I just wanted to start a thread for those who’ve been trying for a little while (or a long while) and it doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s great seeing all the positives on the TTC threads but I’m starting to find it a little disheartening as it seems to be happening quickly for almost everyone but me! Statistics seem to vary but suggest between 60-70% of couples get pregnant within three months. We’ll be heading into cycle 5 shortly TTC our first, both in our early 30s.

Is anyone else in a similar situation?

@Shortcake06 see also the “is this a positive” threads where they have a big thick line, I find them irrationally infuriating 😂. YES we can all see it’s a positive and I bloody wish I had a test like that!!

@UserL95 that is a long time, so sorry to hear this. Have you had any fertility tests done yet ?

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 06:20

Favofit · 29/04/2024 21:42

@YaWeeFurryBastard I am desperately trying to stay optimistic but it's hard. I think AF is due this Sunday but Premom reckons AF due this Friday. I've bought some boots early detection and might test again on Wednesday. When are you testing ? ❤️

@Confusedddddddd I didn't know that was an option. Can I just request this from GP or is this down privately? ❤️

I’m not planning on testing again this cycle as I’m finding it too upsetting just seeing blank white spaces. If my period hasn’t arrived by Friday I’ll test then as due Wednesday.

Next cycle I’m going to try not to test until Saturday 25th because I’m going out for a meal/drinks that day. How about you?

@Shortcake06 with fertility treatment for second child we were told we could pay via NHS, it's only a little cheaper than private clinics though.

Shortcake06 · 30/04/2024 09:53

@YaWeeFurryBastard oh don’t! I don’t mind the ones where it’s super faint but some should just be honest and say “come and look at my very positive pregnancy test”.
@Favofit will they do any investigations at all for your second? I know we couldn’t get IVF but bloods/ scans etc?

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 10:20

Is anyone taking any other vitamins/supplements than the usual pregnacare? It’s an absolute minefield I have no idea what I should be taking!

We had investigations done, blood tests, SA, AFC screening at the fertility clinic under the NHS. But the actual treatments we were told we would have to pay for.

@YaWeeFurryBastard i take vit D, vit C, iron, zinc, cod liver oil, a-z multi vitamins, vit B complex, calcium & magnesium and then just some hair vitamins. I take all these anyway even when not TTC.

I have added folic acid since TTC.

Wow are those all separate pills or combined? Maybe I need to up my game!

RRAEE · 30/04/2024 14:28

@YaWeeFurryBastard all separate. I suffer with low iron and b12 deficiency so take those just to keep levels steady but always took everything else along side it. For me i just feel better for taking them added the folic acid for TTC els wouldn't normally take it.

emmatcc1 · 30/04/2024 14:37

I used to take vitamin b supplements that also had folic acid but the taste was so bad that I stopped taking them. I still have some prenatals left to start taking them as soon as I find out I’m pregnant again.

Catillac · 30/04/2024 14:43

Hi ladies, I'd like to join you all if that's okay? I've been TTC for my first for 10 months now. Currently on cycle 10 at 7DPO. I'm age 36(was 35 when I started TTC) and my husband is 32. Had all my bloods done and all okay, AMH higher than average for my age. Still no luck, I've never been pregnant.

Here is hoping this is the cycle. Fingers crossed for you all.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 14:45

@Catillac welcome and sorry you find yourself here, I hope it happens for you soon ✨

kalixxx · 30/04/2024 16:00

Hey, can I join!

I’m 27 and OH is 28, we’ve been TTC #1 since December 2022, I’ve lost count of how many cycles it’s been now🥲

I’ve had initial testing and all is looking fine for me. I actually fell pregnant at 19 with my boyfriend at the time, which ended in an EMC. This was the one and only time it was unprotected so you can imagine that I thought it would happen a lot sooner than this! OH is booked to have analysis in June so it’s just a waiting game for now.

I go through stages of losing hope and being confident continuously!

Shortcake06 · 30/04/2024 16:25

@YaWeeFurryBastard I take a standard multivitamin plus vitamin D, B vitamins, folic acid and 75mg aspirin. Used to take agnus castus too as I heard it helps with luteal phase but I’ve ran out and not bought any more.

Favofit · 30/04/2024 18:25

We started ubiquinol in November 23 but stopped this month, they cost a bit much and nothings happened since. We are also using Proceive Max which we started this year along with omega 3 supplements.

Premom app says 11dpo but looking at dates again I think I'm actually 9dpo.

Wishing everyone all the best ❤️❤️❤️

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 18:34

Thanks to everyone who’s replied. This thread is actually really helping as I don’t feel like the only one anymore 💐✨

Hi everyone,

I hope you don't mind me joining. I have been trying since November 2023 and already finding it really difficult as I naively assumed I would come off the pill and be pregnant straight away.

I am worried for 2 reasons :
Was on the pill from 18 years old and now I'm 31 - will this affect my fertility?
I started testing my bbt last month and the app said that I ovulated day 19 in a day 28 cycle and predicting the same this cycle (currently CD16 and no sign of ovulation either on bbt, symptoms or OPK) - is this worrying for my luteal phase to be so short ? And anything I can do the improve it .. already taking pregnacare before conception tablets.

Thanks x

RRAEE · 30/04/2024 18:59

@NoisyBee i was on the mini pill too for a very long time probably similar to you with probs a couple of breaks from it. On and off between 18-30, been fully off it for a year now, Its something that has worried me aswell but a few people i know have either gotten pregnant on it of have gotten pregnant not long after coming off of it. Everyones different though 🤷🏻‍♀️

It took about a month after the withdrawal bleed for my cycle to go back to normal and sometimes i can ovulate later than normal once or twice i didn't untill CD21.

It's hard to say don't stress too much when we all do it. But if you are concerned speak to your GP x

(Sorry if this didnt help much )

Catillac · 30/04/2024 19:17

@NoisyBee@NoisyBee being on the pill for a long time won't affect your fertility but it could take some time for your hormones and cycles to get back to normal or for you to ovulate. Everyone is different though. My sister had her withdrawal bleed a few weeks after coming off the pill and her cycles returned to normal right away but some people can take long. For me it took a few months and I felt physically sick to the stomach for months and months when I come off it.

You're already tracking ovulation so that's good you will then know when you ovulate and your cycles return to normal. Could be a few months before they are the same length every month as well.

NoisyBee · 30/04/2024 19:23

@Catillac @RRAEE thank you so much for replying. Yeah I feel like we nailed the DtD timing last cycle even though it was late as was tracking my bbt but still AF came (although very light) so you're probably right that my hormones are still getting back to normal.

VolvoFan · 30/04/2024 19:28

Over two years of trying here. I'm going to be 37 this year. A combination of natural trying and IVF. We have one last embryo left to use up. To my knowledge, I have had at least 6 embryos attempt to grow inside me and all have died. I'm in the two week wait of a natural attempt right now. I have zero hope. We'll use our last remaining embryo likely later this year and regardless of the outcome of that, I'm done with assisted conception and it'll be natural attempts until we can't do it anymore.

I've had my fair share of breakdowns and crying fits in the bathroom, I've had my fair share of pregnancy announcements at work, including being told by my line manager about a maternity leave collection pot being organised for a colleague on a day an IVF cycle got cancelled and I had to stump up a £500 fee for all the additional scans I had. They did apologise, but it is what it is. What it is, is that it sucks. Hard. It's like being part of a club you never asked to join, but you're in it anyway.

You and anyone else is this crappy boat have my sympathies 💐

ALB1266 · 30/04/2024 19:38

I’m going to join too. The supportive community definitely helps.
Ive been trying to conceive since March 2022 and never had a positive test. Currently on Letrozole cycle 2, 4 more cycles and if not IVF it is.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 19:40

@VolvoFan I’m so sorry and I have everything crossed you finally get your BFP 💐. Life is really fucking unfair sometimes.

OP posts:
YaWeeFurryBastard · 30/04/2024 19:43

@NoisyBee i would really recommend the Proov tests if you’re concerned about your luteal phase. They’re about £25 from Amazon and you take them on 7/8/9/10 dpo I.e. the crucial days when an embryo could implant. The tests should confirm ovulation and confirm if your progesterone is high enough to support ovulation. Once you know you can go from there and go back to your GP armed with the info if necessary ✨
