works out.

Good luck to everyone here. ✨

Shortcake06 · 29/04/2024 21:53

@Confusedddddddd snap, our first tool 6 cycles to conceive and that felt like ages. I was only 29 then so I guess it’s going to take longer now 😔 I also have a shorter luteal phase. 10-12 days, average 11 days. So if I was 13 dpo I’d be late for my period!!! My miscarriage last year was also a complete accident but it changed everything.
@YaWeeFurryBastard love the user name! Yes it’s no hate to those threads, the people are lovely but it’s hard to hear people saying they are stressed after trying for one month 😭 totally relate to the “I’ll be pregnant soon” chat, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d pass the due date of my miscarriage and not be pregnant but here we are.

We will never be able to have IVF as there is no way we would afford it. Is any fertility support available on the NHS for your second child?

Shortcake06 · 29/04/2024 21:55

@RRAEE the late period must have been so stressful 😔 but just to say… with my first I was in the same boat. Going into month 6 I stopped the OPKs and spent my savings on a holiday. That was my month and I am beyond lucky to have my amazing 4 year old. Good luck and I so hope it’s positive x

RRAEE · 29/04/2024 22:10

@Shortcake06 the more it dragged on the worse it got but in the end was just happy af showed so could move on to this cycle and thats what weve decided if it hasnt happened in the next few months we will just have a week away somewhere.

Thank you 💕 and i wish you luck for no.2

Confusedddddddd · 29/04/2024 22:30

@Favofit I went private as NHS gynae wanted us to try for at least a year as the test was meant to be "invasive" (it wasn't pleasant but I wouldn't class it as invasive!). It cost £500 and included AMH and sperm testing and a consultant appt.
I was worried we were wasting time if my remaining tube was blocked or there were any other issues, so was reassuring to hear there was nothing wrong, though I have no answers as to why it's not happening.

Confusedddddddd · 29/04/2024 22:32

@Shortcake06 yay snap! The age thing is basically why I was told it's taking longer this time :(

UserL95 · 30/04/2024 00:07

Hi everyone 👋 I’m ttc#1 since Dec21 and never had a whiff of a positive 😢

Favofit · 30/04/2024 06:00

@Confusedddddddd thank you for this, I will certainly look into it. Can I ask roughly which part of the country you had the tests done ?

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 06:16

Hi everyone 👋 I’m ttc#1 since Dec21 and never had a whiff of a positive 😢

Sorry to hear this ☹️ it’s really hard.

Has anyone had any further testing or plans to get any?

DH has done a home sperm test which came back ok but we’re paying for a full hormone panel for me and a lab test for him this month so we’ll see.
